Daniel
9-12
Dan
9:1 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of
the Medes, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans,
Dan
9:2 in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the
books the number of the years about which the word of Yahweh came to
Jeremiah the prophet, for the accomplishing of the desolations of
Jerusalem, even seventy years.
Dan
9:3 I set my face to the Lord God, to seek by prayer and petitions,
with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.
Dan
9:4 I prayed to Yahweh my God, and made confession, and said, Oh,
Lord, the great and dreadful God, who keeps covenant and loving
kindness with those who love him and keep his commandments,
Dan
9:5 we have sinned, and have dealt perversely, and have done
wickedly, and have rebelled, even turning aside from your precepts
and from your ordinances;
Dan
9:6 neither have we listened to your servants the prophets, who
spoke in your name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to
all the people of the land.
Dan
9:7 Lord, righteousness belongs to you, but to us confusion of face,
as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of
Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near, and who are far off,
through all the countries where you have driven them, because of
their trespass that they have trespassed against you.
Dan
9:8 Lord, to us belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our
princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you.
Dan
9:9 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness; for we have
rebelled against him;
Dan
9:10 neither have we obeyed the voice of Yahweh our God, to walk in
his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
Dan
9:11 Yes, all Israel have transgressed your law, even turning aside,
that they should not obey your voice: therefore has the curse been
poured out on us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses
the servant of God; for we have sinned against him.
Dan
9:12 He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us, and
against our judges who judged us, by bringing on us a great evil; for
under the whole sky has not been done as has been done on Jerusalem.
Dan
9:13 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come on
us: yet have we not entreated the favor of Yahweh our God, that we
should turn from our iniquities, and have discernment in your truth.
Dan
9:14 Therefore has Yahweh watched over the evil, and brought it on
us; for Yahweh our God is righteous in all his works which he does,
and we have not obeyed his voice.
Dan
9:15 Now, Lord our God, who has brought your people forth out of the
land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and have gotten you renown, as at
this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.
Dan
9:16 Lord, according to all your righteousness, let your anger and
please let your wrath be turned away from your city Jerusalem, your
holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our
fathers, Jerusalem and your people are become a reproach to all who
are around us.
Dan
9:17 Now therefore, our God, listen to the prayer of your servant,
and to his petitions, and cause your face to shine on your sanctuary
that is desolate, for the Lord's sake.
Dan
9:18 My God, turn your ear, and hear; open your eyes, and see our
desolations, and the city which is called by your name: for we do not
present our petitions before you for our righteousness, but for your
great mercies' sake.
Dan
9:19 Lord, hear; Lord, forgive; Lord, listen and do; don't defer,
for your own sake, my God, because your city and your people are
called by your name.
Dan
9:20 While I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and
the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before
Yahweh my God for the holy mountain of my God;
Dan
9:21 yes, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I
had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly,
touched me about the time of the evening offering.
Dan
9:22 He instructed me, and talked with me, and said, Daniel, I am
now come forth to give you wisdom and understanding.
Dan
9:23 At the beginning of your petitions the commandment went forth,
and I am come to tell you; for you are greatly beloved: therefore
consider the matter, and understand the vision.
Dan
9:24 Seventy weeks are decreed on your people and on your holy city,
to finish disobedience, and to make an end of sins, and to make
reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting
righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the
most holy.
Dan
9:25 Know therefore and discern, that from the going forth of the
commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem to the Anointed One,
the prince, shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks: it shall be
built again, with street and moat, even in troubled times.
Dan
9:26 After the sixty-two weeks the Anointed One shall be cut off,
and shall have nothing: and the people of the prince who shall come
shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and its end shall be with a
flood, and even to the end shall be war; desolations are determined.
Dan
9:27 He shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in
the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering
to cease; and on the wing of abominations shall
come one who makes desolate; and even to
the full end, and that determined, shall wrath
be poured out on the desolate.
Dan
10:1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed
to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was
true, even a great warfare: and he understood the thing, and had
understanding of the vision.
Dan
10:2 In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three whole weeks.
Dan
10:3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine into my
mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, until three whole weeks
were fulfilled.
Dan
10:4 In the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by
the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel,
Dan
10:5 I lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold, a man clothed in
linen, whose thighs were girded with pure gold of Uphaz:
Dan
10:6 his body also was like the beryl, and his face as the
appearance of lightning, and his eyes as flaming torches, and his
arms and his feet like burnished brass, and the voice of his words
like the voice of a multitude.
