The color of power by Gary Rose

To me, this is a very unusual picture. Why? Because of the colors of the lightning strike. Why do they appear red and blue when the hit the ground? - frankly, I don’t know. Curious, I went to Wikipedia1 for some information. I did see a couple of lightning colors, but no lightning strike variations from the usual white.

If I feel motivated, perhaps I will do a bit more research at another time, but for now, these strike colors remain a mystery. As I thought of these things I remembered God using lightning to attack Egypt. In short order, I found this passage...

Exodus 9 (World English Bible)
 22  Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, on man, and on animal, and on every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.”
  23  Moses stretched out his rod toward the heavens, and Yahweh sent thunder, hail, and lightning flashed down to the earth. Yahweh rained hail on the land of Egypt.
 24 So there was very severe hail, and lightning mixed with the hail, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.

As I perused the Wikipedia page, I was amazed at the sheer volume of information. Humans are in fact, very intelligent creatures!

But, what I didn’t see struck me as odd: not a mention of lightning control. However, every farm boy knows that barns have lightning rods to control the flow of the discharge to the ground. Controlling the flash seems to be a power not yet available to our species.

It can be done, for God did it. Hummm, I wonder what the colors of the lightning strike were? Red and blue Egyptians- now, there is a thought!!!

Isaiah 17-20

Isa 17:1 The burden of Damascus: "Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap.
Isa 17:2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken. They will be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
Isa 17:3 The fortress shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria. They will be as the glory of the children of Israel," says Yahweh of Armies.
Isa 17:4 "It will happen in that day that the glory of Jacob will be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh will become lean.
Isa 17:5 It will be like when the harvester gathers the wheat, and his arm reaps the grain. Yes, it will be like when one gleans grain in the valley of Rephaim.
Isa 17:6 Yet gleanings will be left there, like the shaking of an olive tree, two or three olives in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outermost branches of a fruitful tree," says Yahweh, the God of Israel.
Isa 17:7 In that day, people will look to their Maker, and their eyes will have respect for the Holy One of Israel.
Isa 17:8 They will not look to the altars, the work of their hands; neither shall they respect that which their fingers have made, either the Asherim, or the incense altars.
Isa 17:9 In that day, their strong cities will be like the forsaken places in the woods and on the mountain top, which were forsaken from before the children of Israel; and it will be a desolation.
Isa 17:10 For you have forgotten the God of your salvation, and have not remembered the rock of your strength. Therefore you plant pleasant plants, and set out foreign seedlings.
Isa 17:11 In the day of your planting, you hedge it in. In the morning, you make your seed blossom, but the harvest flees away in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.
Isa 17:12 Ah, the uproar of many peoples, who roar like the roaring of the seas; and the rushing of nations, that rush like the rushing of mighty waters!
Isa 17:13 The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters: but he will rebuke them, and they will flee far off, and will be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like the whirling dust before the storm.
Isa 17:14 At evening, behold, terror! Before the morning, they are no more. This is the portion of those who plunder us, and the lot of those who rob us.

Isa 18:1 Ah, the land of the rustling of wings, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia;
Isa 18:2 that sends ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of papyrus on the waters, saying, "Go, you swift messengers, to a nation tall and smooth, to a people awesome from their beginning onward, a nation that measures out and treads down, whose land the rivers divide!"
Isa 18:3 All you inhabitants of the world, and you dwellers on the earth, when a banner is lifted up on the mountains, look! When the trumpet is blown, listen!
Isa 18:4 For Yahweh said to me, "I will be still, and I will see in my dwelling place, like clear heat in sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest."
Isa 18:5 For before the harvest, when the blossom is over, and the flower becomes a ripening grape, he will cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks, and he will cut down and take away the spreading branches.
Isa 18:6 They will be left together for the ravenous birds of the mountains, and for the animals of the earth. The ravenous birds will summer on them, and all the animals of the earth will winter on them.
Isa 18:7 In that time, a present will be brought to Yahweh of Armies from a people tall and smooth, even from a people awesome from their beginning onward, a nation that measures out and treads down, whose land the rivers divide, to the place of the name of Yahweh of Armies, Mount Zion.

