Jeremiah
5-9
Jer
5:1 Run you back and forth through the streets of Jerusalem, and see
now, and know, and seek in the broad places of it, if you can find a
man, if there are any who does justly, who seeks truth; and I will
pardon her.
Jer
5:2 Though they say, As Yahweh lives; surely they swear falsely.
Jer
5:3 O Yahweh, don't your eyes look on truth? you have stricken them,
but they were not grieved; you have consumed them, but they have
refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than
a rock; they have refused to return.
Jer
5:4 Then I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish; for they
don't know the way of Yahweh, nor the law of their God:
Jer
5:5 I will get me to the great men, and will speak to them; for they
know the way of Yahweh, and the law of their God. But these with one
accord have broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.
Jer
5:6 Therefore a lion out of the forest shall kill them, a wolf of
the evenings shall destroy them, a leopard shall watch against their
cities; everyone who goes out there shall be torn in pieces; because
their transgressions are many, and
their backsliding is increased.
Jer
5:7 How can I pardon you? your children have forsaken me, and sworn
by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they
committed adultery, and assembled themselves in troops at the
prostitutes' houses.
Jer
5:8 They were as fed horses roaming at large; everyone neighed after
his neighbor's wife.
Jer
5:9 Shall I not visit for these things? says Yahweh; and shall not
my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Jer
5:10 Go up on her walls, and destroy; but don't make a full end:
take away her branches; for they are not Yahweh's.
Jer
5:11 For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very
treacherously against me, says Yahweh.
Jer
5:12 They have denied Yahweh, and said, It is not he; neither shall
evil come on us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:
Jer
5:13 and the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in
them: thus shall it be done to them.
Jer
5:14 Therefore thus says Yahweh, the God of Armies, Because you
speak this word, behold, I will make my words in your mouth fire, and
this people wood, and it shall devour them.
Jer
5:15 Behold, I will bring a nation on you from far, house of Israel,
says Yahweh: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation
whose language you don't know, neither understand what they say.
Jer
5:16 Their quiver is an open tomb, they are all mighty men.
Jer
5:17 They shall eat up your harvest, and your bread, which
your sons and your daughters should eat; they shall eat up your
flocks and your herds; they shall eat up your vines and your fig
trees; they shall beat down your fortified cities, in which you
trust, with the sword.
Jer
5:18 But even in those days, says Yahweh, I will not make a full end
with you.
Jer
5:19 It shall happen, when you shall say, Why has Yahweh our God
done all these things to us? then you shall say to them, Like as you
have forsaken me, and served foreign gods in your land, so you shall
serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
Jer
5:20 Declare you this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in
Judah, saying,
Jer
5:21 Hear now this, foolish people, and without understanding; who
have eyes, and don't see; who have ears, and don't hear:
Jer
5:22 Don't you fear me? says Yahweh: won't you tremble at my
presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea, by a
perpetual decree, that it can't pass it? and though its waves toss
themselves, yet they can't prevail; though they roar, yet they can't
pass over it.
Jer
5:23 But this people has a revolting and a rebellious heart; they
are revolted and gone.
Jer
5:24 Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear Yahweh our
God, who gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season;
who preserves to us the appointed weeks of the harvest.
Jer
5:25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins
have withheld good from you.
Jer
5:26 For among my people are found wicked men: they watch, as
fowlers lie in wait; they set a trap, they catch men.
Jer
5:27 As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit:
therefore they are become great, and grew rich.
Jer
5:28 They are grew fat, they shine: yes, they overpass in deeds of
wickedness; they don't plead the cause, the cause of the fatherless,
that they may prosper; and the right of the needy they don't judge.
Jer
5:29 Shall I not visit for these things? says Yahweh; shall not my
soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Jer
5:30 A wonderful and horrible thing is happen in the land:
Jer
5:31 the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by
their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will you do
in the end of it?
Jer
6:1 Flee for safety, you children of Benjamin, out of the midst of
Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and raise up a signal on
Beth Haccherem; for evil looks forth from the north, and a great
destruction.
Jer
6:2 The comely and delicate one, the daughter of Zion, will I cut
off.
Jer
6:3 Shepherds with their flocks shall come to her; they shall pitch
their tents against her all around; they shall feed everyone in his
place.
Jer
6:4 Prepare you war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon.
Woe to us! for the day declines, for the shadows of the evening are
stretched out.
Jer
6:5 Arise, and let us go up by night, and let us destroy her
palaces.
Jer
6:6 For thus has Yahweh of Armies said, Cut down trees, and cast up
a mound against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is
wholly oppression in the midst of her.
Jer
6:7 As a well casts forth its waters, so she casts forth her
wickedness: violence and destruction is heard in her; before me
continually is sickness and wounds.
Jer
6:8  Be instructed, Jerusalem, lest my soul be alienated from you;
lest I make you a desolation, a land not inhabited.
Jer
6:9 Thus says Yahweh of Armies, They shall thoroughly glean the
remnant of Israel as a vine: turn again your hand as a grape gatherer
into the baskets.
Jer
6:10 To whom shall I speak and testify, that they may hear? behold,
their ear is uncircumcised, and they can't listen: behold, the word
of Yahweh is become to them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
Jer
6:11 Therefore I am full of the wrath of Yahweh; I am weary with
holding in: pour it out on the children in the street, and on the
assembly of young men together; for even the husband with the wife
shall be taken, the aged with him who is full of days.
Jer
6:12 Their houses shall be turned to others, their fields and their
wives together; for I will stretch out my hand on the inhabitants of
the land, says Yahweh.
Jer
6:13 For from the least of them even to the greatest of them
everyone is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even to the
priest everyone deals falsely.
Jer
6:14 They have healed also the hurt of my people slightly, saying,
Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
Jer
6:15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay,
they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore
they shall fall among those who fall; at the time that I visit them
they shall be cast down, says Yahweh.
Jer
6:16 Thus says Yahweh, Stand you in the ways and see, and ask for
the old paths, where is the good way; and walk therein, and you shall
find rest for your souls: but they said, We will not walk therein.
Jer
6:17 I set watchmen over you, saying,
Listen to the sound of the trumpet; but they said, We will not
listen.
Jer
6:18 Therefore hear, you nations, and know, congregation, what is
among them.
Jer
6:19 Hear, earth: behold, I will bring evil on this people, even the
fruit of their thoughts, because they have not listened to my words;
and as for my law, they have rejected it.
Jer
6:20 To what purpose comes there to me frankincense from Sheba, and
the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not
acceptable, nor your sacrifices pleasing to me.
Jer
6:21 Therefore thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will lay stumbling blocks
before this people; and the fathers and the sons together shall
stumble against them; the neighbor and his friend shall perish.
Jer
6:22 Thus says Yahweh, Behold, a people comes from the north
country; and a great nation shall be stirred up from the uttermost
parts of the earth.
Jer
6:23 They lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no
mercy; their voice roars like the sea, and they ride on horses,
everyone set in array, as a man to the battle, against you, daughter
of Zion.
Jer
6:24 We have heard its report; our hands wax feeble: anguish has
taken hold of us, and
pangs as of a woman in travail.
Jer
6:25 Don't go forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the
sword of the enemy, and
terror, are on every side.
Jer
6:26 Daughter of my people, gird you with sackcloth, and wallow
yourself in ashes: make you mourning, as for an only son, most bitter
lamentation; for the destroyer shall suddenly come on us.
Jer
6:27 I have made you a tester of metals and
a fortress among my people; that you may know and try their way.
Jer
6:28 They are all grievous rebels, going about with slanders; they
are brass and iron: they all of them deal corruptly.
Jer
6:29 The bellows blow fiercely; the lead is consumed of the fire: in
vain do they go on refining; for the wicked are not plucked away.
Jer
6:30 Men will call them rejected silver, because Yahweh has rejected
them.
Jer
7:1 The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,
Jer
7:2 Stand in the gate of Yahweh's house, and proclaim there this
word, and say, Hear the word of Yahweh, all you of Judah, who enter
in at these gates to worship Yahweh.
Jer
7:3 Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, Amend your ways
and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.
Jer
7:4 Don't you trust in lying words, saying, The temple of Yahweh,
the temple of Yahweh, the temple of Yahweh, are these.
Jer
7:5 For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if you
thoroughly execute justice between a man and his neighbor;
Jer
7:6 if you don't oppress the foreigner, the fatherless, and the
widow, and don't shed innocent blood in this place, neither walk
after other gods to your own hurt:
Jer
7:7 then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I
gave to your fathers, from of old even forevermore.
Jer
7:8 Behold, you trust in lying words, that can't profit.
Jer
7:9 Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely,
and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods that you have not
known,
Jer
7:10 and come and stand before me in this house, which is called by
my name, and say, We are delivered; that you may do all these
abominations?
Jer
7:11 Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of
robbers in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it, says Yahweh.
Jer
7:12 But go you now to my place which was in Shiloh, where I caused
my name to dwell at the first, and see what I did to it for the
wickedness of my people Israel.
Jer
7:13 Now, because you have done all these works, says Yahweh, and I
spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you didn't hear; and
I called you, but you didn't answer:
Jer
7:14 therefore will I do to the house which is called by my name, in
which you trust, and to the place which I gave to you and to your
fathers, as I did to Shiloh.
Jer
7:15 I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your
brothers, even the whole seed of Ephraim.
Jer
7:16 Therefore don't you pray for this people, neither lift up a cry
nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me; for I will not
hear you.
Jer
7:17 Don't you see what they do in the cities of Judah and in the
streets of Jerusalem?
Jer
7:18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and
the women knead the dough, to make cakes to the queen of the sky, and
to pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke me
to anger.
Jer
7:19 Do they provoke me to anger? says Yahweh; do
they not provoke
themselves, to the confusion of their own faces?
Jer
7:20 Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, my anger and my
wrath shall be poured out on this place, on man, and on animal, and
on the trees of the field, and on the fruit of the ground; and it
shall burn, and shall not be quenched.
Jer
7:21 Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Add your burnt
offerings to your sacrifices, and eat meat.
Jer
7:22 For I didn't speak to your fathers, nor command them in the day
that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt
offerings or sacrifices:
Jer
7:23 but this thing I commanded them, saying, Listen to my voice,
and I will be your God, and you shall be my people; and walk you in
all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.
Jer
7:24 But they didn't listen nor turn their ear, but walked in their
own counsels and
in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward, and not
forward.
Jer
7:25 Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of
Egypt to this day, I have sent to you all my servants the prophets,
daily rising up early and sending them:
Jer
7:26 yet they didn't listen to me, nor inclined their ear, but made
their neck stiff: they did worse than their fathers.
Jer
7:27 You shall speak all these words to them; but they will not
listen to you: you shall also call to them; but they will not answer
you.
Jer
7:28 You shall tell them, This is the nation that has not listened
to the voice of Yahweh their God, nor received instruction: truth is
perished, and is cut off from their mouth.
Jer
7:29 Cut off your hair, Jerusalem,
and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on the bare heights; for
Yahweh has rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.
Jer
7:30 For the children of Judah have done that which is evil in my
sight, says Yahweh: they have set their abominations in the house
which is called by my name, to defile it.
Jer
7:31 They have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the
valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters
in the fire; which I didn't command, nor did it come into my mind.
Jer
7:32 Therefore, behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that it shall no
more be called Topheth, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The
valley of Slaughter: for they shall bury in Topheth, until there be
no place to bury.
Jer
7:33 The dead bodies of this people shall be food for the birds of
the sky, and for the animals of the earth; and none shall frighten
them away.
Jer
7:34 Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from
the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth and the voice of
gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; for
the land shall become a waste.
Jer
8:1 At that time, says Yahweh, they shall bring out the bones of the
kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the
priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the
inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves;
Jer
8:2 and they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all
the army of the sky, which they have loved, and which they have
served, and after which they have walked, and which they have sought,
and which they have worshiped: they shall not be gathered, nor be
buried, they shall be for dung on the surface of the earth.
Jer
8:3 Death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue that
remain of this evil family, that remain in all the places where I
have driven them, says Yahweh of Armies.
Jer
8:4 Moreover you shall tell them, Thus says Yahweh: Shall men fall,
and not rise up again? Shall one turn away, and not return?
Jer
8:5 Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual
backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.
Jer
8:6 I listened and heard, but they didn't speak aright: no man
repents him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? everyone
turns to his course, as a horse that rushes headlong in the battle.
Jer
8:7 Yes, the stork in the sky knows her appointed times; and the
turtledove and the swallow and the crane observe the time of their
coming; but my people don't know Yahweh's law.
Jer
8:8 How do you say, We are wise, and the law of Yahweh is with us?
But, behold, the false pen of the scribes has worked falsely.
Jer
8:9 The wise men are disappointed, they are dismayed and taken:
behold, they have rejected the word of Yahweh; and what manner of
wisdom is in them?
Jer
8:10 Therefore will I give their wives to others, and their fields
to those who shall possess them: for everyone from the least even to
the greatest is given to covetousness; from the prophet even to the
priest every one deals falsely.
Jer
8:11 They have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people
slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
Jer
8:12 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay,
they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore
shall they fall among those who fall; in the time of their visitation
they shall be cast down, says Yahweh.
Jer
8:13 I will utterly consume them, says Yahweh: there shall be no
grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall
fade; and the things that
I have given them shall pass away from them.
Jer
8:14 Why do we sit still? Assemble yourselves, and let us enter into
the fortified cities, and let us be silent there; for Yahweh our God
has put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because
we have sinned against Yahweh.
Jer
8:15 We looked for peace, but no good came; and
for a time of healing, and behold, dismay!
Jer
8:16 The snorting of his horses is heard from Dan: at the sound of
the neighing of his strong ones the whole land trembles; for they are
come, and have devoured the land and all that is in it; the city and
those who dwell therein.
Jer
8:17 For, behold, I will send serpents, adders, among you, which
will not be charmed; and they shall bite you, says Yahweh.
Jer
8:18 Oh that I could comfort myself against sorrow! My heart is
faint within me.
Jer
8:19 Behold, the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people from
a land that is very far off: isn't Yahweh in Zion? Isn't her King in
her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their engraved images,
and with foreign vanities?
Jer
8:20 The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.
Jer
8:21  For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt: I mourn;
dismay has taken hold on me.
Jer
8:22 Is there no balm in Gilead? is there no physician there? why
then isn't the health of the daughter of my people recovered?
Jer
9:1 Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a spring of tears, that
I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my
people!
Jer
9:2 Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring
men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they are all
adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.
Jer
9:3 They bend their tongue, as it were
their bow, for falsehood; and they are grown strong in the land, but
not for truth: for they proceed from evil to evil, and they don't
know me, says Yahweh.
Jer
9:4 Take you heed everyone of his neighbor, and don't you trust in
any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every
neighbor will go about with slanders.
Jer
9:5 They will deceive everyone his neighbor, and will not speak the
truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary
themselves to commit iniquity.
Jer
9:6 Your habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they
refuse to know me, says Yahweh.
Jer
9:7 Therefore thus says Yahweh of Armies, Behold, I will melt them,
and try them; for how else
should I do, because of the daughter of my people?
Jer
9:8 Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceit: one speaks
peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he lays
wait for him.
Jer
9:9 Shall I not visit them for these things? says Yahweh; shall not
my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Jer
9:10 For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for
the pastures of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned
up, so that none passes through; neither can men hear the voice of
the livestock; both the birds of the sky and the animals are fled,
they are gone.
Jer
9:11 I will make Jerusalem heaps, a dwelling place of jackals; and I
will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.
Jer
9:12 Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who
is he to whom the mouth of Yahweh has
spoken, that he may declare it? why is the land perished and burned
up like a wilderness, so that none passes through?
Jer
9:13 Yahweh says, Because they have forsaken my law which I set
before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein,
Jer
9:14 but have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and
after the Baals, which their fathers taught them;
Jer
9:15 therefore thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel,
Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give
them water of gall to drink.
Jer
9:16 I will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they
nor their fathers have known; and I will send the sword after them,
until I have consumed them.
Jer
9:17 Thus says Yahweh of Armies, Consider you, and call for the
mourning women, that they may come; and send for the skillful women,
that they may come:
Jer
9:18 and let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our
eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.
Jer
9:19 For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we ruined!
we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because
they have cast down our dwellings.
Jer
9:20 Yet hear the word of Yahweh, you women, and let your ear
receive the word of his mouth; and teach your daughters wailing, and
everyone her neighbor lamentation.
Jer
9:21 For death is come up into our windows, it is entered into our
palaces; to cut off the children from outside, and
the young men from the streets.
Jer
9:22 Speak, Thus says Yahweh, The dead bodies of men shall fall as
dung on the open field, and as the handful after the harvester; and
none shall gather them.
Jer
9:23 Thus says Yahweh, Don't let the wise man glory in his wisdom,
neither let the mighty man glory in his might, don't let the rich man
glory in his riches;
Jer
9:24 but let him who glories glory in this, that he has
understanding, and knows me, that I am Yahweh who exercises loving
kindness, justice, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these
things I delight, says Yahweh.
Jer
9:25 Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will punish all
those who are circumcised in their
uncircumcision:
Jer
9:26 Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and
Moab, and all that have the corners of
their hair cut off, who dwell in the
wilderness; for all the nations are uncircumcised, and all the house
of Israel are uncircumcised in heart.