Dan
10:7 I, Daniel, alone saw the vision; for the men who were with me
didn't see the vision; but a great quaking fell on them, and they
fled to hide themselves.
Dan
10:8 So I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there
remained no strength in me; for my comeliness was turned in me into
corruption, and I retained no strength.
Dan
10:9 Yet heard I the voice of his words; and when I heard the voice
of his words, then was I fallen into a deep sleep on my face, with my
face toward the ground.
Dan
10:10 Behold, a hand touched me, which set me on my knees and on the
palms of my hands.
Dan
10:11 He said to me, Daniel, you man greatly beloved, understand the
words that I speak to you, and stand upright; for to you am I now
sent. When he had spoken this word to me, I stood trembling.
Dan
10:12 Then said he to me, Don't be afraid, Daniel; for from the
first day that you did set your heart to understand, and to humble
yourself before your God, your words were heard: and I am come for
your words' sake.
Dan
10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me
twenty-one days; but, behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came
to help me: and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
Dan
10:14 Now I have come to make you understand what shall happen to
your people in the latter days; for the vision is yet for many
days:
Dan
10:15 and when he had spoken to me according to these words, I set
my face toward the ground, and was mute.
Dan
10:16 Behold, one in the likeness of the sons of men touched my
lips: then I opened my mouth, and spoke and said to him who stood
before me, my lord, by reason of the vision my sorrows are turned on
me, and I retain no strength.
Dan
10:17 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my
lord? for as for me, immediately there remained no strength in me,
neither was there breath left in me.
Dan
10:18 Then there touched me again one like the appearance of a man,
and he strengthened me.
Dan
10:19 He said, "Greatly beloved man, don't be afraid: peace be
to you, be strong, yes, be strong." When he spoke to me, I was
strengthened, and said, "Let my lord speak; for you have
strengthened me."
Dan
10:20 Then he said, "Do you know why I have come to you? Now I
will return to fight with the prince of Persia. When I go forth,
behold, the prince of Greece shall come.
Dan
10:21 But I will tell you that which is inscribed in the writing of
truth: and there is none who holds with me against these, but Michael
your prince."
Dan
11:1 "As for me, in the first year of Darius the Mede, I stood
up to confirm and strengthen him.
Dan
11:2 Now will I show you the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet
three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they
all: and when he has grown strong through his riches, he shall stir
up all against the realm of Greece.
Dan
11:3 A mighty king shall stand up, who shall rule with great
dominion, and do according to his will.
Dan
11:4 When he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall
be divided toward the four winds of the sky, but not to his
posterity, nor according to his dominion with which he ruled; for his
kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others besides these.
Dan
11:5 The king of the south shall be strong, and one
of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion;
his dominion shall be a great dominion.
Dan
11:6 At the end of years they shall join themselves together; and
the daughter of the king of the south shall come to the king of the
north to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the strength of
her arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm; but she shall be given
up, and those who brought her, and he who became the father of her,
and he who strengthened her in those times.
Dan
11:7 But out of a shoot from her roots shall one stand up in his
place, who shall come to the army, and shall enter into the fortress
of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall
prevail.
Dan
11:8 Also their gods, with their molten images, and
with their goodly vessels of silver and of gold, shall he carry
captive into Egypt; and he shall refrain some years from the king of
the north.
Dan
11:9 He shall come into the realm of the king of the south, but he
shall return into his own land.
Dan
11:10 His sons shall war, and shall assemble a multitude of great
forces, which shall come on, and overflow, and pass through; and they
shall return and war, even to his fortress.
Dan
11:11 The king of the south shall be moved with anger, and shall
come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north; and
he shall set forth a great multitude, and the multitude shall be
given into his hand.
Dan
11:12 The multitude shall be lifted up, and his heart shall be
exalted; and he shall cast down tens of thousands, but he shall not
prevail.
Dan
11:13 The king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a
multitude greater than the former; and he shall come on at the end of
the times, even of
years, with a great army and with much substance.
Dan
11:14 In those times there shall many stand up against the king of
the south: also the children of the violent among your people shall
lift themselves up to establish the vision; but they shall fall.
Dan
11:15 So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mound, and
take a well-fortified city: and the forces of the south shall not
stand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength
to stand.
