11 He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers;12 for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ;13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;14 that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error;15 but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, Christ;16 from whom all the body, being fitted and knit together through that which every joint supplies, according to the working in measure of each individual part, makes the body increase to the building up of itself in love.17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind,WEB

Speaking the truth in love

Lunch!
Animals know what they want, but no so people. Most people strive to get a better job, more money, more possessions, more frills and the more people have, the more they want; it never ends. What does it take for someone to realize that there is more to life than the above list? I like this video because it shows a single-mindedness which gets right down to basics. Something as basic as eating can be a real motivator. Our sleeping friend sure had a wake up call, didn't he? Jesus chose his disciples and showed them how to communicate his message. This passage in Matthew shows how.
Matt 4:18-23
18 Walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers: Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
19 He said to them, "Come after me, and I will make you fishers for men."
20 They immediately left their nets and followed him.
21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them.
22 They immediately left the boat and their father, and followed him.
23 Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.WEB
What a lesson in fishing for men; using the power you have to both help and teach at the same time. Hey, you don't have to hit me over the head with a baseball bat; just use the power you have and get attention... the message will do the rest.
