Jeremiah
14-17
Jer
14:1 The word of Yahweh that came to Jeremiah concerning the
drought.
Jer
14:2 Judah mourns, and its gates languish, they sit in black on the
ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
Jer
14:3 Their nobles send their little ones to the waters: they come to
the cisterns, and find no water; they return with their vessels
empty; they are disappointed and confounded, and cover their heads.
Jer
14:4 Because of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has
been in the land, the plowmen are disappointed, they cover their
heads.
Jer
14:5 Yes, the hind also in the field calves, and forsakes her
young, because there is no grass.
Jer
14:6 The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights, they pant for air
like jackals; their eyes fail, because there is no herbage.
Jer
14:7 Though our iniquities testify against us, work you for your
name's sake, Yahweh; for our backslidings are many; we have sinned
against you.
Jer
14:8 You hope of Israel, its Savior in the time of trouble, why
should you be as a foreigner in the land, and as a wayfaring man who
turns aside to stay for a night?
Jer
14:9 Why should you be like a scared man, as a mighty man who can't
save? yet you, Yahweh, are in the midst of us, and we are called by
your name; don't leave us.
Jer
14:10 Thus says Yahweh to this people, Even so have they loved to
wander; they have not refrained their feet: therefore Yahweh does not
accept them; now he will remember their iniquity, and visit their
sins.
Jer
14:11 Yahweh said to me, Don't pray for this people for their
good.
Jer
14:12 When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer
burnt offering and meal offering, I will not accept them; but I will
consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.
Jer
14:13 Then said I, Ah, Lord Yahweh! behold, the prophets tell them,
You shall not see the sword, neither shall you have famine; but I
will give you assured peace in this place.
Jer
14:14 Then Yahweh said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name;
I didn't send them, neither have I commanded them, neither spoke I to
them: they prophesy to you a lying vision, and divination, and a
thing of nothing, and the deceit of their own heart.
Jer
14:15 Therefore thus says Yahweh concerning the prophets who
prophesy in my name, and I didn't send them, yet they say, Sword and
famine shall not be in this land: By sword and famine shall those
prophets be consumed.
Jer
14:16 The people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the
streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they
shall have none to bury them--them, their wives, nor their sons, nor
their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness on them.
Jer
14:17 You shall say this word to them, Let my eyes run down with
tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter
of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous
wound.
Jer
14:18 If I go forth into the field, then, behold, the slain with the
sword! and if I enter into the city, then, behold, those who are sick
with famine! for both the prophet and the priest go about in the
land, and have no knowledge.
Jer
14:19 Have you utterly rejected Judah? has your soul loathed Zion?
why have you struck us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for
peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and behold,
dismay!
Jer
14:20 We acknowledge, Yahweh, our wickedness, and the iniquity of
our fathers; for we have sinned against you.
Jer
14:21 Do not abhor us,
for your name's sake; do not disgrace the throne of your glory:
remember, don't break your covenant with us.
Jer
14:22 Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause
rain? or can the sky give showers? Aren't you he, Yahweh our God?
therefore we will wait for you; for you have made all these things.
Jer
15:1 Then said Yahweh to me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before
me, yet my mind would not be toward this people: cast them out of my
sight, and let them go forth.
Jer
15:2 It shall happen, when they tell you, Where shall we go forth?
then you shall tell them, Thus says Yahweh: Such as are for death, to
death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are
for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for captivity, to
captivity.
Jer
15:3 I will appoint over them four kinds, says Yahweh: the sword to
kill, and the dogs to tear, and the birds of the sky, and the animals
of the earth, to devour and to destroy.
Jer
15:4 I will cause them to be tossed back and forth among all the
kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh, the son of Hezekiah, king
of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem.
Jer
15:5 For who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? or who will bemoan
you? or who will turn aside to ask of your welfare?
Jer
15:6 You have rejected me, says Yahweh, you are gone backward:
therefore have I stretched out my hand against you, and destroyed
you; I am weary with repenting.
Jer
15:7 I have winnowed them with a fan in the gates of the land; I
have bereaved them
of children, I have destroyed my people; they didn't return from
their ways.
Jer
15:8 Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas; I
have brought on them against the mother of the young men a destroyer
at noonday: I have caused anguish and terrors to fall on her