Dan
11:16 But he who comes against him shall do according to his own
will, and none shall stand before him; and he shall stand in the
glorious land, and in his hand shall be destruction.
Dan
11:17 He shall set his face to come with the strength of his whole
kingdom, and with him equitable conditions; and he shall perform
them: and he shall give him the daughter of women, to corrupt her;
but she shall not stand, neither be for him.
Dan
11:18 After this shall he turn his face to the islands, and shall
take many: but a prince shall cause the reproach offered by him to
cease; yes, moreover, he shall cause his reproach to turn on him.
Dan
11:19 Then he shall turn his face toward the fortresses of his own
land; but he shall stumble and fall, and shall not be found.
Dan
11:20 Then shall stand up in his place one who shall cause a tax
collector to pass through the kingdom to maintain its glory; but
within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in
battle.
Dan
11:21 In his place shall stand up a contemptible person, to whom
they had not given the honor of the kingdom: but he shall come in
time of security, and shall obtain the kingdom by flatteries.
Dan
11:22 The overwhelming forces shall be overwhelmed from before him,
and shall be broken; yes, also the prince of the covenant.
Dan
11:23 After the league made with him he shall work deceitfully; for
he shall come up, and shall become strong, with a small people.
Dan
11:24 In time of security shall he come even on the fattest places
of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not
done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them prey, and
spoil, and substance: yes, he shall devise his devices against the
strongholds, even for a time.
Dan
11:25 He shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of
the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall war in
battle with an exceeding great and mighty army; but he shall not
stand; for they shall devise devices against him.
Dan
11:26 Yes, they who eat of his dainties shall destroy him, and his
army shall overflow; and many shall fall down slain.
Dan
11:27 As for both these kings, their hearts shall be to do mischief,
and they shall speak lies at one table: but it shall not prosper; for
yet the end shall be at the time appointed.
Dan
11:28 Then shall he return into his land with great substance; and
his heart shall be
against the holy covenant; and he shall do his
pleasure, and return to his own land.
Dan
11:29 At the time appointed he shall return, and come into the
south; but it shall not be in the latter time as it was in the
former.
Dan
11:30 For ships of Kittim shall come against him; therefore he shall
be grieved, and shall return, and have indignation against the holy
covenant, and shall do his pleasure:
he shall even return, and have regard to those who forsake the holy
covenant.
Dan
11:31 Forces shall stand on his part, and they shall profane the
sanctuary, even the fortress, and shall take away the continual burnt
offering, and they shall set up the
abomination that makes desolate.
Dan
11:32 Such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he pervert by
flatteries; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and do
exploits.
Dan
11:33 Those who are wise among the people shall instruct many; yet
they shall fall by the sword and by flame, by captivity and by spoil,
many days.
Dan
11:34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be helped with a little
help; but many shall join themselves to them with flatteries.
Dan
11:35 Some of those who are wise shall fall, to refine them, and to
purify, and to make them white, even to the time of the end; because
it is yet for the time appointed.
Dan
11:36 The king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt
himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak
marvelous things against the God of gods; and he shall prosper until
the indignation be accomplished; for that which is determined shall
be done.
Dan
11:37 Neither shall he regard the gods of his fathers, nor the
desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall magnify himself
above all.
Dan
11:38 But in his place shall he honor the god of fortresses; and a
god whom his fathers didn't know shall he honor with gold, and
silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
Dan
11:39 He shall deal with the strongest fortresses by the help of a
foreign god: whoever acknowledges him
he will increase with glory; and he shall cause them to rule over
many, and shall divide the land for a price.
Dan
11:40 At the time of the end shall the king of the south contend
with him; and the king of the north shall come against him like a
whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and
he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass
through.
Dan
11:41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries
shall be overthrown; but these shall be delivered out of his hand:
Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.
Dan
11:42 He shall stretch forth his hand also on the countries; and the
land of Egypt shall not escape.
Dan
11:43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of
silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; and the Libyans
and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.
Dan
11:44 But news out of the east and out of the north shall trouble
him; and he shall go forth with great fury to destroy and utterly to
sweep away many.
Dan
11:45 He shall plant the tents of his palace between the sea and the
glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall
help him.
Dan
12:1 "At that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince who
stands for the children of your people; and there shall be a time of
trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same
time: and at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who
shall be found written in the book.
Dan
12:2 Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake,
some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Dan
12:3 Those who are wise shall shine as the brightness of the
expanse; and those who turn many to righteousness as the stars
forever and ever.