The

is
a effort to understand the Bible by considering it from different
perspectives and different levels of literalcy. First, read the
World English Bible (the least literal-black
text)
for comprehension of the text. Next, read both the World English
Bible with the Darby Translation (more literal-blue
text)to
make comparisons and lastly, read all three versions (Young's is the
most literal translation-
red text)
at one time to obtain an overview of the text. Doing this will make
you think about what
the
Scriptures are actually saying and avoid reading in a superficial
manner.
Jeremiah

Jeremiah 5 1
 Run
you back and forth through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and
know, and seek in the broad
places of it, if you can find a man, if there are any who does
justly, who seeks truth; and I will
pardon her.
 Run
ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and
know, and seek in the

broadways thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be [any] that
doeth justice, that seeketh

fidelity; and I will pardon it.
 Go
to and fro in streets of Jerusalem, And see, I pray you, and know,
And seek in
 her
broad places, if ye find a man, If there be one doing judgment,
seeking
 stedfastness
-- Then am I propitious to her.
 Jeremiah 5 2
 Though
they say, As Yahweh lives; surely they swear falsely.
 And
if they say, [As] Jehovah liveth! surely they swear falsely.
 And
if they say, `Jehovah liveth,` Surely to a falsehood they swear.
 Jeremiah 5 3
 O
Yahweh, don`t your eyes look on truth? you have stricken them, but
they were not grieved; you have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they
have made their faces harder
than a rock; they have refused to return.
 Jehovah,
are not thine eyes upon fidelity? Thou hast smitten them, but they
are not sore;
 thou
hast consumed them, they have refused to receive correction: they
have made their
 faces
harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
 Jehovah,
Thine eyes, are they not on stedfastness? Thou hast smitten them,
and
 they
have not grieved, Thou hast consumed them, They have refused to
receive
 instruction,
They made their faces harder than a rock, They have refused to turn
 back.
 Jeremiah 5 4
 Then
I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish; for they don`t know
the way of Yahweh, nor the
law of their God:
 And
I said, Surely these are the wretched ones, they are foolish; for
they know not the way