suddenly.
Jer
15:9 She who has borne seven languishes; she has given up the
spirit; her sun is gone down while it was yet day; she has been
disappointed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver
to the sword before their enemies, says Yahweh.
Jer
15:10 Woe is me, my mother, that you have borne me a man of strife
and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have not lent, neither
have men lent to me; yet
everyone of them does curse me.
Jer
15:11 Yahweh said, Most certainly I will strengthen you for good;
most certainly I will cause the enemy to make supplication to you in
the time of evil and in the time of affliction.
Jer
15:12 Can one break iron, even iron from the north, and brass?
Jer
15:13 Your substance and your treasures will I give for a spoil
without price, and that for all your sins, even in all your borders.
Jer
15:14 I will make them
to pass with your enemies into a land which you don't know; for a
fire is kindled in my anger, which shall burn on you.
Jer
15:15 Yahweh, you know; remember me, and visit me, and avenge me of
my persecutors; don't take me away in your longsuffering: know that
for your sake I have suffered reproach.
Jer
15:16 Your words were found, and I ate them; and your words were to
me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart: for I am called by your name,
Yahweh, God of Armies.
Jer
15:17 I didn't sit in the assembly of those who make merry, nor
rejoiced; I sat alone because of your hand; for you have filled me
with indignation.
Jer
15:18 Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which
refuses to be healed? will you indeed be to me as a deceitful brook,
as waters that fail?
Jer
15:19 Therefore thus says Yahweh, If you return, then will I bring
you again, that you may stand before me; and if you take forth the
precious from the vile, you shall be as my mouth: they shall return
to you, but you shall not return to them.
Jer
15:20 I will make you to this people a fortified bronze wall; and
they shall fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you;
for I am with you to save you and to deliver you, says Yahweh.
Jer
15:21 I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and I will
redeem you out of the hand of the terrible.
Jer
16:1 The word of Yahweh came also to me, saying,
Jer
16:2 You shall not take a wife, neither shall you have sons or
daughters, in this place.
Jer
16:3 For thus says Yahweh concerning the sons and concerning the
daughters who are born in this place, and concerning their mothers
who bore them, and concerning their fathers who became the father of
them in this land:
Jer
16:4 They shall die grievous deaths: they shall not be lamented,
neither shall they be buried; they shall be as dung on the surface of
the ground; and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine;
and their dead bodies shall be food for the birds of the sky, and for
the animals of the earth.
Jer
16:5 For thus says Yahweh, Don't enter into the house of mourning,
neither go to lament, neither bemoan them; for I have taken away my
peace from this people, says Yahweh, even loving kindness and tender
mercies.
Jer
16:6 Both great and small shall die in this land; they shall not be
buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor
make themselves bald for them;
Jer
16:7 neither shall men break bread
for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men
give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for
their mother.
Jer
16:8 You shall not go into the house of feasting to sit with them,
to eat and to drink.
Jer
16:9 For thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Behold, I
will cause to cease out of this place, before your eyes and in your
days, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the
bridegroom and the voice of the bride.
Jer
16:10 It shall happen, when you shall show this people all these
words, and they shall tell you, Why has Yahweh pronounced all this
great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin
that we have committed against Yahweh our God?
Jer
16:11 Then you shall tell them, Because your fathers have forsaken
me, says Yahweh, and have walked after other gods, and have served
them, and have worshiped them, and have forsaken me, and have not
kept my law;
Jer
16:12 and you have done evil more than your fathers; for, behold,
you walk every one after the stubbornness of his evil heart, so that
you don't listen to me:
Jer
16:13 therefore will I cast you forth out of this land into the land
that you have not known, neither you nor your fathers; and there you
shall serve other gods day and night; for I will show you no favor.
Jer
16:14 Therefore, behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that it shall
no more be said, As Yahweh lives, who brought up the children of
Israel out of the land of Egypt;
Jer
16:15 but, As Yahweh lives, who brought up the children of Israel
from the land of the north, and from all the countries where he had
driven them. I will bring them again into their land that I gave to
their fathers.
Jer
16:16 Behold, I will send for many fishermen, says Yahweh, and they
shall fish them up; and afterward I will send for many hunters, and
they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and
out of the clefts of the rocks.
Jer
16:17 For my eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from my