Isa 19:1 The burden of Egypt: "Behold, Yahweh rides on a swift cloud, and comes to Egypt. The idols of Egypt will tremble at his presence; and the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst.
Isa 19:2 I will stir up the Egyptians against the Egyptians, and they will fight everyone against his brother, and everyone against his neighbor; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.
Isa 19:3 The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst. I will destroy its counsel. They will seek the idols, the charmers, those who have familiar spirits, and the wizards.
Isa 19:4 I will give over the Egyptians into the hand of a cruel lord. A fierce king will rule over them," says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies.
Isa 19:5 The waters will fail from the sea, and the river will be wasted and become dry.
Isa 19:6 The rivers will become foul. The streams of Egypt will be diminished and dried up. The reeds and flags will wither away.
Isa 19:7 The meadows by the Nile, by the brink of the Nile, and all the sown fields of the Nile, will become dry, be driven away, and be no more.
Isa 19:8 The fishermen will lament, and all those who fish in the Nile will mourn, and those who spread nets on the waters will languish.
Isa 19:9 Moreover those who work in combed flax, and those who weave white cloth, will be confounded.
Isa 19:10 The pillars will be broken in pieces. All those who work for hire will be grieved in soul.
Isa 19:11 The princes of Zoan are utterly foolish. The counsel of the wisest counselors of Pharaoh has become stupid. How do you say to Pharaoh, "I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?"
Isa 19:12 Where then are your wise men? Let them tell you now; and let them know what Yahweh of Armies has purposed concerning Egypt.
Isa 19:13 The princes of Zoan have become fools. The princes of Memphis are deceived. They have caused Egypt to go astray, who are the cornerstone of her tribes.
Isa 19:14 Yahweh has mixed a spirit of perverseness in the midst of her; and they have caused Egypt to go astray in all of its works, like a drunken man staggers in his vomit.
Isa 19:15 Neither shall there be for Egypt any work, which head or tail, palm branch or rush, may do.
Isa 19:16 In that day the Egyptians will be like women. They will tremble and fear because of the shaking of the hand of Yahweh of Armies, which he shakes over them.
Isa 19:17 The land of Judah will become a terror to Egypt. Everyone to whom mention is made of it will be afraid, because of the plans of Yahweh of Armies, which he determines against it.
Isa 19:18 In that day, there will be five cities in the land of Egypt that speak the language of Canaan, and swear to Yahweh of Armies. One will be called "The city of destruction."
Isa 19:19 In that day, there will be an altar to Yahweh in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to Yahweh at its border.
Isa 19:20 It will be for a sign and for a witness to Yahweh of Armies in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to Yahweh because of oppressors, and he will send them a savior and a defender, and he will deliver them.
Isa 19:21 Yahweh will be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know Yahweh in that day. Yes, they will worship with sacrifice and offering, and will vow a vow to Yahweh, and will perform it.
Isa 19:22 Yahweh will strike Egypt, striking and healing. They will return to Yahweh, and he will be entreated by them, and will heal them.
Isa 19:23 In that day there will be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria; and the Egyptians will worship with the Assyrians.
Isa 19:24 In that day, Israel will be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth;
Isa 19:25 because Yahweh of Armies has blessed them, saying, "Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel my inheritance."

Isa 20:1 In the year that Tartan came to Ashdod, when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him, and he fought against Ashdod and took it;
Isa 20:2 at that time Yahweh spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, "Go, and loosen the sackcloth from off your waist, and take your shoes from off your feet." He did so, walking naked and barefoot.
Isa 20:3 Yahweh said, "As my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and a wonder concerning Egypt and concerning Ethiopia,
Isa 20:4 so the king of Assyria will lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Ethiopia, young and old, naked and barefoot, and with buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.
Isa 20:5 They will be dismayed and confounded, because of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.