of Jehovah, the judgment of their God.
 And
I -- I said, `Surely these [are] poor, They have been foolish, For
they have not
 known
the way of Jehovah, The judgment of their God.
 Jeremiah 5 5
 I
will get me to the great men, and will speak to them; for they know
the way of Yahweh, and the law
of their God. But these with one accord have broken the yoke, and
burst the bonds.
 I
will go unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they know
the way of Jehovah,
 the
judgment of their God; but these have altogether broken the yoke,
have burst the
 bonds.
 I
get me to the great, and I speak with them, For they have known the
way of
 Jehovah,
The judgment of their God.` Surely they together have broken the
yoke,
 They
have drawn away the bands.
 Jeremiah 5 6
 Therefore
a lion out of the forest shall kill them, a wolf of the evenings
shall destroy them, a leopard
shall watch against their cities; everyone who goes out there shall
be torn in pieces; because
their transgressions are many, [and] their backsliding is increased.
 Therefore
a lion out of the forest shall slay them, a wolf of the evenings
shall waste them;
 the
leopard lurketh against their cities, every one that goeth out
thence is torn in
 pieces:
for their transgressions are multiplied, their backslidings are
increased.
 Therefore
smitten them hath a lion out of the forest, A wolf of the deserts
doth
 spoil
them, A leopard is watching over their cities, Every one who is
going out of
 them
is torn, For many have been their transgressions, Mighty have been
their
 backslidings.
 Jeremiah 5 7
 How
can I pardon you? your children have forsaken me, and sworn by them
that are no gods: when
I had fed them to the full, they committed adultery, and assembled
themselves in troops at the
prostitutes` houses.
 Wherefore
should I pardon thee? Thy children have forsaken me, and swear by
them that
 are
not God. I have satiated them, and they have committed adultery, and
they troop to
 the
 harlots` house.
 For
this I am not propitious to thee, Thy sons have forsaken Me, And are
satisfied
 by
that which is not god, I satisfy them, and they commit adultery, And
at the
 house
of a harlot They gather themselves together.
 Jeremiah 5 8
 They
were as fed horses roaming at large; everyone neighed after his
neighbor`s wife.
 [As]
well fed horses, they roam about, every one neigheth after his
neighbour`s wife.
 Fed
horses -- they have been early risers, Each to the wife of his
neighbour they neigh.
 Jeremiah 5 9
 Shall
I not visit for these things? says Yahweh; and shall not my soul be
avenged on such a nation as
this?
 Shall
I not visit for these things? saith Jehovah, and shall not my soul
be avenged on such
 a
nation as this?
 For
these do I not lay a charge? An affirmation of Jehovah, And on a
nation such as
 this,
Doth not My soul avenge itself?
 Jeremiah 5 10
 Go
you up on her walls, and destroy; but don`t make a full end: take
away her branches; for they are
not Yahweh`s.
 Go
up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end; take away
her battlements, for

they are not Jehovah`s.
 Go
ye up on her walls, and destroy, And a completion make not, Turn
aside her
 branches,
for they [are] not Jehovah`s,
 Jeremiah 5 11
 For
the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very
treacherously against me, says Yahweh.
 For
the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very
treacherously against me,
 saith
Jehovah.
 For
dealt treacherously against Me have the house of Israel, And the
house of
 Judah,
an affirmation of Jehovah.
 Jeremiah 5 12
 They
have denied Yahweh, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come
on us; neither shall we see
sword nor famine:
 They
have denied Jehovah, and say, He is not; and evil shall not come
upon us, nor shall we

see sword nor famine;
 They
have lied against Jehovah, And they say, `[It is] not He, Nor come
in against
 us
doth evil, Yea, sword and famine we do not see.
 Jeremiah 5 13
 and
the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus
shall it be done to them.
 and
the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus
shall it be done
 unto
them.
 And
the prophets become wind, And the word is not in them,` -- thus it
is done by
 them.
 Jeremiah 5 14
 Therefore
thus says Yahweh, the God of hosts, Because you speak this word,
behold, I will make my
words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour
them.
 Therefore
thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts: Because ye speak this word,
behold, I will
 make
my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall
devour them.
 Therefore,
thus said Jehovah, God of Hosts, Because of your speaking this word,
Lo,
 I
am making My words in thy mouth become fire, And this people wood,
and it
 hath
devoured them.
 Jeremiah 5 15
 Behold,
I will bring a nation on you from far, house of Israel, says Yahweh:
it is a mighty nation, it
is an ancient nation, a nation whose language you don`t know, neither
understand what they say.
 Behold,
I bring a nation upon you from afar, house of Israel, saith Jehovah:
it is a mighty
 nation,
it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not,
neither
 understandest
thou what they say.
 Lo,
I am bringing against you a nation from afar, O house of Israel, an
affirmation
 of
Jehovah, A nation -- strong it [is], a nation -- from of old it
[is], A nation -- thou
 knowest
not its tongue, Nor understandest what it speaketh.
 Jeremiah 5 16
 Their
quiver is an open tomb, they are all mighty men.
 Their
quiver is as an open sepulchre; they are all mighty men.
 Its
quiver [is] as an open sepulchre, All of them -- mighty ones.
 Jeremiah 5 17
 They
shall eat up your harvest, and your bread, [which] your sons and your
daughters should eat; they shall eat up your flocks and your herds; they shall eat up your
vines and your fig-trees; they shall beat down your fortified cities, in which you trust, with the
sword.
 And
they shall eat up thy harvest and thy bread, they shall eat up thy
sons and thy
 daughters,
they shall eat up thy flocks and thy herds, they shall eat up thy
vines and thy
 fig-trees;
they shall destroy with the sword thy strong cities, wherein thou
trustedst.
 And
it hath consumed thy harvest and thy bread, They consume thy sons,
and thy
 daughters,
It consumeth thy flock, and thy herd, It consumeth thy vine, and thy
 fig-tree,
It maketh poor thy fenced cities, In which thou art trusting -- by
the
 sword.
 Jeremiah 5 18
 But
even in those days, says Yahweh, I will not make a full end with you.
 Nevertheless
in those days, saith Jehovah, I will not make a full end with you.
 And
even in those days, an affirmation of Jehovah, I do not make you a
completion.
 Jeremiah 5 19
 It
shall happen, when you shall say, Why has Yahweh our God done all
these things to us? then shall
you say to them, Like as you have forsaken me, and served foreign
gods in your land, so shall you serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
 And
it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore hath Jehovah our
God done all
 these
things unto us? then shalt thou say to them, As ye have forsaken me,
and served
 strange
gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is
not yours.
 And
it hath come to pass, when ye say, `For what hath Jehovah our God
done to us
 all
these?` That thou hast said unto them, `As ye have forsaken Me, And
serve the
 gods
of a foreigner in your land, So do ye serve strangers in a land not
yours.
 Jeremiah 5 20
 Declare
you this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,

this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,
 Declare
ye this in the house of Jacob, And sound ye it in Judah, saying,
 Jeremiah 5 21
 Hear
now this, foolish people, and without understanding; who have eyes,
and don`t see; who have
ears, and don`t hear:
 Hear
now this, O foolish and heartless people, who have  eyes and see not;
who have ears,
 and
hear not.
 Hear
ye, I pray you, this, O people, foolish and without heart, Eyes they
have, and
 they
see not, Ears they have, and they hear not.
 Jeremiah 5 22
 Don`t
you fear me? says Yahweh: won`t you tremble at my presence, who have
placed the sand for the
bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it can`t pass it? and
though the waves of it toss themselves,
yet they can`t prevail; though they roar, yet they can`t pass over
it.
 Will
ye not fear me? saith Jehovah. Will ye not tremble at my presence,
who have set the
 sand
a bound for the sea by a perpetual decree, and it shall not pass it?
and its waves toss

themselves, but they do not prevail; and they roar, yet can they not
pass over it?
 Me
do ye not fear, an affirmation of Jehovah? From My presence are ye
not pained?

Who hath made sand the border of the sea, A limit age-during, and it
passeth not
 over
it, They shake themselves, and they are not able, Yea, sounded have
its
 billows,
and they pass not over.
 Jeremiah 5 23
 But
this people has a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted
and gone.
 But
this people hath a stubborn and a rebellious heart; they have turned
aside and are gone.
 And
this people hath an apostate and rebellious heart, They have turned
aside,
 and
they go on.
 Jeremiah 5 24
 Neither
say they in their heart, Let us now fear Yahweh our God, who gives
rain, both the former and the latter, in its season; who preserves to us the appointed
weeks of the harvest.
 And
they say not in their heart, Let us now fear Jehovah our God, that
giveth rain, both
 the
early and the latter, in its season; who preserveth unto us the
appointed weeks of
 harvest.
 And
they have not said in their heart, `Let us fear, we pray you,
Jehovah our God,
 who
is giving rain, The sprinkling and the gathered, in its season, The
appointed
 weeks
of harvest He keepeth for us.`
 Jeremiah 5 25
 Your
iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withheld
good from you.
 Your
iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have
withholden from you
 what
is good.
 Your
iniquities have turned these away, And your sins have kept the good
from
 you.
 Jeremiah 5 26
 For
among my people are found wicked men: they watch, as fowlers lie in
wait; they set a trap, they
catch men.
 For
among my people are found wicked [men]: they lay wait, as fowlers
stoop down; they
 set
a trap, they catch men.
 For
the wicked have been found among My people. It looketh about the
covering of

snares, They have set up a trap -- men they capture.
 Jeremiah 5 27
 As
a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit:
therefore they are become great, and grew
rich.
 As
a cage full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore
they are become great,
 and
have enriched themselves.
 As
a cage full of fowls, So their houses are full of deceit, Therefore
they have been
 great,
and are rich.
 Jeremiah 5 28
 They
are grew fat, they shine: yes, they overpass in deeds of wickedness;
they don`t plead the cause,
the cause of the fatherless, that they may prosper; and the right of
the needy they don`t judge.
 They
are become fat, they shine, yea, they surpass in deeds of
wickedness; they judge not
 the
cause, the cause of the fatherless, and they prosper; and the right
of the needy do
 they
not adjudge.
 They
have been fat, they have shone, Yea, they have overpassed the acts
of the evil,
 Judgment
they have not judged, The judgment of the fatherless -- and they
 prosper,
And the judgment of the needy they have not judged.
 Jeremiah 5 29
 Shall
I not visit for these things? says Yahweh; shall not my soul be

as this, Doth

not My soul avenge itself?

 the
prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means;
and my people love to have
it so: and what will you do in the end of it?
 the
prophets prophesy falsehood, and the priests rule by  their means;
and my people love
 [to
have it] so. But what will ye do in the end thereof?
 The
prophets have prophesied falsely, And the priests bear rule by their
means,
 And
My people have loved [it] so, And what do they at its latter end?
 Jeremiah 6 1
 Flee
for safety, you children of Benjamin, out of the midst of Jerusalem,
and blow the trumpet in Tekoa,
and raise up a signal on Beth-haccherem; for evil looks forth from
the north, and a great destruction.
 Flee
for safety, ye children of Benjamin, out of the midst of Jerusalem,
and blow the
 trumpet
in Tekoa, and set up a signal in Beth-haccerem; for evil appeareth
out of the

blow ye a trumpet, And over Beth-Haccerem lift ye up a flame, For
evil hath
 been
seen from the north, And great destruction.