Dan
12:4 But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to
the time of the end: many shall run back and forth, and knowledge
shall be increased."
Dan
12:5 Then I, Daniel, looked, and behold, there stood other two, the
one on the brink of the river on this side, and the other on the
brink of the river on that side.
Dan
12:6 One said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters
of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
Dan
12:7 I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of
the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand to
heaven, and swore by him who lives forever that it shall be for a
time, times, and a half; and when they have made an end of breaking
in pieces the power of the holy people, all these things shall be
finished.
Dan
12:8 I heard, but I didn't understand: then said I, my lord, what
shall be the issue of these things?
Dan
12:9 He said, Go your way, Daniel; for the words are shut up and
sealed until the time of the end.
Dan
12:10 Many shall purify themselves, and make themselves white, and
be refined; but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked
shall understand; but those who are wise shall understand.
Dan
12:11 From the time that the continual burnt
offering shall be taken away, and the
abomination that makes desolate set up, there shall be one thousand
two hundred ninety days.
Dan
12:12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three
hundred thirty-five days.
Dan
12:13 But go you your way until the end be; for you shall rest, and
shall stand in your lot, at the end of the days.

Hosea
1-4
Hos
1:1 The word of Yahweh that came to Hosea the son of Beeri, in the
days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in
the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.
Hos
1:2 When Yahweh spoke at first by Hosea, Yahweh said to Hosea, "Go,
take for yourself a wife of prostitution and children of
unfaithfulness; for the land commits great adultery, forsaking
Yahweh."
Hos
1:3 So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; and she
conceived, and bore him a son.
Hos
1:4 Yahweh said to him, "Call his name Jezreel; for yet a
little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel on the house of
Jehu, and will cause the kingdom of the house of Israel to cease.
Hos
1:5 It will happen in that day that I will break the bow of Israel
in the valley of Jezreel."
Hos
1:6 She conceived again, and bore a daughter. Then he said to him,
"Call her name Lo-Ruhamah; for I will no longer have mercy on
the house of Israel, that I should in any way pardon them.
Hos
1:7 But I will have mercy on the house of Judah, and will save them
by Yahweh their God, and will not save them by bow, sword, battle,
horses, or horsemen."
Hos
1:8 Now when she had weaned Lo-Ruhamah, she conceived, and bore a
son.
Hos
1:9 He said, "Call his name Lo-Amm; for you are not my people,
and I will not be yours.
Hos
1:10 Yet the number of the children of Israel will be as the sand of
the sea, which can't be measured nor numbered; and it will come to
pass that, in the place where it was said to them, 'You are not my
people,' they will be called 'sons of the living God.'
Hos
1:11 The children of Judah and the children of Israel will be
gathered together, and they will appoint themselves one head, and
will go up from the land; for great will be the day of Jezreel.
Hos
2:1 "Say to your brothers, 'My people!' and to your sisters,
'My loved one!'
Hos
2:2 Contend with your mother! Contend, for she is not my wife,
neither am I her husband; and let her put away her prostitution from
her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts;
Hos
2:3 Lest I strip her naked, and make her bare as in the day that she
was born, and make her like a wilderness, and set her like a dry
land, and kill her with thirst.
Hos
2:4 Indeed, on her children I will have no mercy; for they are
children of unfaithfulness;
Hos
2:5 For their mother has played the prostitute. She who conceived
them has done shamefully; for she said, 'I will go after my lovers,
who give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my
drink.'
Hos
2:6 Therefore, behold, I will hedge up your way with thorns, and I
will build a wall against her, that she can't find her way.
Hos
2:7 She will follow after her lovers, but she won't overtake them;
and she will seek them, but won't find them. Then she will say, 'I
will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with
me than now.'
Hos
2:8 For she did not know that I gave her the grain, the new wine,
and the oil, and multiplied to her silver and gold, which they used
for Baal.
Hos
2:9 Therefore I will take back my grain in its time, and my new wine
in its season, and will pluck away my wool and my flax which should
have covered her nakedness.
Hos
2:10 Now I will uncover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and
no one will deliver her out of my hand.
Hos
2:11 I will also cause all her celebrations to cease: her feasts,
her new moons, her Sabbaths, and all her solemn assemblies.
Hos
2:12 I will lay waste her vines and her fig trees, about which she
has said, 'These are my wages that my lovers have given me; and I
will make them a forest,' and the animals of the field shall eat
them.