Isa 20:6 The inhabitants of this coast land will say in that day, 'Behold, this is our expectation, where we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria. And we, how will we escape?' "

Isaiah 21-24

Isa 21:1 The burden of the wilderness of the sea. As whirlwinds in the South sweep through, it comes from the wilderness, from an awesome land.
Isa 21:2 A grievous vision is declared to me. The treacherous man deals treacherously, and the destroyer destroys. Go up, Elam; attack! I have stopped all of Media's sighing.
Isa 21:3 Therefore my thighs are filled with anguish. Pains have taken hold on me, like the pains of a woman in labor. I am in so much pain that I can't hear. I so am dismayed that I can't see.
Isa 21:4 My heart flutters. Horror has frightened me. The twilight that I desired has been turned into trembling for me.
Isa 21:5 They prepare the table. They set the watch. They eat. They drink. Rise up, you princes, oil the shield!
Isa 21:6 For the Lord said to me, "Go, set a watchman. Let him declare what he sees.
Isa 21:7 When he sees a troop, horsemen in pairs, a troop of donkeys, a troop of camels, he shall listen diligently with great attentiveness."
Isa 21:8 He cried like a lion: "Lord, I stand continually on the watchtower in the daytime, and every night I stay at my post.
Isa 21:9 Behold, here comes a troop of men, horsemen in pairs." He answered, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon; and all the engraved images of her gods are broken to the ground.
Isa 21:10 You are my threshing, and the grain of my floor!" That which I have heard from Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, I have declared to you.
Isa 21:11 The burden of Dumah. One calls to me out of Seir, "Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?"
Isa 21:12 The watchman said, "The morning comes, and also the night. If you will inquire, inquire. Come back again."
Isa 21:13 The burden on Arabia. In the forest in Arabia you will lodge, you caravans of Dedanites.
Isa 21:14 They brought water to him who was thirsty. The inhabitants of the land of Tema met the fugitives with their bread.
Isa 21:15 For they fled away from the swords, from the drawn sword, from the bent bow, and from the heat of battle.
Isa 21:16 For the Lord said to me, "Within a year, as a worker bound by contract would count it, all the glory of Kedar will fail,
Isa 21:17 and the residue of the number of the archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, will be few; for Yahweh, the God of Israel, has spoken it."

Isa 22:1 The burden of the valley of vision. What ails you now, that you have all gone up to the housetops?
Isa 22:2 You that are full of shouting, a tumultuous city, a joyous town; your slain are not slain with the sword, neither are they dead in battle.
Isa 22:3 All your rulers fled away together. They were bound by the archers. All who were found by you were bound together. They fled far away.
Isa 22:4 Therefore I said, "Look away from me. I will weep bitterly. Don't labor to comfort me for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Isa 22:5 For it is a day of confusion, and of treading down, and of perplexity, from the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, in the valley of vision; a breaking down of the walls, and a crying to the mountains."
Isa 22:6 Elam carried his quiver, with chariots of men and horsemen; and Kir uncovered the shield.
Isa 22:7 It happened that your choicest valleys were full of chariots, and the horsemen set themselves in array at the gate.
Isa 22:8 He took away the covering of Judah; and you looked in that day to the armor in the house of the forest.
Isa 22:9 You saw the breaches of the city of David, that they were many; and you gathered together the waters of the lower pool.
Isa 22:10 You numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and you broke down the houses to fortify the wall.
Isa 22:11 You also made a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the old pool. But you didn't look to him who had done this, neither did you have respect for him who purposed it long ago.
Isa 22:12 In that day, the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, called to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to dressing in sackcloth:
Isa 22:13 and behold, joy and gladness, killing cattle and killing sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine: "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we will die."
Isa 22:14 Yahweh of Armies revealed himself in my ears, "Surely this iniquity will not be forgiven you until you die," says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies.
Isa 22:15 Thus says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, "Go, get yourself to this treasurer, even to Shebna, who is over the house, and say,
Isa 22:16 'What are you doing here? Who has you here, that you have dug out a tomb here?' Cutting himself out a tomb on high, chiseling a habitation for himself in the rock!"
Isa 22:17 Behold, Yahweh will overcome you and hurl you away violently. Yes, he will grasp you firmly.
Isa 22:18 He will surely wind you around and around, and throw you like a ball into a large country. There you will die, and there the chariots of your glory will be, you shame of your lord's house.
Isa 22:19 I will thrust you from your office. You will be pulled down from your station.
Isa 22:20 It will happen in that day that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah,
Isa 22:21 and I will clothe him with your robe, and strengthen him with your belt. I will commit your government into his hand; and he will be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.
Isa 22:22 I will lay the key of the house of David on his shoulder. He will open, and no one will shut. He will shut, and no one will open.
Isa 22:23 I will fasten him like a nail in a sure place. He will be for a throne of glory to his father's house.
Isa 22:24 They will hang on him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, every small vessel, from the cups even to all the pitchers.
Isa 22:25 "In that day," says Yahweh of Armies, "the nail that was fastened in a sure place will give way. It will be cut down, and fall. The burden that was on it will be cut off, for Yahweh has spoken it."