face, neither is their iniquity concealed from my eyes.
Jer
16:18 First I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double,
because they have polluted my land with the carcasses of their
detestable things, and have filled my inheritance with their
abominations.
Jer
16:19 Yahweh, my strength, and my stronghold, and my refuge in the
day of affliction, to you shall the nations come from the ends of the
earth, and shall say, Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies,
even vanity
and things in which there is no profit.
Jer
16:20 Shall a man make to himself gods, which yet are no gods?
Jer
16:21 Therefore, behold, I will cause them to know, this once will I
cause them to know my hand and my might; and they shall know that my
name is Yahweh.
Jer
17:1 The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and
with the point of a diamond: it is engraved on the tablet of their
heart, and on the horns of your altars;
Jer
17:2 while their children remember their altars and their Asherim by
the green trees on the high hills.
Jer
17:3 My mountain in the field, I will give your substance and all
your treasures for a spoil, and
your high places, because of sin, throughout all your borders.
Jer
17:4 You, even of yourself, shall discontinue from your heritage
that I gave you; and I will cause you to serve your enemies in the
land which you don't know: for you have kindled a fire in my anger
which shall burn forever.
Jer
17:5 Thus says Yahweh: Cursed is the man who trusts in man, and
makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from Yahweh.
Jer
17:6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see
when good comes, but shall inhabit the parched places in the
wilderness, a salt land and not inhabited.
Jer
17:7 Blessed is the man who trusts in Yahweh, and whose trust Yahweh
is.
Jer
17:8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads
out its roots by the river, and shall not fear when heat comes, but
its leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of
drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
Jer
17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly
corrupt: who can know it?
Jer
17:10 I, Yahweh, search the mind, I try the heart, even to give
every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his
doings.
Jer
17:11 As the partridge that sits on eggs
which she has not laid, so is he who gets riches, and not by right;
in the midst of his days they shall leave him, and at his end he
shall be a fool.
Jer
17:12 A glorious throne, set
on high from the beginning, is the place of our sanctuary.
Jer
17:13 Yahweh, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you shall be
disappointed. Those who depart from me shall be written in the earth,
because they have forsaken Yahweh, the spring of living waters.
Jer
17:14 Heal me, O Yahweh, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall
be saved: for you are my praise.
Jer
17:15 Behold, they tell me, Where is the word of Yahweh? let it come
now.
Jer
17:16 As for me, I have not hurried from being a shepherd after you;
neither have I desired the woeful day; you know: that which came out
of my lips was before your face.
Jer
17:17 Don't be a terror to me: you are my refuge in the day of evil.
Jer
17:18 Let them be disappointed who persecute me, but let not me be
disappointed; let them be dismayed, but don't let me be dismayed;
bring on them the day of evil, and destroy them with double
destruction.
Jer
17:19 Thus said Yahweh to me: Go, and stand in the gate of the
children of the people, through which the kings of Judah come in, and
by which they go out, and in all the gates of Jerusalem;
Jer
17:20 and tell them, Hear you the word of Yahweh, you kings of
Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, that
enter in by these gates:
Jer
17:21 Thus says Yahweh, Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden
on the Sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem;
Jer
17:22 neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the Sabbath
day holy, neither do any work: but make the Sabbath day, as I
commanded your fathers.
Jer
17:23 But they didn't listen, neither turn their ear, but made their
neck stiff, that they might not hear, and might not receive
instruction.
Jer
17:24 It shall happen, if you diligently listen to me, says Yahweh,
to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the Sabbath
day, but to make the Sabbath day holy, to do no work therein;
Jer
17:25 then shall there enter in by the gates of this city kings and
princes sitting on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on
horses, they, and their princes, the men of Judah, and the
inhabitants of Jerusalem; and this city shall remain forever.
Jer
17:26 They shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places
around Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the
lowland, and from the hill country, and from the South, bringing
burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meal offerings, and
frankincense, and bringing sacrifices of
thanksgiving, to the house of Yahweh.
Jer
17:27 But if you will not listen to me to make the Sabbath day holy,
and not to bear a burden and enter in at the gates of Jerusalem on
the Sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in its gates, and it shall
devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.

