Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow by Gary Rose

Yesterday:

I visited my former congregation in Zephyhills, Florida. We studied the book of Joshua. An interesting study, with plenty of comments. I remember we discussed Jericho, but focused on the conquest of AI. During the study, I thought of how great God Almighty was and how HE performed such mighty acts for the Israelites.

Today:

Orion in Red and Blue

(in my email today)

I have seen many, many pictures of Orion over the years, but this one is absolutely stunning!!! I seem to remember from today's email, that it is a composite of over 200 hrs of effort. Frankly, it was worth every minute!!!

It is coincidental that I have been in the Psalms as part of my yearly Bible Reading lately, so thought of this great Psalm!!!

Psalm 8 (World English Bible)

1  Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth,
who has set your glory above the heavens! (emphasis added)
2 From the lips of babes and infants you have established strength,
because of your adversaries, that you might silence the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have ordained;
4 what is man, that you think of him?
What is the son of man, that you care for him?  (emphasis added)
5 For you have made him a little lower than God,
and crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You make him ruler over the works of your hands.
You have put all things under his feet:
  7 All sheep and cattle,
yes, and the animals of the field,
8 The birds of the sky, the fish of the sea,
and whatever passes through the paths of the seas.
  9 Yahweh, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth! (emphasis added)

Later on, as part of my normal routine, I just happened to come across this video on Facebook.

And here it is...

(On Facebook today)

If you click on the link "NASA and The Bible" above, or just copy the video's address into your browser's search function, you will see this nicely done video.

During the video, the scientists from NASA search for the "missing day". They turn to the Bible for the answer. Here are the passages...

Joshua 10 (WEB)
12  Then Joshua spoke to Yahweh in the day when Yahweh delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel; and he said in the sight of Israel, “Sun, stand still on Gibeon! You, moon, stop in the valley of Aijalon!”

13  The sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation had avenged themselves of their enemies. Isn’t this written in the book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the midst of the sky, and didn’t hurry to go down about a whole day.  14 There was no day like that before it or after it, that Yahweh listened to the voice of a man; for Yahweh fought for Israel.

And

2 Kings 20 (WEB)
9  Isaiah said, “This shall be the sign to you from Yahweh, that Yahweh will do the thing that he has spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?”

10  Hezekiah answered, “It is a light thing for the shadow to go forward ten steps. Nay, but let the shadow return backward ten steps.”

I liked the video very much; I just wish they had given source of the NASA  problem (to corroborate the video). How refreshing it was to see someone going to the Bible for an answer to a science question!!!

Humm, Joshua yesterday and again today. So, what about tomorrow? Well, since the Greek name for Joshua is Jesus. I will think about Jesus and the creation of everything this day. For Jesus had a part in the creation and that creation endures to this day and beyond.

The Scripture says...

John 1 (WEB)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  2 The same was in the beginning with God.  3 All things were made through him. Without him was not anything made that has been made. (emphasis added) 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.  5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn’t overcome it.  6 There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John.  7 The same came as a witness, that he might testify about the light, that all might believe through him.  8 He was not the light, but was sent that he might testify about the light.  9 The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.

10  He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world didn’t recognize him.  11 He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him.  12 But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name:  13 who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.  14 The Word became flesh, and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the one and only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.  15 John testified about him. He cried out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me, for he was before me.’”  16 From his fullness we all received grace upon grace.  17 For the law was given through Moses. Grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.  18 No one has seen God at any time. The one and only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him. (emphasis added)

Hebrews 13 (WEB)

8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Tomorrow

From the beauty of the heavens, to our everyday existence and back again, God is there, working out all things according to HIS will. Jesus is the living proof of all this, for HE cared enough to die for all that we have ever done wrong. The Bible calls this SIN.

As much as I am in awe of the heavenly realm, I am totally amazed that God would love me so much to die for MY SIN

Because Jesus lives now, I have hope for tomorrow!!! I can't wait to see what "coincidences" await for me today!!!