Isa 23:1 The burden of Tyre. Howl, you ships of Tarshish! For it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in. From the land of Kittim it is revealed to them.
Isa 23:2 Be still, you inhabitants of the coast, you whom the merchants of Sidon, that pass over the sea, have replenished.
Isa 23:3 On great waters, the seed of the Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue. She was the market of nations.
Isa 23:4 Be ashamed, Sidon; for the sea has spoken, the stronghold of the sea, saying, "I have not travailed, nor brought forth, neither have I nourished young men, nor brought up virgins."
Isa 23:5 When the report comes to Egypt, they will be in anguish at the report of Tyre.
Isa 23:6 Pass over to Tarshish! Wail, you inhabitants of the coast!
Isa 23:7 Is this your joyous city, whose antiquity is of ancient days, whose feet carried her far away to travel?
Isa 23:8 Who has planned this against Tyre, the giver of crowns, whose merchants are princes, whose traffickers are the honorable of the earth?
Isa 23:9 Yahweh of Armies has planned it, to stain the pride of all glory, to bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth.
Isa 23:10 Pass through your land like the Nile, daughter of Tarshish. There is no restraint any more.
Isa 23:11 He has stretched out his hand over the sea. He has shaken the kingdoms. Yahweh has ordered the destruction of Canaan's strongholds.
Isa 23:12 He said, "You shall rejoice no more, you oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, pass over to Kittim. Even there you will have no rest."
Isa 23:13 Behold, the land of the Chaldeans. This people was not. The Assyrians founded it for those who dwell in the wilderness. They set up their towers. They overthrew its palaces. They made it a ruin.
Isa 23:14 Howl, you ships of Tarshish, for your stronghold is laid waste!
Isa 23:15 It will come to pass in that day that Tyre will be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. After the end of seventy years it will be to Tyre like in the song of the prostitute.
Isa 23:16 Take a harp; go about the city, you prostitute that has been forgotten. Make sweet melody. Sing many songs, that you may be remembered.
Isa 23:17 It will happen after the end of seventy years that Yahweh will visit Tyre, and she shall return to her wages, and will play the prostitute with all the kingdoms of the world on the surface of the earth.
Isa 23:18 Her merchandise and her wages will be holiness to Yahweh. It will not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise will be for those who dwell before Yahweh, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.