is
a effort to understand the Bible by considering it from different
perspectives and different levels of literalcy. First, read the
World English Bible (the least literal-black

for comprehension of the text. Next, read both the World English

text)to
make comparisons and lastly, read all three versions (Young's is the
most literal translation-

at one time to obtain an overview of the text. Doing this will make
you think about what
the
Scriptures are actually saying and avoid reading in a superficial
manner.
Jeremiah
Jeremiah 14 1
The
word of Yahweh that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought.
The
word of Jehovah that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought.
That
which hath been the word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah concerning the
matters
of
the dearths:
Jeremiah 14 2
Judah
mourns, and the gates of it languish, they sit in black on the
ground; and the cry of
Jerusalem
is gone up.
Judah
mourneth, and the gates thereof languish, they are black unto the
ground; and the
cry
of Jerusalem goeth up.
Mourned
hath Judah, and her gates have languished, They have mourned to the
earth,
And the cry of Jerusalem hath gone up.
Jeremiah 14 3
Their
nobles send their little ones to the waters: they come to the
cisterns, and find no water; they
return with their vessels empty; they are put to shame and
confounded, and cover their heads.
And
their nobles send their little ones for water: they come to the
pits, they find no
water;
they return with their vessels empty; they are ashamed, they are
confounded, and
have
covered their heads.
And
their honourable ones have sent their little ones to the water, They
have
come
unto ditches, They have not found water, They have turned back --
their
vessels
empty! They have been ashamed, And have blushed and covered their
head.
Jeremiah 14 4
Because
of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has been in the land,
the plowmen are put
to shame, they cover their heads.
Because
the ground is chapt, for there hath been no rain on the earth, the
ploughmen are
ashamed, they cover their heads.
Because
the ground hath been broken, For there hath been no rain in the
land,
Ashamed
have been husbandmen, They have covered their head.
Jeremiah 14 5
Yes,
the hind also in the field calves, and forsakes [her young], because
there is no grass.
For
the hind also calveth in the field, and forsaketh [its young],
because there is no grass.
For
even the hind in the field hath brought forth -- to forsake [it!]
For there hath
been
no grass.
Jeremiah 14 6
The
wild donkeys stand on the bare heights, they pant for air like
jackals; their eyes fail,
because
there is no herbage.
And
the wild asses stand on the heights, they snuff up the wind like
jackals; their eyes
fail,
because there is no herbage.
And
wild asses have stood on high places, They have swallowed up wind
like
dragons,
Consumed have been their eyes, for there is no herb.
Jeremiah 14 7
Though
our iniquities testify against us, work you for your name`s sake,
Yahweh; for our
backslidings
are many; we have sinned against you.
Jehovah,
though our iniquities testify against us, do thou act for thy name`s
sake; for our
backslidings
are many -- we have sinned against thee.
Surely
our iniquities have testified against us, O Jehovah, work for Thy
name`s
sake,
For many have been our backslidings, Against Thee we have sinned.
Jeremiah 14 8
You
hope of Israel, the Savior of it in the time of trouble, why should
you be as a sojourner in the land,
and as a wayfaring man who turns aside to stay for a night?
Thou
hope of Israel, its Saviour in the time of trouble, why wilt thou be
as a stranger in
the
land, and as a traveller that turneth aside to stay a night?
O
Hope of Israel -- its saviour in time of trouble, Why art Thou as a
sojourner in
the
land? And as a traveller turned aside to lodge?
Jeremiah 14 9
Why
should you be like a scared man, as a mighty man who can`t save? yet
you, Yahweh, are in the
midst of us, and we are called by your name; don`t leave us.
Why
wilt thou be as a man astonished, as a mighty man that cannot save?