 Shepherds
with their flocks shall come to her; they shall pitch their tents
against her round
 about;
they shall feed everyone in his place.

the day hath

 Jeremiah 6 6
 For
thus has Yahweh of Hosts said, Hew you down trees, and cast up a
mound against Jerusalem: this
is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of
her.
 For
thus hath Jehovah of hosts said: Hew ye down trees, and cast a mound
against
 Jerusalem.
She is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst

 For
thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Cut down her wood, And pour out against
Jerusalem

a mount, She [is] the city to be inspected, Wholly -- she is
oppression in her midst.
 Jeremiah 6 7
 As
a well casts forth its waters, so she casts forth her wickedness:
violence and destruction is heard
in her; before me continually is sickness and wounds.
 As
a well poureth forth her waters, so she poureth forth her
wickedness: violence and
 destruction
are heard in her; before me continually are grief and wounds.
 As
the digging of a well, is [for] its waters, So she hath digged [for]

Violence and spoil is heard in her, Before My face continually [are]
 sickness
and smiting.

you instructed, Jerusalem, lest my soul be alienated from you; lest I
make you a desolation, a land
not inhabited.

thou instructed, Jerusalem, lest my soul be alienated  from thee;

 desolation,
a land not inhabited.
 Be
instructed, O Jerusalem, Lest My soul be alienated from thee, Lest I
make thee a

desolation, a land not inhabited.
 Jeremiah 6 9
 Thus
says Yahweh of Hosts, They shall thoroughly glean the remnant of
Israel as a vine: turn again
your hand as a grape-gatherer into the baskets.
 Thus
saith Jehovah of hosts: They shall thoroughly glean like a vine the
remnant of Israel:
 turn
back thy hand, as a grape-gatherer unto the baskets.
 Thus
said Jehovah of Hosts: They surely glean, as a vine, the remnant of
Israel, Put
 back
thy hand, as a gatherer to the baskets.
 Jeremiah 6 10
 To
whom shall I speak and testify, that they may hear? behold, their ear
is uncircumcised, and they
can`t listen: behold, the word of Yahweh is become to them a
reproach; they have no delight in it.
 To
whom shall I speak and testify, that they may hear? Behold, their
ear is
 uncircumcised,
and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of Jehovah is unto them a
 reproach;
they have no delight in it.
 To
whom do I speak, and testify, and they hear? Lo, their ear [is]
uncircumcised,
 And
they are not able to attend. Lo, a word of Jehovah hath been to them
for a
 reproach,
They delight not in it.
 Jeremiah 6 11
 Therefore
I am full of the wrath of Yahweh; I am weary with holding in: pour it
out on the
 children
in the street, and on the assembly of young men together; for even
the husband with the
wife shall be taken, the aged with him who is full of days.
 And
I am full of the fury of Jehovah, I am weary with holding in. Pour
it out upon the
 children
in the street, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even
the
 husband
with the wife shall be taken; the aged with him [that is] full of
days.
 And
with the fury of Jehovah I have been filled, (I have been weary of
containing,)
 To
pour [it] on the suckling in the street, And on the assembly of
youths together,
 For
even husband with wife are captured, An elder with one full of days,

 Their
houses shall be turned to others, their fields and their wives
together; for I will stretch out
my hand on the inhabitants of the land, says Yahweh.

their houses shall be turned unto others, [their] fields and wives
together; for I will
 stretch
out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith Jehovah.
 And
their houses have been turned to others, Fields and wives together,
For I
 stretch
out My hand against the inhabitants of the land, An affirmation of

 Jeremiah 6 13
 For
from the least of them even to the greatest of them everyone is given
to covetousness; and from
the prophet even to the priest everyone deals falsely.
 For
from the least of them even unto the greatest of them, every one is
given to
 covetousness;
and from the prophet even unto the priest, every one dealeth
falsely.
 For

 They
have healed also the hurt of my people slightly, saying, Peace,
peace; when there is no
 peace.
 And
they have healed the breach of the daughter of my people lightly,

 peace!
when there is no peace.
 And
they heal the breach of the daughter of my people slightly, Saying,
`Peace,
 peace!`
and there is no peace.
 Jeremiah 6 15
 Were
they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not
at all ashamed, neither
could they blush: therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at
the time that I visit them
they shall be cast down, says Yahweh.
 Are
they ashamed that they have committed abomination? Nay, they are not
at all
 ashamed,
neither know they what it is to blush. Therefore they shall fall
among them that

fall; at the time that I visit them they shall stumble, saith
Jehovah.
 They
were ashamed when they did abomination! Yea, they are not at all
ashamed,
 Yea,
blushing they have not known, Therefore they do fall among those
falling, In
 the
time I have inspected them, They stumble, said Jehovah.

 Thus
says Yahweh, Stand you in the ways and see, and ask for the old
paths, where is the good way;
and walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls: but they
said, We will not walk [therein].
 Thus
saith Jehovah: Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the ancient
paths, which is the
 good
way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But
they said, We will
 not
 walk [therein].
 Thus
said Jehovah: Stand ye by the ways and see, and ask for paths of
old, Where
 [is]
this -- the good way? and go ye in it, And find rest for yourselves.
And they
 say,
`We do not go.`

 I
set watchmen over you, [saying], Listen to the sound of the trumpet;

they say, `We do not attend.`

 Jeremiah 6 19
 Hear,
earth: behold, I will bring evil on this people, even the fruit of
their thoughts, because
 they
have not listened to my words; and as for my law, they have rejected
it.
 Hear,
O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, the fruit of
their thoughts; for
 they
have not hearkened unto my words, and as to my law, they have
rejected it.
 Hear,
O earth, lo, I am bringing evil on this people, The fruit of their
devices, For
 to
My words they gave no attention, And My law -- they kick against it.
 Jeremiah 6 20
 To
what purpose comes there to me frankincense from Sheba, and the sweet
cane from a far
 country?
your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices pleasing
to me.
 To
what purpose should there come to me incense from Sheba, and the
sweet cane from a
 far
country? Your burnt-offerings are not acceptable, nor are your
sacrifices pleasing
 unto
me.
 Why
[is] this to Me? frankincense from Sheba cometh, And the sweet cane
from a
 land
afar off, Your burnt-offerings [are] not for acceptance, And your
sacrifices
 have
not been sweet to Me.
 Jeremiah 6 21
 Therefore
thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will lay stumbling-blocks before this
people; and the
 fathers
and the sons together shall stumble against them; the neighbor and

 nation
is stirred up from the sides of the earth.
 Jeremiah 6 23
 They
lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their
voice roars like the sea, and they ride on horses, everyone set in array, as a man to the
battle, against you, daughter of Zion.
 They
lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their
voice roareth
 like
the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as a man for the
battle, against thee,
 daughter
of Zion.
 Bow
and javelin they take hold of, Fierce it [is], and they have no
mercy, Their
 voice
as a sea doth sound, And on horses they ride, set in array as a man
of war,
 Against
thee, O daughter of Zion.
 Jeremiah 6 24
 We
have heard the report of it; our hands wax feeble: anguish has taken
hold of us, [and] pangs as of a woman in travail.
 We
have heard the report thereof: our hands are grown feeble; anguish
hath taken hold of

us, pain as of a woman that travaileth.
 `We
have heard its sound, feeble have been our hands, Distress hath
seized us,
 pain
as of a travailing woman.
 Jeremiah 6 25
 Don`t
go forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the
enemy, [and] terror, are on
every side.
 Go
not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for [there is] the
sword of the enemy,
 terror
is on every side.
 Go
not forth to the field, And in the way walk not, For a sword hath
the enemy, fear

[is] round about.
 Jeremiah 6 26
 Daughter
of my people, gird you with sackcloth, and wallow yourself in ashes:
make you
 mourning,
as for an only son, most bitter lamentation; for the destroyer shall
suddenly come on us.
 Daughter
of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and roll thyself in ashes:
make mourning,
[as] for an only son -- bitter lamentation; for the spoiler cometh
suddenly upon us.

 I
have made you a tester of metals [and] a fortress among my people;
that you may know and try their
way.

have set thee among my people as an assayer, a fortress, that thou
mayest know and try
 their
way.
 A
watch-tower I have given thee, Among My people a fortress, And thou
knowest,
 and
hast tried their way.
 Jeremiah 6 28
 They
are all grievous rebels, going about with slanders; they are brass
and iron: they all of them deal
corruptly.

are all the most rebellious of rebels, going about with slander:

 Jeremiah 6 29
 The
bellows blow fiercely; the lead is consumed of the fire: in vain do
they go on refining; for the
wicked are not plucked away.
 The
bellows are burned, the lead is consumed by the fire; they have
melted, and melted in

vain; and the bad are not plucked away.
 The
bellows have been burnt, By fire hath the lead been consumed, In
vain hath a
 refiner
refined, And the wicked have not been drawn away.
 Jeremiah 6 30

silver shall men them, because Yahweh has rejected them.