Hos
2:13 I will visit on her the days of the Baals, to which she burned
incense, when she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels,
and went after her lovers, and forgot me," says Yahweh.
Hos
2:14 "Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into
the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her.
Hos
2:15 I will give her vineyards from there, and the valley of Achor
for a door of hope; and she will respond there, as in the days of her
youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.
Hos
2:16 It will be in that day," says Yahweh, "that you will
call me 'my husband,' and no longer call me 'my master.'
Hos
2:17 For I will take away the names of the Baals out of her mouth,
and they will no longer be mentioned by name.
Hos
2:18 In that day I will make a covenant for them with the animals of
the field, and with the birds of the sky, and with the creeping
things of the ground. I will break the bow, the sword, and the battle
out of the land, and will make them lie down safely.
Hos
2:19 I will betroth you to me forever. Yes, I will betroth you to me
in righteousness, in justice, in loving kindness, and in compassion.
Hos
2:20 I will even betroth you to me in faithfulness; and you shall
know Yahweh.
Hos
2:21 It will happen in that day, I will respond," says Yahweh,
"I will respond to the heavens, and they will respond to the
earth;
Hos
2:22 and the earth will respond to the grain, and the new wine, and
the oil; and they will respond to Jezreel.
Hos
2:23 I will sow her to me in the earth; and I will have mercy on her
who had not obtained mercy; and I will tell those who were not my
people, 'You are my people;' and they will say, 'My God!' "
Hos
3:1 Yahweh said to me, "Go again, love a woman loved by
another, and an adulteress, even as Yahweh loves the children of
Israel, though they turn to other gods, and love cakes of raisins."
Hos
3:2 So I bought her for myself for fifteen pieces of silver and a
homer and a half of barley.
Hos
3:3 I said to her, "You shall stay with me many days. You shall
not play the prostitute, and you shall not be with any other man. I
will also be so toward you."
Hos
3:4 For the children of Israel shall abide many days without king,
and without prince, and without sacrifice, and without sacred stone,
and without ephod or idols.
Hos
3:5 Afterward the children of Israel shall return, and seek Yahweh
their God, and David their king, and shall come with trembling to
Yahweh and to his blessings in the last days.
Hos
4:1 Hear the word of Yahweh, you children of Israel; for Yahweh has
a charge against the inhabitants of the land: "Indeed there is
no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land.
Hos
4:2 There is cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing
adultery; they break boundaries, and bloodshed causes bloodshed.
Hos
4:3 Therefore the land will mourn, and everyone who dwells therein
will waste away. all living things in her, even the animals of the
field and the birds of the sky; yes, the fish of the sea also die.
Hos
4:4 "Yet let no man bring a charge, neither let any man accuse;
For your people are like those who bring charges against a priest.
Hos
4:5 You will stumble in the day, and the prophet will also stumble
with you in the night; and I will destroy your mother.
Hos
4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have
rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you may be no priest
to me. Because you have forgotten your God's law, I will also forget
your children.
Hos
4:7 As they were multiplied, so they sinned against me. I will
change their glory into shame.
Hos
4:8 They feed on the sin of my people, and set their heart on their
iniquity.
Hos
4:9 It will be, like people, like priest; and I will punish them for
their ways, and will repay them for their deeds.
Hos
4:10 They will eat, and not have enough. They will play the
prostitute, and will not increase; because they have abandoned giving
to Yahweh.
Hos
4:11 Prostitution, wine, and new wine take away understanding.
Hos
4:12 My people consult with their wooden idol, and answer to a stick
of wood. Indeed the spirit of prostitution has led them astray, and
they have been unfaithful to their God.
Hos
4:13 They sacrifice on the tops of the mountains, and burn incense
on the hills, under oaks and poplars and terebinths, because its
shade is good. Therefore your daughters play the prostitute, and your
brides commit adultery.
Hos
4:14 I will not punish your daughters when they play the prostitute,
nor your brides when they commit adultery; because the men consort
with prostitutes, and they sacrifice with the shrine prostitutes; so
the people without understanding will come to ruin.
Hos
4:15 "Though you, Israel, play the prostitute, yet don't let
Judah offend; and don't come to Gilgal, neither go up to Beth Aven,
nor swear, 'As Yahweh lives.'