Yet thou,
Jehovah,
art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name: leave us not.
Why
art Thou as one dumb? As a mighty one not able to save? And Thou
[art] in
our
midst, O Jehovah, And Thy name over us is called, leave us not.
Jeremiah 14 10
Thus
says Yahweh to this people, Even so have they loved to wander; they
have not refrained their
feet: therefore Yahweh does not accept them; now will he remember
their iniquity, and visit
their sins.
Thus
saith Jehovah to this people: Even so have they loved to wander,
they have not
refrained
their feet; and Jehovah hath no delight in them: now will he
remember their
iniquity,
and visit their sins.
Thus
said Jehovah concerning this people: Well they have loved to wander,
Their
feet
they have not restrained, And Jehovah hath not accepted them, Now
doth He
remember
their iniquity, And inspect their sin.
Jeremiah 14 11
Yahweh
said to me, Don`t pray for this people for [their] good.
And
Jehovah said unto me, Pray not for this people for their good.
And
Jehovah saith unto me: Thou dost not pray for this people for good,
Jeremiah 14 12
When
they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt
offering and meal-offering, I will
not accept them; but I will consume them by the sword, and by the
famine, and by the pestilence.
When
they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer up
burnt-offering and
oblation,
I will not accept them: for I will consume them by sword, and by
famine, and by
pestilence.
When
they fast, I hearken not unto their cry, And when they cause to
ascend
burnt-offering
and present, I accept them not, For by sword, and by famine, And
by
pestilence, I am consuming them.
Jeremiah 14 13
Then
said I, Ah, Lord Yahweh! behold, the prophets tell them, You shall
not see the sword,
neither
shall you have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this
place.
And
I said, Alas, Lord Jehovah! Behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye
shall not see the
sword,
neither shall ye have famine; for I will give you assured peace in
this place.
And
I say, `Ah, Lord Jehovah, Lo, the prophets are saying to them: Ye do
not see a
sword,
yea, famine is not to you, For true peace I give to you in this
place.`
Jeremiah 14 14
Then
Yahweh said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name; I didn`t
send them, neither have
I commanded them, neither spoke I to them: they prophesy to you a
lying vision, and divination,
and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their own heart.
And
Jehovah said unto me, The prophets prophesy falsehood in my name; I
have not sent
them,
neither have I commanded them, nor spoken unto them: they prophesy
unto you a
false
vision, and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of
their heart.
And
Jehovah saith unto me: Falsehood the prophets are prophesying in My
name, I
did
not send them, nor command them, Nor have I spoken unto them: A
false
vision,
and divination, and vanity, And the deceit of their own heart, they
are
prophesying
to you.
Jeremiah 14 15
Therefore
thus says Yahweh concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, and
I didn`t send
them, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land: By
sword and famine shall those
prophets be consumed.
Therefore
thus saith Jehovah concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name,
and I
sent
them not, and who say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land:
By sword and by
famine
shall those prophets be consumed;
Therefore,
thus said Jehovah concerning the prophets who are prophesying in My
name,
and I have not sent them, and they are saying, Sword and famine is
not in
this
land: By sword and by famine are these prophets consumed.
Jeremiah 14 16
The
people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of
Jerusalem because of the famine
and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them-them, their
wives, nor their sons, nor
their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness on them.
and
the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of
Jerusalem,
because