 The
word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,
 The
word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,
 The
word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,
 Jeremiah 7 2
 Stand
in the gate of Yahweh`s house, and proclaim there this word, and say,
Hear the word of Yahweh,
all you of Judah, who enter in at these gates to worship Yahweh.
 Stand
in the gate of Jehovah`s house, and proclaim there this word, and
say, Hear ye the
 word
of Jehovah, all Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship
Jehovah.
 Stand
in the gate of the house of Jehovah, and thou hast proclaimed there
this
 word,
and hast said, Hear a word of Jehovah, all ye of Judah, who are
coming in at
 these
gates, to bow before Jehovah:
 Jeremiah 7 3
 Thus
says Yahweh of Hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your
doings, and I will cause you
to dwell in this place.
 Thus
saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Amend your ways and your
doings, and I will

cause you to dwell in this place.
 Thus
said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Amend your ways, and your
doings, And I
 cause
you to dwell in this place.
 Jeremiah 7 4
 Don`t
you trust in lying words, saying, The temple of Yahweh, the temple of
Yahweh, the temple of
Yahweh, are these.
 Confide
ye not in words of falsehood, saying, Jehovah`s temple, Jehovah`s
temple,
 Jehovah`s
temple is this.
 Do
not trust for yourselves Unto the words of falsehood, saying, The
temple of
 Jehovah,
the temple of Jehovah, The temple of Jehovah [are] they!
 Jeremiah 7 5
 For
if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if you thoroughly
execute justice
 between
a man and his neighbor;
 But
if ye thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, if ye really do
justice between a
 man
and his neighbour,
 For,
if ye do thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, If ye do
judgment
 thoroughly
Between a man and his neighbour,
 Jeremiah 7 6
 if
you don`t oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, and
don`t shed innocent blood in
this place, neither walk after other gods to your own hurt:
 [if]
ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed
no innocent
 blood
in this place, neither walk  after other gods to your hurt;
 Sojourner,
fatherless, and widow, ye oppress not, And innocent blood do not
shed
 in
this place, And after other gods do not walk, for evil to
yourselves,
 Jeremiah 7 7
 then
will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to
your fathers, from of old even
forevermore.
 then
will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to
your fathers from of
 old
even for ever.
 Then
I have caused you to dwell in this place, In the land that I gave to
your
 fathers,
From age even unto age.
 Jeremiah 7 8
 Behold,
you trust in lying words, that can`t profit.
 Behold,
ye confide in words of falsehood that cannot profit.
 Lo,
ye are trusting for yourselves On the words of falsehood, so as not
to profit.
 Jeremiah 7 9
 Will
you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn
incense to Baal, and walk
after other gods that you have not known,
 What?
steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn
incense unto Baal,

and walk after other gods whom ye know not ...
 Stealing,
murdering, and committing adultery, And swearing to falsehood, and
 giving
perfume to Baal, And going after other gods whom ye knew not.
 Jeremiah 7 10
 and
come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name,
and say, We are
 delivered;
that you may do all these abominations?
 then
ye come and stand before me, in this house which is called by my
name, and say, We
 are
delivered, -- in order to do all these abominations!
 And
ye have come in and stood before Me, In this house on which My name
is
 called,
And have said, `We have been delivered,` In order to do all these
 abominations.
 Jeremiah 7 11
 Is
this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in
your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it, says Yahweh.
 Is
this house, which is called by my name, a den of robbers in your
eyes? Even I, behold, I
 have
seen it, saith Jehovah.
 A
den of burglars hath this house, On which My name is called, been in
your eyes?
 Even
I, lo, I have seen, an affirmation of Jehovah.
 Jeremiah 7 12
 But
go you now to my place which was in Shiloh, where I caused my name to
dwell at the first, and
see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.
 For
go now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I caused my name to
dwell at the
 first,
and see what I did to it, for the wickedness of my people Israel.
 But
go ye, I pray you, Unto My place that [is] in Shiloh, Where I caused
My name to
 dwell
at first, And see that which I have done to it, For the wickedness
of My
 people
Israel.
 Jeremiah 7 13
 Now,
because you have done all these works, says Yahweh, and I spoke to
you, rising up early and speaking,
but you didn`t hear; and I called you, but you didn`t answer:
 And
now, because ye have done all these works, saith Jehovah, and I
spoke unto you, rising

up early and speaking, and ye heard not, and I called you, and ye
answered not;
 And
now, because of your doing all these works, An affirmation of
Jehovah, And I
 speak
unto you, rising early and speaking, And ye have not hearkened, And
I call
 you,
and ye have not answered,
 Jeremiah 7 14
 therefore
will I do to the house which is called by my name, in which you
trust, and to the place which
I gave to you and to your fathers, as I did to Shiloh.
 I
will even do unto the house which is called by my name, wherein ye
trust, and unto the
 place
which I gave to you and to  your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh;
 I
also to the house on which My name is called, In which ye are
trusting, And to
 the
place that I gave to you, and to your fathers, Have done, as I have
done to
 Shiloh.
 Jeremiah 7 15
 I
will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brothers,
even the whole seed of
 Ephraim.
 and
I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your
brethren, all the seed of Ephraim.
 And
I have cast you from before My face, As I have cast out all your
brethren, The
 whole
seed of Ephraim.
 Jeremiah 7 16
 Therefore
don`t you pray for this people, neither lift up a cry nor prayer for
them, neither make intercession to me; for I will not hear you.
 And
thou, pray not for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for
them, and make not
 intercession
to me; for I will not hear thee.
 And
thou dost not pray for this people, Nor lift up for them crying and
prayer, Nor

intercede with Me, for I hear thee not.
 Jeremiah 7 17
 Don`t
you see what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of
Jerusalem?
 Seest
thou not what they do in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of
Jerusalem?
 Art
thou not seeing what they are doing In cities of Judah, and in
streets of Jerusalem?
 Jeremiah 7 18
 The
children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women
knead the dough, to make
cakes to the queen of the sky, and to pour out drink-offerings to
other gods, that they may provoke
me to anger.
 The
children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women
knead dough,
 to
make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink-offerings
unto other gods,
 that
they may provoke me to anger.
 The
sons are gathering wood, And the fathers are causing the fire to
burn, And
 the
women are kneading dough, To make cakes to the queen of the heavens,
And to

pour out libations to other gods, So as to provoke Me to anger.
 Jeremiah 7 19
 Do
they provoke me to anger? says Yahweh; [do they] not [provoke]
themselves, to the confusion of
their own faces?
 Is
it I whom they provoke to anger? saith Jehovah; is it not
themselves, to the shame of
 their
own face?
 Me
are they provoking to anger? an affirmation of Jehovah, Is it not
themselves,
 For
the shame of their own faces?
 Jeremiah 7 20
 Therefore
thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, my anger and my wrath shall be
poured out on this place, on man, and on animal, and on the trees of the field, and on
the fruit of the ground; and it shall
burn, and shall not be quenched.
 Therefore
thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be
poured
 out
upon this place; upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the
field, and upon
 the
fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.
 Therefore,
thus said the Lord Jehovah, Lo, Mine anger and My fury is poured out
on

this place, On man, and beast, and on tree of the field, And on
fruit of the ground,
 And
it hath burned, and it is not quenched.
 Jeremiah 7 21
 Thus
says Yahweh of Hosts, the God of Israel: Add your burnt offerings to
your sacrifices, and eat you
flesh.
 Thus
saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Add your burnt-offerings
to your sacrifices,
 and
eat the flesh.
 Thus
said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Your burnt-offerings add to
your
 sacrifices,
And eat ye flesh.
 Jeremiah 7 22
 For
I didn`t speak to your fathers, nor command them in the day that I
brought them out of the land
of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:
 For
I spoke not unto your fathers, nor commanded them concerning
burnt-offerings and
 sacrifices,
in the day that I  brought them out of the land of Egypt;
 For
I did not speak with your fathers, Nor did I command them in the day
of My
 bringing
them out of the land of Egypt, Concerning the matters of
burnt-offering
 and
sacrifice,
 Jeremiah 7 23
 but
this thing I commanded them, saying, Listen to my voice, and I will
be your God, and you shall
be my people; and walk you in all the way that I command you, that it
may be well with you.
 but
I commanded them this thing, saying, Hearken unto my voice, and I
will be your God,
 and
ye shall be my people; and walk in all the way that I command you,
that it may be well

 with you.
 But
this thing I commanded them, saying: Hearken to My voice, And I have
been to

you for God, And ye -- ye are to Me for a people, And have walked in
all the way
 that
I command you, So that it is well for you.
 Jeremiah 7 24
 But
they didn`t listen nor turn their ear, but walked in [their own]
counsels [and] in the
 stubbornness
of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.
 But
they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the
counsels, in the
 stubbornness
of their evil heart, and went backward and not forward.
 And
they have not hearkened, nor inclined their ear, And they walk in
the
 counsels,
In the stubbornness, of their evil heart, And are for backward, and
not
 for
forward.
 Jeremiah 7 25
 Since
the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt to this
day, I have sent to you all
my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:
 Since
the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt, unto
this day, have I
 sent
unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and
sending them;
 Even
from the day when your fathers Went out of the land of Egypt till
this day, I
 send
to you all my servants the prophets, Daily rising early and sending,
 Jeremiah 7 26
 yet
they didn`t listen to me, nor inclined their ear, but made their neck
stiff: they did worse
 than
their fathers.
 but
they have not hearkened unto me, nor inclined their ear; and they
have hardened
 their
neck: they have done worse than their fathers.
 And
they have not hearkened unto Me, Nor inclined their ear, and harden
their
 neck,
They have done evil above their fathers.
 Jeremiah 7 27
 You
shall speak all these words to them; but they will not listen to you:
you shall also call to
 them;
but they will not answer you.
 And
thou shalt speak all these words unto them, but they will not
hearken unto thee; and
 thou
shalt call unto them, but they will not answer thee.
 And
thou hast spoken unto them all these words, And they do not hearken
to thee,
 And
thou hast called unto them, And they do not answer thee.
 Jeremiah 7 28
 You
shall tell them, This is the nation that has not listened to the
voice of Yahweh their God, nor received
instruction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.
 And
thou shalt say unto them, This is the nation which hath not
hearkened unto the voice