Isa 24:1 Behold, Yahweh makes the earth empty, makes it waste, turns it upside down, and scatters its inhabitants.
Isa 24:2 It will be as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the creditor, so with the debtor; as with the taker of interest, so with the giver of interest.
Isa 24:3 The earth will be utterly emptied and utterly laid waste; for Yahweh has spoken this word.
Isa 24:4 The earth mourns and fades away. The world languishes and fades away. The lofty people of the earth languish.
Isa 24:5 The earth also is polluted under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant.
Isa 24:6 Therefore the curse has devoured the earth, and those who dwell therein are found guilty. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
Isa 24:7 The new wine mourns. The vine languishes. All the merry-hearted sigh.
Isa 24:8 The mirth of tambourines ceases. The sound of those who rejoice ends. The joy of the harp ceases.
Isa 24:9 They will not drink wine with a song. Strong drink will be bitter to those who drink it.
Isa 24:10 The confused city is broken down. Every house is shut up, that no man may come in.
Isa 24:11 There is a crying in the streets because of the wine. All joy is darkened. The mirth of the land is gone.
Isa 24:12 The city is left in desolation, and the gate is struck with destruction.
Isa 24:13 For it will be so in the midst of the earth among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive tree, as the gleanings when the vintage is done.
Isa 24:14 These shall lift up their voice. They will shout for the majesty of Yahweh. They cry aloud from the sea.
Isa 24:15 Therefore glorify Yahweh in the east, even the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea!
Isa 24:16 From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs. Glory to the righteous! But I said, "I pine away! I pine away! woe is me!" The treacherous have dealt treacherously. Yes, the treacherous have dealt very treacherously.
Isa 24:17 Fear, the pit, and the snare, are on you who inhabitant the earth.
Isa 24:18 It will happen that he who flees from the noise of the fear will fall into the pit; and he who comes up out of the midst of the pit will be taken in the snare; for the windows on high are opened, and the foundations of the earth tremble.
Isa 24:19 The earth is utterly broken. The earth is torn apart. The earth is shaken violently.
Isa 24:20 The earth will stagger like a drunken man, and will sway back and forth like a hammock. Its disobedience will be heavy on it, and it will fall and not rise again.
Isa 24:21 It shall happen in that day that Yahweh will punish the army of the high ones on high, and the kings of the earth on the earth.
Isa 24:22 They shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison; and after many days shall they be visited.
Isa 24:23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed; for Yahweh of Armies will reign on Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem; and before his elders will be glory.

2 Thessalonians 3

2Th 3:1 Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread rapidly and be glorified, even as also with you;
2Th 3:2 and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men; for not all have faith.
2Th 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you, and guard you from the evil one.
2Th 3:4 We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you both do and will do the things we command.
2Th 3:5 May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ.
2Th 3:6 Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother who walks in rebellion, and not after the tradition which they received from us.
2Th 3:7 For you know how you ought to imitate us. For we didn't behave ourselves rebelliously among you,
2Th 3:8 neither did we eat bread from anyone's hand without paying for it, but in labor and travail worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you;
2Th 3:9 not because we don't have the right, but to make ourselves an example to you, that you should imitate us.
2Th 3:10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: "If anyone will not work, neither let him eat."
2Th 3:11 For we hear of some who walk among you in rebellion, who don't work at all, but are busybodies.
2Th 3:12 Now those who are that way, we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
2Th 3:13 But you, brothers, don't be weary in doing well.
2Th 3:14 If any man doesn't obey our word in this letter, note that man, that you have no company with him, to the end that he may be ashamed.
2Th 3:15 Don't count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
2Th 3:16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with you all.
2Th 3:17 The greeting of me, Paul, with my own hand, which is the sign in every letter: this is how I write.
2Th 3:18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

1 Timothy 1

1Ti 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Savior, and Christ Jesus our hope;
1Ti 1:2 to Timothy, my true child in faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
1Ti 1:3 As I urged you when I was going into Macedonia, stay at Ephesus that you might command certain men not to teach a different doctrine,
1Ti 1:4 neither to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which cause disputes, rather than God's stewardship, which is in faith--
1Ti 1:5 but the goal of this command is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and unfeigned faith;
1Ti 1:6 from which things some, having missed the mark, have turned aside to vain talking;
1Ti 1:7 desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand neither what they say, nor about what they strongly affirm.
1Ti 1:8 But we know that the law is good, if a man uses it lawfully,
1Ti 1:9 as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
1Ti 1:10 for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine;
1Ti 1:11 according to the Good News of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
1Ti 1:12 And I thank him who enabled me, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he counted me faithful, appointing me to service;
1Ti 1:13 although I was before a blasphemer, a persecutor, and insolent. However, I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
1Ti 1:14 The grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
1Ti 1:15 The saying is faithful and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
1Ti 1:16 However, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first, Jesus Christ might display all his patience, for an example of those who were going to believe in him for eternal life.
1Ti 1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
1Ti 1:18 This instruction I commit to you, my child Timothy, according to the prophecies which led the way to you, that by them you may wage the good warfare;
1Ti 1:19 holding faith and a good conscience; which some having thrust away made a shipwreck concerning the faith;
1Ti 1:20 of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I delivered to Satan, that they might be taught not to blaspheme.