Hos
4:16 For Israel has behaved extremely stubbornly, like a stubborn
heifer. Then how will Yahweh feed them like a lamb in a meadow.
Hos
4:17 Ephraim is joined to idols. Leave him alone!
Hos
4:18 Their drink has become sour. They play the prostitute
continually. Her rulers dearly love their shameful way.
Hos
4:19 The wind has wrapped her up in its wings; and they shall be
disappointed because of their sacrifices.

Hosea
5-8
Hos
5:1 "Listen to this, you priests! Listen, house of Israel, and
give ear, house of the king! For the judgment is against you; for you
have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread on Tabor.
Hos
5:2 The rebels are deep in slaughter; but I discipline all of them.
Hos
5:3 I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from me; for now,
Ephraim, you have played the prostitute. Israel is defiled.
Hos
5:4 Their deeds won't allow them to turn to their God; for the
spirit of prostitution is within them, and they don't know Yahweh.
Hos
5:5 The pride of Israel testifies to his face. Therefore Israel and
Ephraim will stumble in their iniquity. Judah also will stumble with
them.
Hos
5:6 They will go with their flocks and with their herds to seek
Yahweh; but they won't find him. He has withdrawn himself from them.
Hos
5:7 They are unfaithful to Yahweh; for they have borne illegitimate
children. Now the new moon will devour them with their fields.
Hos
5:8 "Blow the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah! Sound
a battle cry at Beth Aven, behind you, Benjamin!
Hos
5:9 Ephraim will become a desolation in the day of rebuke. Among the
tribes of Israel, I have made known that which will surely be.
Hos
5:10 The princes of Judah are like those who remove a landmark. I
will pour out my wrath on them like water.
Hos
5:11 Ephraim is oppressed, he is crushed in judgment; Because he is
intent in his pursuit of idols.
Hos
5:12 Therefore I am to Ephraim like a moth, and to the house of
Judah like rottenness.
Hos
5:13 "When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, Then
Ephraim went to Assyria, and sent to king Jareb: but he is not able
to heal you, neither will he cure you of your wound.
Hos
5:14 For I will be to Ephraim like a lion, and like a young lion to
the house of Judah. I myself will tear in pieces and go away. I will
carry off, and there will be no one to deliver.
Hos
5:15 I will go and return to my place, until they acknowledge their
offense, and seek my face. In their affliction they will seek me
earnestly."
Hos
6:1 "Come, and let us return to Yahweh; for he has torn us to
pieces, and he will heal us; he has injured us, and he will bind up
our wounds.
Hos
6:2 After two days he will revive us. On the third day he will raise
us up, and we will live before him.
Hos
6:3 Let us acknowledge Yahweh. Let us press on to know Yahweh. As
surely as the sun rises, Yahweh will appear. He will come to us like
the rain, like the spring rain that waters the earth."
Hos
6:4 "Ephraim, what shall I do to you? Judah, what shall I do to
you? For your love is like a morning cloud, and like the dew that
disappears early.
Hos
6:5 Therefore I have cut them to pieces with the prophets; I killed
them with the words of my mouth. Your judgments are like a flash of
lightning.
Hos
6:6 For I desire mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God
more than burnt offerings.
Hos
6:7 But they, like Adam, have broken the covenant. They were
unfaithful to me, there.
Hos
6:8 Gilead is a city of those who work iniquity; it is stained with
blood.
Hos
6:9 As gangs of robbers wait to ambush a man, so the company of
priests murder in the way toward Shechem, committing shameful crimes.
Hos
6:10 In the house of Israel I have seen a horrible thing. There is
prostitution in Ephraim. Israel is defiled.
Hos
6:11 "Also, Judah, there is a harvest appointed for you, when I
restore the fortunes of my people.
Hos
7:1 When I would heal Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim is
uncovered, also the wickedness of Samaria; for they commit falsehood,
and the thief enters in, and the gang of robbers ravages outside.
Hos
7:2 They don't consider in their hearts that I remember all their
wickedness. Now their own deeds have engulfed them. They are before
my face.
Hos
7:3 They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes
with their lies.
Hos
7:4 They are all adulterers. They are burning like an oven that the
baker stops stirring, from the kneading of the dough, until it is
leavened.
Hos
7:5 On the day of our king, the princes made themselves sick with
the heat of wine. He joined his hand with mockers.
Hos
7:6 For they have made ready their heart like an oven, while they
lie in wait. Their baker sleeps all the night. In the morning it
burns as a flaming fire.