of the famine and the sword; and there shall be none to bury them,
them, their
wives,
and their sons, and their daughters; and I will pour their
wickedness upon them.
And
the people to whom they are prophesying, Are cast into out-places of
Jerusalem,
Because of the famine, and of the sword, And they have none burying
them,
Them, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, And I have
poured
out
upon them this evil.
Jeremiah 14 17
You
shall say this word to them, Let my eyes run down with tears night
and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great
breach, with a very grievous wound.
And
thou shalt say this word unto them: Let mine eyes run down with
tears, night and
day,
and not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a
great breach,
with
a very grievous blow.
And
thou hast said unto them this word: Tears come down mine eyes night
and
day,
And they do not cease, For, [with] a great breach, Broken hath been
the
virgin
daughter of my people, A very grievous stroke.
Jeremiah 14 18
If
I go forth into the field, then, behold, the slain with the sword!
and if I enter into the city,
then,
behold, those who are sick with famine! for both the prophet and the
priest go about in the
land, and have no knowledge.
If
I go forth into the field, behold the slain with the sword! and if I
enter into the city,
behold
them that pine away with famine! For both prophet and priest shall
go about into
a
land that they know not.
If
I have gone forth to the field, Then, lo, the pierced of the sword!
And if I have
entered
the city, Then, lo, the diseased of famine! For both prophet and
priest
have
gone up and down Unto a land that they knew not.
Jeremiah 14 19
Have
you utterly rejected Judah? has your soul loathed Zion? why have you
struck us, and there is
no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a
time of healing, and, behold,
dismay!
--
Hast thou then utterly rejected Judah? Doth thy soul loathe Zion?
Why hast thou
smitten
us, and there is no healing for us? Peace is looked for, and there
is no good, -- and
a time of healing, and behold terror!
Hast
Thou utterly rejected Judah? Zion hath Thy soul loathed? Wherefore
hast
Thou
smitten us, And there is no healing to us? Looking for peace, and
there is no
good,
And for a time of healing, and lo, terror.
Jeremiah 14 20
We
acknowledge, Yahweh, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers;
for we have sinned against
you.
Jehovah,
we acknowledge our wickedness, the iniquity of our fathers; for we
have sinned
against
thee.
We
have known, O Jehovah, our wickedness, The iniquity of our fathers,
For we
have
sinned against Thee.
Jeremiah 14 21
Do
not abhor [us], for your name`s sake; do not disgrace the throne of
your glory: remember, don`t
break your covenant with us.
For
thy name`s sake, do not spurn [us], do not disgrace the throne of
thy glory: remember,
break not thy covenant with us.
Do
not despise, for Thy name`s sake, Dishonour not the throne of Thine
honour,
Remember,
break not Thy covenant with us.
Jeremiah 14 22
Are
there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? or
can the sky give
showers?
Aren`t you he, Yahweh our God? therefore we will wait for you; for
you have made all these
things.
Are
there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? or
can the heavens
give
showers? Art not thou HE, Jehovah, our God? And we wait upon thee;
for thou hast
made
all these things.
Are
there among the vanities of the nations any causing rain? And do the
heavens
give
showers? Art not Thou He, O Jehovah our God? And we wait for thee,
for Thou
--
Thou hast done all these!
Jeremiah 15 1
Then
said Yahweh to me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my
mind would not be toward
this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.
And
Jehovah said unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, my
soul [would] not
[turn] toward this people. Send [them] out of my sight, and let them
go forth.
And
Jehovah saith unto me: Though Moses and Samuel should stand before
Me, My
soul
is not toward this people, Send from before My face, and they go
out.