Speaking the Truth in Love by Richard Mansel

Speaking the Truth in Love

The Apostle Paul told Timothy, "Preach the Word, be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching" (2 Timothy 4:2). Paul later said of himself, "Woe unto me if I do not preach the gospel!" (1 Corinthians 9:16). If you combine Matthew 28:18-19 and 1 Peter 2:9 you see that we all are required to teach the gospel to the lost.
But how do we ensure effectiveness? There is not a guarantee on that. Ultimately, we plant the seed but God gives the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6). One thing we can do is be certain we are speaking the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).
If you look at the things we most often lie about, you see that, for the most part, we lie so people will not get offended. But it is still a lie.
If we change Biblical truth to appease the listener we have lied (Isaiah 30:8-14).
John 8:37 says the "truth will set us free." First, we must be uncompromising when we proclaim the truth of God's Word. However, we must be flexible concerning men's hearts. Matthew 7:12 says, "Whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them." When we sit down to study with a prospect we must treat him with the same care and respect we would desire for ourselves.
Second, we must be persistent but patient. John 1:1-3 tells us that Jesus is the Word of God and Hebrews 13:8 adds that He is the "same yesterday, today and tomorrow." While the truth of Scripture never changes, our level of patience must continue to grow. Having someone overturn our core beliefs is a heart-wrenching process. When we study with someone we must be patient to allow them to go through the transformation and be understanding when it fails.
Third, we must be firm but factual. Our opinions and traditions should never dictate what we teach. Matthew 15:14 promises, "If the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch."
Finally, we must hold the line but be helpful. The gospel is to win souls and not to win arguments. Ephesians 6:10-17 says we are in a spiritual war with Satan and his forces. We are not at war with the sinner, only the sin. He has a soul that needs love and guidance.

Don't Let Them Waste Your Time by Jim McGuiggan

https://web.archive.org/web/20160426085303/http://jimmcguiggan.com/nonbelievers2.asp?id=20

Don't Let Them Waste Your Time

This might be hard for non-believers to swallow and even harder to practice but they shouldn't allow Christians to define themselves. Well, I told you it might he hard to swallow. But the truth is Christians didn't create themselves and who and what they are isn't determined by self-definition. Christians aren't what they think they are and they aren't what the world thinks they are. They are what God in Christ knows they are.
When you hear Christians talk foolishness about who and what they are do them a favour and send them back to the drawing-board. Sometimes we want to engage people in moral and ethical discussion without appealing to the biblical witness. This is foolishness because for Christians there is no real moral or ethical discourse that isn't rooted in their identity in Christ. When Christians say something like, "Let's leave the Bible out of the discussion and just work with rational categories" they're talking nonsense. They can't leave their roots behind and still speak as Christians. Being a Christian is more than being rational, it is being the image of Christ.
Non-believers should save themselves time and energy for better things. When you speak to a Christian make her or him stick to what it is that is distinctively Christian about them. Ask them about their gospel. Ask them about their Lord. Don't even bother to ask them how morally upright they think they are because what they have that is worth talking about is not their moral performance but their Lord and the gospel about him. And if you really are interested in getting to the heart of what it means to be a Christian you can only do it by listening to the gospel, which is about more than "getting saved". If Christ is not presented all talk about "getting saved" is meaningless because "saved" means something when related to Christ that it doesn't mean in any other context. Don't let Christians waste your time--if it's what you want to hear get them to tell you their gospel.

GOD REVEALS ALL by Alfred Shannon Jr.