Hos
7:7 They are all hot as an oven, and devour their judges. All their
kings have fallen. There is no one among them who calls to me.
Hos
7:8 Ephraim, he mixes himself among the nations. Ephraim is a
pancake not turned over.
Hos
7:9 Strangers have devoured his strength, and he doesn't realize it.
Indeed, gray hairs are here and there on him, and he doesn't realize
it.
Hos
7:10 The pride of Israel testifies to his face; yet they haven't
returned to Yahweh their God, nor sought him, for all this.
Hos
7:11 "Ephraim is like an easily deceived dove, without
understanding. They call to Egypt. They go to Assyria.
Hos
7:12 When they go, I will spread my net on them. I will bring them
down like the birds of the sky. I will chastise them, as their
congregation has heard.
Hos
7:13 Woe to them! For they have wandered from me. Destruction to
them! For they have trespassed against me. Though I would redeem
them, yet they have spoken lies against me.
Hos
7:14 They haven't cried to me with their heart, but they howl on
their beds. They assemble themselves for grain and new wine. They
turn away from me.
Hos
7:15 Though I have taught and strengthened their arms, yet they plot
evil against me.
Hos
7:16 They return, but not to the Most High. They are like a faulty
bow. Their princes will fall by the sword for the rage of their
tongue. This will be their derision in the land of Egypt.
Hos
8:1 "Put the trumpet to your lips! Something like an eagle is
over Yahweh's house, because they have broken my covenant, and
rebelled against my law.
Hos
8:2 They cry to me, 'My God, we Israel acknowledge you!'
Hos
8:3 Israel has cast off that which is good. The enemy will pursue
him.
Hos
8:4 They have set up kings, but not by me. They have made princes,
and I didn't approve. Of their silver and their gold they have made
themselves idols, that they may be cut off.
Hos
8:5 Let Samaria throw out his calf idol! My anger burns against
them! How long will it be until they are capable of purity?
Hos
8:6 For this is even from Israel! The workman made it, and it is no
God; indeed, the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.
Hos
8:7 For they sow the wind, and they will reap the whirlwind. He has
no standing grain. The stalk will yield no head. If it does yield,
strangers will swallow it up.
Hos
8:8 Israel is swallowed up. Now they are among the nations like a
worthless thing.
Hos
8:9 For they have gone up to Assyria, like a wild donkey wandering
alone. Ephraim has hired lovers for himself.
Hos
8:10 But although they sold themselves among the nations, I will now
gather them; and they begin to waste away because of the oppression
of the king of mighty ones.
Hos
8:11 Because Ephraim has multiplied altars for sinning, they became
for him altars for sinning.
Hos
8:12 I wrote for him the many things of my law; but they were
regarded as a strange thing.
Hos
8:13 As for the sacrifices of my offerings, they sacrifice flesh and
eat it; But Yahweh doesn't accept them. Now he will remember their
iniquity, and punish their sins. They will return to Egypt.
Hos
8:14 For Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces; and Judah
has multiplied fortified cities; but I will send a fire on his
cities, and it will devour its fortresses."

1 John

1Jn 1:1
That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that
which we have seen with our eyes, that which we saw, and our hands
touched, concerning the Word of life
1Jn 1:2
(and the life was revealed, and we have seen, and testify, and
declare to you the life, the eternal life, which was with the Father,
and was revealed to us);
1Jn 1:3
that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also
may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the
Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
1Jn 1:4
And we write these things to you, that our joy may be fulfilled.
1Jn 1:5
This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to
you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
1Jn 1:6
If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness,
we lie, and don't tell the truth.
1Jn 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son,
cleanses us from all sin.
1Jn 1:8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth
is not in us.
1Jn 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us
the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Jn
1:10 If we say that we haven't sinned, we make him a liar, and his
word is not in us.
Dec. 12
1 John
2
1Jn 2:1
My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not
sin. If anyone sins, we have a Counselor with the Father, Jesus
Christ, the righteous.
1Jn 2:2
And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only,
but also for the whole world.
1Jn 2:3
This is how we know that we know him: if we keep his commandments.
1Jn 2:4
One who says, "I know him," and doesn't keep his
commandments, is a liar, and the truth isn't in him.
1Jn 2:5
But whoever keeps his word, God's love has most certainly been
perfected in him. This is how we know that we are in him:
1Jn 2:6
he who says he remains in him ought himself also to walk just like
he walked.