of Jehovah their God, nor received correction; fidelity is perished,
and is cut off from
 their
 mouth.
 And
thou hast said unto them: This [is] the nation that hath not
hearkened, To the
 voice
of Jehovah its God, Nor have they accepted instruction, Perished
hath
 stedfastness,
Yea, it hath been cut off from their mouth.
 Jeremiah 7 29
 Cut
off your hair, [Jerusalem], and cast it away, and take up a
lamentation on the bare heights; for
Yahweh has rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.
 Cut
off thy hair, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on the
heights; for Jehovah
 hath
rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.
 Cut
off thy crown, and cast [it] away, And lift up on high places
lamentation, For
 Jehovah
hath rejected, And He leaveth the generation of His wrath.
 Jeremiah 7 30
 For
the children of Judah have done that which is evil in my sight, says
Yahweh: they have set their
abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it.
 For
the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith  Jehovah;
they have set their
 abominations
in the house which is called by my name, to defile it.
 For
the sons of Judah Have done the evil thing in Mine eyes, An

 called
-- to defile it,

 They
have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the
son of Hinnom, to burn their
sons and their daughters in the fire; which I didn`t command, neither
came it into my mind.
 And
they have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley
of the son of
 Hinnom,
to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I
commanded not,
 neither
did it come up into my mind.
 And
have built the high places of Tophet, That [are] in the valley of
the son of
 Hinnom,
To burn their sons and their daughters with fire, Which I did not
 command,
Nor did it come up on My heart.
 Jeremiah 7 32
 Therefore,
behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that it shall no more be called
Topheth, nor The valley
of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of Slaughter: for they shall
bury in Topheth, until there
be no place [to bury].
 Therefore,
behold, days are coming, saith Jehovah, when it shall no more be
said,
 Topheth,
and Valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter; for
they shall bury
 in
Topheth, till there be no place.
 Therefore,
lo, days are coming, An affirmation of Jehovah, And it is not said
any
 more,
`The Tophet,` And `Valley of the son of Hinnom,` But `Valley of the
 slaughter,`
And they have buried in Tophet -- without place.

 The
dead bodies of this people shall be food for the birds of the sky,
and for the animals of the earth;
and none shall frighten them away.
 And
the carcases of this people shall be food for the fowl of the
heavens, and for the beasts

of the earth; and none shall scare [them] away.
 And
the carcase of this people hath been for food To a fowl of the
heavens, and to a
 beast
of the earth, And there is none troubling.
 Jeremiah 7 34
 Then
will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets
of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth
and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice
of the bride; for the land
shall become a waste.
 And
I will cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets
of Jerusalem, the
 voice
of mirth and the voice of joy, the voice of the bridegroom and the
voice of the
 bride;
for the land shall become a waste.
 And
I have caused to cease from cities of Judah, And from streets of
Jerusalem, The
 voice
of joy, and the voice of gladness, Voice of bridegroom, and voice of
bride, For

the land doth become a desolation!
 Jeremiah 8 1
 At
that time, says Yahweh, they shall bring out the bones of the kings
of Judah, and the bones of his
princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets,
and the bones of the inhabitants
of Jerusalem, out of their graves;
 At
that time, saith Jehovah, they shall bring forth the bones of the
kings of Judah, and the

bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of
the prophets, and the
 bones
of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves;

that time, an affirmation of Jehovah, They bring the bones of the

 Jeremiah 8 2
 and
they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host
of the sky, which they have
loved, and which they have served, and after which they have walked,
and which they have sought,
and which they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be
buried, they shall be for dung on the surface of the earth.
 and
they shall spread them out to the sun and to the moon and to all the
host of the
 heavens,
which they have loved, and which they have served, and after which
they have
 walked,
and which they have sought, and which they have worshipped: they
shall not be
 gathered,
nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the ground.
 And
have spread them to sun, and to moon, And to all the host of the
heavens, that
 they
have loved, And that they have served, And that they have walked
after, And
 that
they have sought, And to which they have bowed themselves, They are
not
 gathered,
nor buried, They are for dung on the face of the ground.
 Jeremiah 8 3
 Death
shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue that remain of
this evil family, that
 remain
in all the places where I have driven them, says Yahweh of Hosts.
 And
death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue that
remain of this evil
 family,
in all the places whither I have driven those that remain, saith
Jehovah of hosts.
 And
chosen is death rather than life By all the remnant who are left of
this evil

In all the remaining places, whither I have driven them, An
affirmation of
 Jehovah
of Hosts.

 Moreover
you shall tell them, Thus says Yahweh: Shall men fall, and not rise
up again? Shall one turn
away, and not return?
 And
thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah: Do [men] fall, and not
rise up? Doth one

turn away, and not return?
 And
thou hast said unto them: Thus said Jehovah, Do they fall, and not
rise? Doth
 he
turn back, and not return?
 Jeremiah 8 5
 Why
then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual
backsliding? they hold fast deceit,
they refuse to return.
 Why
hath this people of Jerusalem slidden back with a perpetual
backsliding? They hold
 fast
deceit, they refuse to return.
 Wherefore
hath this people of Jerusalem Turned back -- a perpetual
backsliding?
 They
have kept hold on deceit, They have refused to turn back.
 Jeremiah 8 6
 I
listened and heard, but they didn`t speak aright: no man repents him
of his wickedness,
 saying,
What have I done? everyone turns to his course, as a horse that
rushes headlong in the battle.
 I
hearkened and heard: they speak not what is right; there is no man
who repenteth him
 of
his wickedness, saying, What have I done? Every one turneth to his
course, like a horse

rushing into the battle.
 I
have given attention, yea, I hearken, They do not speak right, No
man hath
 repented
of his wickedness, Saying, What have I done? Every one hath turned
to
 his
courses, As a horse is rushing into battle.
 Jeremiah 8 7
 Yes,
the stork in the sky knows her appointed times; and the turtle-dove
and the swallow and the crane observe the time of their coming; but my people don`t know the
law of Yahweh.
 Even
a stork in the heavens knoweth her appointed times, and the
turtle-dove and the
 swallow
and the crane observe the time of their coming; but my people know
not the
 judgment
of Jehovah.
 Even
a stork in the heavens hath known her seasons, And turtle, and
swallow, and
 crane,
Have watched the time of their coming, And -- My people have not
known
 the
judgment of Jehovah.
 Jeremiah 8 8
 How
do you say, We are wise, and the law of Yahweh is with us? But,
behold, the false pen of the scribes
has worked falsely.
 How
do ye say, We are wise, and the law of Jehovah is with us? Behold,
certainly the lying
 pen
of the scribes hath made it falsehood.
 How
do ye say, We [are] wise, And the law of Jehovah [is] with us?
Surely, lo, falsely
 it
hath wrought, The false pen of scribes.
 Jeremiah 8 9
 The
wise men are put to shame, they are dismayed and taken: behold, they
have rejected the word
of Yahweh; and what manner of wisdom is in them?
 The
wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: behold, they have
rejected
 Jehovah`s
word; and what wisdom is in them?
 Ashamed
have been the wise, They have been affrighted, and are captured, Lo,
 against
a word of Jehovah they kicked, And the wisdom of what -- have they?
 Jeremiah 8 10
 Therefore
will I give their wives to others, and their fields to those who
shall possess them: for everyone
from the least even to the greatest is given to covetousness; from
the prophet even to the
priest every one deals falsely.
 Therefore
will I give their wives unto others, their fields to those that
shall possess
 [them];
for every one, from the least even unto the greatest, is given to
covetousness; from

the prophet even unto the priest, every one dealeth falsely.
 Therefore,
I give their wives to others, Their fields to dispossessors, For
from the
 least
even unto the greatest, Every one is gaining dishonest gain, From
prophet
 even
unto priest, every one is dealing falsely.
 Jeremiah 8 11
 They
have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying,
Peace, peace; when
 there
is no peace.
 And
they have healed the breach of the daughter of my people lightly,
saying, Peace,
 peace!
when there is no peace.
 And
they heal the breach of the daughter of my people slightly, Saying,
Peace,
 peace!
and there is no peace.
 Jeremiah 8 12
 Were
they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not
at all ashamed, neither
could they blush: therefore shall they fall among those who fall; in
the time of their visitation
they shall be cast down, says Yahweh.
 Are
they ashamed that they have committed abomination? Nay, they are not
at all
 ashamed,
and they know not how to blush. Therefore shall they fall among them
that fall:
 in
the time of their visitation they shall stumble, saith Jehovah.
 They
were ashamed when they did abomination! Yea, they are not at all
ashamed,
 And
blushing they have not known, Therefore, they do fall among falling
ones, In
 the
time of their inspection they stumble, said Jehovah.
 Jeremiah 8 13
 I
will utterly consume them, says Yahweh: there shall be no grapes on
the vine, nor figs on the fig-tree,
and the leaf shall fade; and [the things that] I have given them
shall pass away from them.
 I
will utterly take them away, saith Jehovah: there are no grapes on
the vine, nor figs on
 the
fig-tree; and the leaf is faded: and I will give them up to those
that shall pass over
 them.
 I
utterly consume them, an affirmation of Jehovah, There are no grapes
in the
 vine,
Yea, there are no figs in the fig-tree, And the leaf hath faded, And
the
 strength
they have passeth from them.
 Jeremiah 8 14
 Why
do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the
fortified cities, and let us be silent
there; for Yahweh our God has put us to silence, and given us water
of gall to drink, because
we have sinned against Yahweh.
 Why
do we sit still? Assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the
fenced cities, and let
 us
be silent there: for Jehovah our God hath put us to silence, and
given us water of gall to

drink, because we have sinned against Jehovah.
 Wherefore
are we sitting still? Be gathered, and we go in to the fenced
cities,
 And
we are silent there, For Jehovah our God hath made us silent, Yea,
He causeth
 us
to drink water of gall, For we have sinned against Jehovah.
 Jeremiah 8 15
 We
looked for peace, but no good came; [and] for a time of healing, and,
behold, dismay!
 Peace
is looked for, and there is no good; a time of healing, and behold,
terror.
 Looking
for peace -- and there is no good, For a time of healing, and lo,
terror.
 Jeremiah 8 16
 The
snorting of his horses is heard from Dan: at the sound of the
neighing of his strong ones the whole
land trembles; for they are come, and have devoured the land and all
that is in it; the city and
those who dwell therein.
 The
snorting of his horses is heard from Dan: the whole land trembleth
at the sound of
 the
neighing of his steeds, and they come, and devour the land, and all
it contains, the
 city
 and those that dwell therein.