GOD REVEALS ALL

God doesn’t hide his sunshine from the flower, or his rain from the fruit of the land, and God doesn’t hide his Word from mankind. Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world, and God has revealed all of his prophesies from Genesis to Revelation. He revealed it to the fathers, and to the prophets, and to the holy apostles by the Holy Spirit. We have it all today contained within the Word of God. God has done His part, and now it’s time for us to reveal our allegiance to Him by reading, studying, learning and obeying the perfect Will of God.
Acts 15:18; Isa 45:19; Isa 48:16; Deut 29:29; Amos 3:7; 2 Tim 3:16; 1 Pet 1:21; 1 Tim 4:13; 2 Tim 2:15; Mt 11:29; Jn 14:15; 1 Jn 5:3; Rom 12:2

A Closer Walk With God

A Closer walk with God
Intro. I believe that if you ask most Christians they will tell you that they would like to have a a closer relationship with God. Apart from accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior many of us are not quite sure what God wants and expects from us personally.  In Micah 6:6-8 we have an answer to that question. And what does our Lord and God really want from us? Are we to make all kind of offering and sacrifices or huge contributions to Him? No. Out of obligation to Him do we need to recite a list of prayers over and over for hours each day or go to church each time the door is open? Does God want and expect us to sell our homes and move to Africa to become missionaries? What exactly does God want and expect from you and me?
Read Micah 6:6-8 Here we see exactly what the Lord wants of us… “To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
“To act Justly” to me means that we need to act and be fair when it comes to how we act around others. It involves being honest and always doing the right thing. If we want to be close to God we can’t go around ling to and cheating others.  We need to give our best. This also includes our employers.
Then he said we need to…“To Love Mercy” to me this has to do with how we treat others.  The Hebrew word that Micah uses here and translates “mercy,” is a rich one. It is also carries the idea of, tender mercies, loving-kindness, steadfast love.  In relation to God’s mercy, it is used most often refers His grace, or of UNEXPECTED kindness. We are also to fill our hearts with compassion and kindness towards one another and be kind.
Notice also that the requirement here is not that we simply HAVE mercy, but rather we are to LOVE mercy. There is a big difference between the two. One is to do acts of kindness from a sense of obedience or obligation, but when we Love mercy and do kind acts it says a lot about one’s heart.
And finally Micah reports that God also really wants us to “HUMBLY WALK WITH HIM.”
“What does it mean to walk with God?”
Answer:
There are several people described as “walking with God” in the Bible, for one, Enoch in Genesis 5:24Noah is also described as “a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God (Genesis 6:9).
Walking with God is not an activity reserved for a select few. God desires all of His children to walk with Him.
What happens when we walk with someone? Imagine that you and a close friend are enjoying a walk down a country road or path.
You are in close proximity. You talk, laugh, listen, and share what’s on your hearts. Your attention is focused on this person to the exclusion of almost everything else. You notice the beauty around you or an occasional distraction, but only to point it out to your companion. You share it together. You are in harmony, and you both enjoy the peaceful time together.
Walking with God is kind of like that. When we enter into a heart felt relationship with God, He becomes our heart’s greatest desire and primary focus.
We need to realize that going to church and listening to a preacher or listening to a sermon on TV isn’t really time with God. Over and over in scripture we are told not to substitute anyone or anything for God. There is not substitute for spending time with God Himself, talking with Him, sharing our hearts with Him, and quietly listening for His response.
When we do this, things begin to happen.  As He becomes everything to us we are strengthened. Worship our Lord become an everyday part of us.
This walk is so much more than just going to church on Sunday morning.  A. W. Tozer states that the goal of every Christian should be to “live in a state of unbroken worship.” This is only possible when we walk with God.
Just like walking with a close friend requires saying “no” to other things we could do, walking with God requires letting go of anything that would be a distraction.
When the Bible speaks of “walking,” it often refers to a lifestyle. We can walk in the ways of the world as well. In the New Testament, walking with God is often called “walking in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:16Romans 8:4).
To walk with God means you have aligned your will with His. You don’t have to be perfect; none of us are. But our heart’s desire is to seek Him out and commune with Him and do our best to please HIM, and be willing to let His Spirit commune with us and conform us to the image of His Son.