1Jn 2:7
Brothers, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment
which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word
which you heard from the beginning.
1Jn 2:8
Again, I write a new commandment to you, which is true in him and in
you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light already
shines.
1Jn 2:9
He who says he is in the light and hates his brother, is in the
darkness even until now.
1Jn
2:10 He who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no
occasion for stumbling in him.
1Jn
2:11 But he who hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in
the darkness, and doesn't know where he is going, because the
darkness has blinded his eyes.
1Jn
2:12 I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven
you for his name's sake.
1Jn
2:13 I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the
beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the
evil one. I write to you, little children, because you know the
Father.
1Jn
2:14 I have written to you, fathers, because you know him who is
from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are
strong, and the word of God remains in you, and you have overcome the
evil one.
1Jn
2:15 Don't love the world, neither the things that are in the world.
If anyone loves the world, the Father's love isn't in him.
1Jn
2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust
of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn't the Father's, but is the
world's.
1Jn
2:17 The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God's
will remains forever.
1Jn
2:18 Little children, these are the end times, and as you heard that
the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen. By
this we know that it is the final hour.
1Jn
2:19 They went out from us, but they didn't belong to us; for if
they had belonged to us, they would have continued with us. But they
left, that they might be revealed that none of them belong to us.
1Jn
2:20 You have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all have
knowledge.
1Jn
2:21 I have not written to you because you don't know the truth, but
because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.
1Jn
2:22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ?
This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.
1Jn
2:23 Whoever denies the Son, the same doesn't have the Father. He
who confesses the Son has the Father also.
1Jn
2:24 Therefore, as for you, let that remain in you which you heard
from the beginning. If that which you heard from the beginning
remains in you, you also will remain in the Son, and in the Father.
1Jn
2:25 This is the promise which he promised us, the eternal life.
1Jn
2:26 These things I have written to you concerning those who would
lead you astray.
1Jn
2:27 As for you, the anointing which you received from him remains
in you, and you don't need for anyone to teach you. But as his
anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is no
lie, and even as it taught you, you will remain in him.
1Jn
2:28 Now, little children, remain in him, that when he appears, we
may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
1Jn
2:29 If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who
practices righteousness is born of him.
Dec. 13
1 John
3
1Jn 3:1
Behold, how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we
should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn't
know us, because it didn't know him.
1Jn 3:2
Beloved, now we are children of God, and it is not yet revealed what
we will be. But we know that, when he is revealed, we will be like
him; for we will see him just as he is.
1Jn 3:3
Everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he
is pure.
1Jn 3:4
Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness.
1Jn 3:5
You know that he was revealed to take away our sins, and in him is
no sin.
1Jn 3:6
Whoever remains in him doesn't sin. Whoever sins hasn't seen him,
neither knows him.
1Jn 3:7
Little children, let no one lead you astray. He who does
righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1Jn 3:8
He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the
beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed, that he might
destroy the works of the devil.
1Jn 3:9
Whoever is born of God doesn't commit sin, because his seed remains
in him; and he can't sin, because he is born of God.
1Jn
3:10 In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of
the devil. Whoever doesn't do righteousness is not of God, neither is
he who doesn't love his brother.
1Jn
3:11 For this is the message which you heard from the beginning,
that we should love one another;
1Jn
3:12 unlike Cain, who was of the evil one, and killed his brother.
Why did he kill him? Because his works were evil, and his brother's
righteous.
1Jn
3:13 Don't be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you.
1Jn
3:14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we
love the brothers. He who doesn't love his brother remains in death.
1Jn
3:15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no
murderer has eternal life remaining in him.
1Jn
3:16 By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And
we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
1Jn
3:17 But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in
need, and closes his heart of compassion against him, how does the
love of God remain in him?
1Jn
3:18 My little children, let's not love in word only, neither with
the tongue only, but in deed and truth.
1Jn
3:19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and persuade our
hearts before him,
1Jn
3:20 because if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our
heart, and knows all things.
1Jn
3:21 Beloved, if our hearts don't condemn us, we have boldness
toward God;
1Jn
3:22 and whatever we ask, we receive from him, because we keep his
commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.
1Jn
3:23 This is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of
his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, even as he commanded.
1Jn
3:24 He who keeps his commandments remains in him, and he in him. By
this we know that he remains in us, by the Spirit which he gave us.
