HOW WOULD YOU INTERPRET SCRIPTURE?  by steve finnell

How would you interpret Scripture? I am not asking how your preacher, priest, rabbi, deacon, nor your best friend would interpret Scripture. I am not asking how a Bible commentary, a creed book, a church statement of faith, nor how theologians interpret Scripture. I am not asking how Billy Graham, Pope Francis, T.D. Jakes, Max Lucado, nor Joel Osteen would interpret Scripture.

HOW WOULD YOU INTERPRET SCRIPTURE?

Subject: Water Baptism

Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. (NKJV)

John 3:3-5 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." 4 Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born? 5 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. (NKJV)

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins;  and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.(NKJV)

Galatians 3:26-27 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Jesus Christ have put on Christ. (NKJV)

Matthew 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them  in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, (NKJV)

Romans 6:3-7 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life......6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. (NKJV)

Colossians 2:11-13 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ. 12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and uncircumcision of you flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, (NKJV)

Ephesians 5:25-27 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present it to Himself  a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing , but that it should be holy and without blemish, (NKJV)

Acts 22:16 'And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.' (NKJV)

1 Peter 3:20-21...eight souls, were saved through water. 21 There is also an antitype which now saves us, namely baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but an answer of a good con conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, (NKJV)

Titus 3:4-5 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.(NKJV)

1 John 5:6-8.... 8 And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one. (NKJV)

Hebrews 10:22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. (NKJV)

The Bereans interpreted Scripture on their own. Acts 17:11-12....and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

DO YOU FEEL SECURE LEAVING YOUR SALVATION TO THE SCRIPTURAL INTERPRETATION OF OTHERS?