I love the story of Enoch and his walk with God    In Genesis 5:21-24 it says, 21 When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah. 22 After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked faithfully with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters. 23 Altogether, Enoch lived a total of 365 years.   24 Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.” NIV
The NLT put it this way “ 21 When Enoch was 65 years old, he became the father of Methuselah. 22 After the birth of Methuselah, Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for another 300 years, and he had other sons and daughters. 23 Enoch lived 365 years, 24 walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him.” NLT
I like how the Amplified Bible translates this21 When Enoch was 65 years old, Methuselah was born. 22 Enoch walked [in habitual fellowship] with God after the birth of Methuselah 300 years and had other sons and daughters. 23 So all the days of Enoch were 365 years. 24 And Enoch walked [in habitual fellowship] with God; and he was not, for God took him [home with Him].”
It is evident that Enoch was a great man because:
– The writer stop in a long list of recited names to mention Enoch’s special relationship with God.
– Then Later in Hebrews 11:5 Enoch is listed with those in the ‘hall of fame of faith’. It says, By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.” For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.”
So what are some Results of Walking with God. David was a man who walked with God. One thing I like about David is how he wrote thoughts down which we now have preserved in the book of Psalms. For me it’s like peering into his personal diary or journal seeing his most intimate thoughts. In Ps. 16 we can read what spending time with God gave him.
Read Psalm 16:7-11
I will bless the Lord who guides me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
I know the Lord is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice.
My body rests in safety.
10 For you will not leave my soul among the dead
or allow your holy one to rot in the grave.
11 You will show me the way of life,
granting me the joy of your presence
and the pleasures of living with you forever.
For David walking with God provided Him with: Blessings, guidance, instruction, a sense of security knowing that His God was always right beside him. It enables him to rest, feel safe, it showed him the way of life, it gave him joy and gave him the hope of eternal life.
It is amazes me the depth of spiritual knowledge one can attain by spending much time with God. David understood so many things including the fact that God would allow him to be swept away at the end of his life, but rather he would be granted the joy of God’s own presence and would live with Him in HIS presence, forever.
Enoch also had special knowledge. Listen to what Jude records about Enoch in his letter. 14 Enoch, who lived in the seventh generation after Adam, prophesied about these people. He said, “Listen! The Lord is coming with countless thousands of his holy ones 15 to execute judgment on the people of the world. He will convict every person of all the ungodly things they have done and for all the insults that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”  16 These people are grumblers and complainers, living only to satisfy their desires. They brag loudly about themselves, and they flatter others to get what they want.”
Where did Enoch get this information about the Lord’s return and judgement? There is only one place he could have gotten this information, and that was from God Himself as he walked and talked with Him.
There is another good and positive thing seen in scripture that comes with walking with God. In Hebrews 5:11 also mentions the fact that Enoch pleased God. What Father doesn’t what his children to love him and be around him and share with him?
And finally, there is another blessing of walking with God;  Eternal Companionship. Somehow David knew and possessed the hope that he would one day live in God’s presence, forever.
In Enoch’s case, one day God simply took Enoch away. He probably took him home in Heaven.
Do you really want to be happy and know that you are doing what pleases God? Then act justly, always be fair, Love mercy, love to see it in others, love being kind on all occasions.
And learn to walk with God more. Get close to Him. Realize like David, that He is ever present; in your home, at work, in your car, in your bed, in church, everywhere, and then make it a practice to talk to Him. Share your inner most feelings and thought with Him. Thank Him and praise Him for His awesome nature and blessings. Like David share you concerns and fears and your belief that He will take care of you. And take time and be silent and just listen. I believe that God has His own special ways of communicating with us, of bringing us comfort, joy and strength.
It’s not something you have to do to get to heaven but it will make your life so much more better. I challenge you to make it a life goal to walk with Him, knowing that at any monent He is ready to walk with you.