 For,
behold, I will send serpents, adders, among you, which will not be
charmed; and they shall bite
you, says Yahweh.
 For
behold, I send among you serpents, vipers against which there is no
charm, and they
 shall
bite you, saith Jehovah.
 For,
lo, I am sending among you serpents, Vipers that have no charmer,
And they
 have
bitten you, an affirmation of Jehovah.
 Jeremiah 8 18
 Oh
that I could comfort myself against sorrow! my heart is faint within
me.
 My
comfort in my sadness! my heart is faint in me!
 My
refreshing for me [is] sorrow, For me my heart [is] sick.
 Jeremiah 8 19
 Behold,
the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people from a land that is
very far off: isn`t Yahweh
in Zion? Isn`t her King in her? Why have they provoked me to anger
with their
 engraved
images, and with foreign vanities?
 Behold
the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people, from a very far
country: Is not
 Jehovah
in Zion? Is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger
with their
 graven
images, with foreign vanities?
 Lo,
the voice of a cry of the daughter of my people from a land afar
off, Is Jehovah
 not
in Zion? is her king not in her? Wherefore have they provoked Me
with their
 graven
images, With the vanities of a foreigner?
 Jeremiah 8 20
 The
harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.
 The
harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.
 Harvest
hath passed, summer hath ended, And we -- we have not been saved.
 Jeremiah 8 21
 For
the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt: I mourn; dismay has
taken hold on me.
 --
For the breach of the daughter of my people am I crushed; I go
mourning; astonishment
 hath
taken hold of me.
 For
a breach of the daughter of my people have I been broken, I have
been black,
 astonishment
hath seized me.
 Jeremiah 8 22
 Is
there no balm in Gilead? is there no physician there? why then isn`t
the health of the
 daughter
of my people recovered?
 Is
there no balm in Gilead? is there no physician there? Why then is
there no dressing
 applied
for the healing of the daughter of my people?
 Is
there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? For wherefore
hath not
 the
health of the daughter of my people gone up?
 Jeremiah 9 1
 Oh
that my head were waters, and my eyes a spring of tears, that I might
weep day and night for the
slain of the daughter of my people!
 Oh
that my head were waters, and mine eye a fountain of tears, that I
might weep day and

night for the slain of the daughter of my people!
 Who
doth make my head waters, And mine eye a fountain of tears? And I
weep by
 day
and by night, For the wounded of the daughter of my people.
 Jeremiah 9 2
 Oh
that I had in the wilderness a lodging-place of wayfaring men; that I
might leave my people, and
go from them! for they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous
men.
 Oh
that I had in the wilderness a traveller`s lodging-place, that I
might leave my people,
 and
go away from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of
treacherous men.
 Who
doth give me in a wilderness A lodging-place of travellers? And I
leave my
 people,
and go from them, For all of them [are] adulterers, An assembly of
 treacherous
ones.
 Jeremiah 9 3
 They
bend their tongue, [as it were] their bow, for falsehood; and they
are grown strong in the land,
but not for truth: for they proceed from evil to evil, and they don`t
know me, says Yahweh.
 And
they bend their tongue, their bow of falsehood, and not for fidelity
are they valiant
 in
the land; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me,
saith Jehovah.
 And
they bend their tongue, their bow [is] a lie, And not for
stedfastness have
 they
been mighty in the land, For from evil unto evil they have gone
forth, And Me

they have not known, An affirmation of Jehovah!
 Jeremiah 9 4
 Take
you heed everyone of his neighbor, and don`t you trust in any
brother; for every brother will
utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go about with slanders.
 Take
ye heed every one of his friend, and confide not in any brother; for
every brother
 only
supplanteth, and every friend goeth about with slander.
 Each
of his friend -- beware ye, And on any brother, do not trust, For
every brother

doth utterly supplant, For every friend slanderously doth walk,
 Jeremiah 9 5
 They
will deceive everyone his neighbor, and will not speak the truth:
they have taught their tongue
to speak lies; they weary themselves to commit iniquity.
 And
they act deceitfully every one with his neighbour, and speak not the
truth: they
 teach
their tongue to speak falsehood, they weary themselves with perverse
dealing.
 And
each at his friend they mock, And truth they do not speak, They
taught their
 tongue
to speak falsehood, To commit iniquity they have laboured.
 Jeremiah 9 6
 Your
habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to
know me, says Yahweh.
 Thy
habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to
know me, saith
 Jehovah.
 thy
dwelling [is] in the midst of deceit, Through deceit they refused to
know Me,
 An
affirmation of Jehovah.
 Jeremiah 9 7
 Therefore
thus says Yahweh of Hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them;
for how [else] should I do, because of the daughter of my people?
 Therefore
thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, I will melt  them, and try them;
for how else
 could
I do for the daughter of my people?
 Therefore,
thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Lo, I am refining them, and have tried
them,
 For
how do I do because of the daughter of My people?
 Jeremiah 9 8
 Their
tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceit: one speaks peaceably to
his neighbor with his mouth,
but in his heart he lays wait for him.
 Their
tongue is a murderous arrow; it speaketh deceit. [A man] speaketh
peaceably to his

neighbour with his mouth, but in his heart he layeth his ambush.
 A
slaughtering arrow [is] their tongue, Deceit it hath spoken in its
mouth, Peace
 with
its neighbour it speaketh, And in its heart it layeth its ambush,
 Jeremiah 9 9
 Shall
I not visit them for these things? says Yahweh; shall not my soul be
avenged on such a
 nation
as this?
 Shall
I not visit them for these [things]? saith Jehovah; shall not my
soul be avenged on
 such
a nation as this?
 For
these things do not I see after them? An affirmation of Jehovah,
Against a
 nation
such as this doth not My soul avenge itself?
 Jeremiah 9 10
 For
the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the
pastures of the wilderness a lamentation,
because they are burned up, so that none passes through; neither can
men hear the voice
of the cattle; both the birds of the sky and the animals are fled,
they are gone.
 For
the mountains will I take up weeping and wailing, and for the
pastures of the
 wilderness,
a lamentation; for they are burnt up, so that none passeth through
them; and
 the
voice of the cattle is not heard. Both the fowl of the heavens and
the  beasts are fled;
 they
are gone.
 For
the mountains I lift up weeping and wailing, And for the habitations
of the
 wilderness
a lamentation, For they have been burnt up without any passing over,
 Nor
have they heard the voice of cattle, From the fowl of the heavens
unto the
 beast
they have fled, they have gone.
 Jeremiah 9 11
 I
will make Jerusalem heaps, a dwelling-place of jackals; and I will
make the cities of Judah a desolation,
without inhabitant.
 And
I will make Jerusalem heaps, a dwelling-place of jackals; and I will
make the cities of
 Judah
a desolation, without inhabitant.
 And
I make Jerusalem become heaps, A habitation of dragons, And the
cities of
 Judah
I make a desolation, Without inhabitant.
 Jeremiah 9 12
 Who
is the wise man, that may understand this? and [who is] he to whom
the mouth of Yahweh has
spoken, that he may declare it? why is the land perished and burned
up like a wilderness, so that none passes through?
 Who
is a wise man, that he may understand this? and he to whom the mouth
of Jehovah
 hath
spoken, that he may declare it? Why is the land perished, burnt up
like a
 wilderness,
so that none passeth through?
 Who
[is] the wise man? and he understandeth this, And he to whom the
mouth of
 Jehovah
spake? And he doth declare it, For what hath the land perished? It
hath
 been
burnt up as a wilderness, Without any passing through.
 Jeremiah 9 13
 Yahweh
says, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and
have not obeyed my
voice, neither walked therein,
 And
Jehovah saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before
them, and have
 not
hearkened unto my voice, nor walked in it,
 And
Jehovah saith: Because of their forsaking My law that I set before
them, And
 they
have not hearkened to My voice nor walked in it,
 Jeremiah 9 14
 but
have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and after the
Baals, which their
 fathers
taught them;
 but
have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and after the
Baals, as their
 fathers
taught them;
 And
they walk after the stubbornness of their heart, And after the
Baalim, that
 their
fathers taught them,
 Jeremiah 9 15
 therefore
thus says Yahweh of Hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will feed
them, even this people, with
wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.
 therefore
thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will feed
this people
 with
wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink,
 Therefore,
thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am causing them --
this
 people
-- to eat wormwood, And I have caused them to drink water of gall,
 Jeremiah 9 16
 I
will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they nor their
fathers have known; and I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them.
 and
will scatter them among the nations, whom neither they nor their
fathers have
 known;
and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them.
 And
I have scattered them among nations Which they knew not, they and
their
 fathers,
And have sent after them the sword, Till I have consumed them.
 Jeremiah 9 17
 Thus
says Yahweh of Hosts, Consider you, and call for the mourning women,
that they may come; and
send for the skillful women, that they may come:
 Thus
saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider, and call for the mourning women,
that they may
 come,
and send for the skilful  women, that they may come;
 Thus
said Jehovah of Hosts: Consider ye, and call for mourning women, And
they
 come,
And to the wise women send, and they come,
 Jeremiah 9 18
 and
let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may
run down with tears, and
our eyelids gush out with waters.
 and
let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may
run down with
 tears,
and our eyelids pour forth waters.
 And
they hasten, and lift up for us a wailing. And run down our eyes do
tears, And
 from
our eyelids do waters flow.
 Jeremiah 9 19
 For
a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we ruined! we are
greatly confounded,
 because
we have forsaken the land, because they have cast down our dwellings.
 For
a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled, sorely
put to shame! For
 we
have forsaken the land, for they have cast down our dwellings.
 For
-- a voice of wailing is heard from Zion: How have we been spoiled!
We have
 been
greatly ashamed, Because we have forsaken the land, Because they
have cast
 down
our tabernacles.
 Jeremiah 9 20
 Yet
hear the word of Yahweh, you women, and let your ear receive the word
of his mouth; and teach
your daughters wailing, and everyone her neighbor lamentation.
 Hear
then the word of Jehovah, ye women, and let your ear receive the
word of his mouth,
 and
teach your daughters wailing, and each one her companion
lamentation.
 But
hear, ye women, a word of Jehovah, And your ear receiveth a word of
His
 mouth,
And teach ye your daughters wailing, and each her neighbour
 Jeremiah 9 21
 For
death is come up into our windows, it is entered into our palaces; to
cut off the children
 from
outside, [and] the young men from the streets.
 For
death is come up through our windows, is entered into our palaces,
to cut off the
 children
from the street, the young men from the broadways.
 For
death hath come up into our windows, It hath come into our palaces,
To cut off

the suckling from without, Young men from the broad places.
 Jeremiah 9 22
 Speak,
Thus says Yahweh, The dead bodies of men shall fall as dung on the
open field, and as the handful
after the harvester; and none shall gather [them].
 Speak,
Thus saith Jehovah: Yea, the carcases of men shall fall as dung upon
the open field,
 and
as the handful after the reaper, and there shall be none to gather.
 Speak
thus -- an affirmation of Jehovah, And fallen hath the carcase of
man, As
 dung
on the face of the field, And as a handful after the reaper, And
there is none
 gathering.
 Jeremiah 9 23
 Thus
says Yahweh, Don`t let the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let
the mighty man glory in
his might, don`t let the rich man glory in his riches;
 Thus
saith Jehovah: Let not the wise glory in his wisdom, neither let the
mighty glory in
 his
might; let not the rich glory in his riches:
 Thus
said Jehovah: Let not the wise boast himself in his wisdom, Nor let
the
 mighty
boast himself in his might, Let not the rich boast himself in his
riches,
 Jeremiah 9 24
 but
let him who glories glory in this, that he has understanding, and
knows me, that I am
 Yahweh
who exercises lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness, in the
earth: for in these
 things
I delight, says Yahweh.
 but
let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and
knoweth me, that I
 [am]
Jehovah, who exercise loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness
in the earth;
 for
in these things I delight, saith Jehovah.
 But
-- in this let the boaster boast himself, In understanding and
knowing Me, For

I [am] Jehovah, doing kindness, Judgment, and righteousness, in the
earth, For in
 these
I have delighted, An affirmation of Jehovah.
 Jeremiah 9 25
 Behold,
the days come, says Yahweh, that I will punish all those who are
circumcised in [their] uncircumcision:
 Behold,
days are coming, saith Jehovah, when I will visit all [them that
are] circumcised
 with
the uncircumcised;
 Lo,
days are coming -- an affirmation of Jehovah, And I have laid a
charge on all
 circumcised
in the foreskin,
 Jeremiah 9 26
 Egypt,
and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all
that have the corners [of
their hair] cut off, who dwell in the wilderness; for all the nations
are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in heart.
 Egypt,
and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all
that have the
 corners
[of their beard] cut off, that dwell in the wilderness: for all the
nations are
 uncircumcised,
and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in heart.
 On
Egypt, and on Judah, and on Edom, And on the sons of Ammon, and on
Moab, And

on all cutting the corner [of the beard], Who are dwelling in the
wilderness, For
 all
the nations [are] uncircumcised, And all the house of Israel [are]
 uncircumcised
in heart!

Phm 1:1 Paul, a
prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, to Philemon, our
beloved fellow worker,
Phm 1:2 to the beloved
Apphia, to Archippus, our fellow soldier, and to the assembly in your
house:
Phm 1:3 Grace to you
and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Phm 1:4 I thank my God
always, making mention of you in my prayers,
Phm 1:5 hearing of your

Phm 1:6 that the
fellowship of your faith may become effective, in the knowledge of
every good thing which is in us in Christ Jesus.
Phm 1:7 For we have

Phm 1:12 I am sending

for the Good News.
Phm 1:14 But I was

Phm 1:19 I, Paul, write
this with my own hand: I will repay it (not to mention to you that

Phm 1:20 Yes, brother,
let me have joy from you in the Lord. Refresh my heart in the Lord.
Phm 1:21 Having

Phm 1:22 Also, prepare

is
a effort to understand the Bible by considering it from different
perspectives and different levels of literalcy. First, read the
World English Bible (the least literal-black

for comprehension of the text. Next, read both the World English

make comparisons and lastly, read all three versions (Young's is the

at one time to obtain an overview of the text. Doing this will make
you think about what
the

 yet
for love`s sake I rather beg, being such a one as Paul, the aged, and
now a prisoner also of Christ

 for
love`s sake I rather exhort, being such a one as Paul the aged, and

 because
of the love I rather entreat, being such an one as Paul the aged,

a prisoner of Jesus Christ;
 Philemon 1 10
 I
beg you for my child, whom I have fathered in my bonds, Onesimus,
 I
exhort thee for *my* child, whom I have begotten in [my] bonds,
Onesimus,
 I
entreat thee concerning my child -- whom I did beget in my bonds --
Onesimus,
 Philemon 1 11
 who
once was useless to you, but now is useful to you and to me;
 once
unserviceable to thee, but now serviceable to thee and to me:
 who
once was to thee unprofitable, and now is profitable to me and to
thee,
 Philemon 1 12
 I
am sending him back. You therefore receive him, that is, my own
heart,
 whom
I have sent back to thee: [but do *thou* receive] him, that is, *my*
bowels:
 whom
I did send again, and thou him (that is, my own bowels) receive,
 Philemon 1 13
 whom
I wanted to keep with me, that in your behalf he might minister to me
in the bonds of the gospel.
 whom
*I* was desirous of keeping with myself, that for thee he might
minister to me in
 the
bonds of the glad tidings;
 whom
I did wish to retain to myself, that in thy behalf he might minister
to me in

the bonds of the good news,
 Philemon 1 14
 But
I was willing to do nothing without your consent, that your goodness
would not be as of
 necessity,
but of free will.
 but
I have wished to do nothing without thy mind, that thy good might
not be as of
 necessity
but of willingness:
 and
apart from thy mind I willed to do nothing, that as of necessity thy
good deed
 may
not be, but of willingness,
 Philemon 1 15
 For
perhaps he was therefore separated from you for a while, that you
would have him forever,
 for
perhaps for this reason he has been separated [from thee] for a
time, that thou
 mightest
possess him fully for  ever;
 for
perhaps because of this he did depart for an hour, that age-duringly
thou
 mayest
have him,
 Philemon 1 16
 no
longer as a slave, but more than a slave, a beloved brother,
specially to me, but how much rather
to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.
 not
any longer as a bondman, but above a bondman, a beloved brother,
specially to me,
 and
how much rather to thee, both in [the] flesh and in [the] Lord?
 no
more as a servant, but above a servant -- a brother beloved,
especially to me,
 and
how much more to thee, both in the flesh and in the Lord!
 Philemon 1 17
 If
then you count me a partner, receive him as you would receive me.
 If
therefore thou holdest me to be a partner [with thee], receive him
as me;
 If,
then, with me thou hast fellowship, receive him as me,
 Philemon 1 18
 But
if he has wronged you at all, or owes you anything, put that to my
account.
 but
if he have wronged thee anything or owe anything [to thee], put this
to my account.
 and
if he did hurt to thee, or doth owe anything, this to me be
reckoning;
 Philemon 1 19
 I,
Paul, write this with my own hand: I will repay it (not to mention to
you that you owe to me even
your own self besides).
 *I*
Paul have written [it] with mine own hand; *I* will repay [it]: that
I say not to thee
 that
thou owest even thine own self also to me.
 I,
Paul did write with my hand, I -- I will repay; that I may not say
that also thyself,

besides, to me thou dost owe.
 Philemon 1 20
 Yes,
brother, let me have joy from you in the Lord. Refresh my heart in
the Lord.
 Yea,
brother, *I* would have profit of *thee* in [the] Lord: refresh my
bowels in Christ.
 Yes,
brother, may I have profit of thee in the Lord; refresh my bowels in
the Lord;
 Philemon 1 21
 Having
confidence in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will
do even beyond what I say.
 Being
confident of thine obedience, I have written to thee, knowing that
thou wilt do
 even
more than I say.
 having
been confident in thy obedience I did write to thee, having known
that
 also
above what I may say thou wilt do;
 Philemon 1 22
 Also,
prepare a guest room for me, for I hope that through your prayers I
will be restored to you.
 But
withal prepare me also a lodging; for I hope that I shall be granted
to you through
 your
prayers.
 and
at the same time also prepare for me a lodging, for I hope that
through your
 prayers
I shall be granted to you.
 Philemon 1 23