It
shall happen, when they tell you, Where shall we go forth? then you
shall tell them, Thus says Yahweh:
Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to
the sword; and such as are
for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for captivity, to
captivity.
And
it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go
forth? then thou shalt
tell them, Thus saith Jehovah: Such as are for death, to death; and
such as are for the
sword,
to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and
such as are for
captivity,
to captivity.
And
it hath come to pass, when they say to thee, Whither do we go out?
that thou
hast
said unto them, Thus said Jehovah: Those who [are] for death -- to
death, And
those
who are for the sword, to the sword, And those who are for famine,

famine,
And those who are for captivity, to captivity.

I
will appoint over them four kinds, says Yahweh: the sword to kill,
and the dogs to tear, and the birds
of the sky, and the animals of the earth, to devour and to destroy.
For
I will visit them with four kinds [of punishments], saith Jehovah:
the sword to slay,
and
dogs to tear, and the fowl of the heavens, and the beasts of the
earth, to devour and to
destroy.

will cause them to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of
the earth, because of Manasseh,
the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, for that which he did in
Jerusalem.
And
I will give them over to be driven hither and thither amongst all
the kingdoms of
the
earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, for
that which he did
in
Jerusalem.
And
I have given them for a trembling To all kingdoms of the earth,
Because of
Manasseh
son of Hezekiah king of Judah, For that which he did in Jerusalem.
Jeremiah 15 5
For
who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? or who will bemoan you? or who
will turn aside to ask of
your welfare?
For
who shall have pity upon thee, Jerusalem? and who shall bemoan thee?
and who shall
turn
aside to ask after thy welfare?
For
who hath pity on thee, O Jerusalem? And who doth bemoan for thee?
And who
turneth
aside to ask of thy welfare?
Jeremiah 15 6
You
have rejected me, says Yahweh, you are gone backward: therefore have
I stretched out my hand
against you, and destroyed you; I am weary with repenting.
Thou
hast cast me off, saith Jehovah, thou art gone backward; and I have
stretched out my
hand
against thee, and will destroy thee: I am become weary of repenting.

have winnowed them with a fan in the gates of the land; I have
bereaved [them] of children, I have
destroyed my people; they didn`t return from their ways.

I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave
of children [and]
destroy
my people: they have not returned from their ways.

Their
widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas; I have brought
on them against the mother
of the young men a destroyer at noonday: I have caused anguish and
terrors to fall on her suddenly.
Their
widows are increased to me more than the sand of the seas; I have
brought upon
them,
against the mother of the young men, a spoiler at noonday; I have
caused anguish
and
terror to fall upon her suddenly.
Its
widows have been more to Me than the sand of the seas, I brought in
to them --
against
the mother -- A young man -- a spoiler -- at noon. I caused to fall
upon her
suddenly,

She
who has borne seven languishes; she has given up the spirit; her sun
is gone down while it was
yet day; she has been put to shame and confounded: and the residue of
them will I deliver to the
sword before their enemies, says Yahweh.
She
that hath borne seven languisheth, she hath given up the ghost; her
sun is gone down
while it is yet day; she is put to shame and confounded. And the
residue of them will I
give
up to the sword before their enemies, saith Jehovah.

Woe
is me, my mother, that you have borne me a man of strife and a man of
contention to the whole
earth! I have not lent, neither have men lent to me; [yet] everyone
of them does curse me.
Woe
is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man
of contention to
the
whole land! I have not lent on usury, nor have they lent to me on
usury; [yet] every
one
of them doth curse me.
Wo
to me, my mother, For thou hast borne me a man of strife, And a man
of
contention
to all the land, I have not lent on usury, Nor have they lent on
usury to
me
-- All of them are reviling me.
Jeremiah 15 11
Yahweh
said, Most assuredly I will strengthen you for good; most assuredly I
will cause the
enemy
to make supplication to you in the time of evil and in the time of
affliction.

said, Verily I will set thee free for [thy] good; verily I will
cause the enemy to
meet
thee kindly in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.
Jehovah
said, Did I not direct thee for good? Did not I intercede for thee
in a time
of
evil, And in a time of adversity, with the enemy?

Your
substance and your treasures will I give for a spoil without price,

will make [them] to pass with your enemies into a land which you
don`t know; for a fire is
kindled
in my anger, which shall burn on you.

knowest not: for a

Yahweh,
you know; remember me, and visit me, and avenge me of my persecutors;
don`t take me away
in your longsuffering: know that for your sake I have suffered
reproach.
Jehovah,
thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and avenge me of my
persecutors; in
thy
long-suffering take me not away: know that for thy sake I bear

Your
words were found, and I ate them; and your words were to me a joy and
the rejoicing of my heart:
for I am called by your name, Yahweh, God of hosts.

words were found, and I did eat them, and thy words were unto me the
joy and
rejoicing
of my heart; for I am called by thy name, O Jehovah, God of hosts.

I
didn`t sit in the assembly of those who make merry, nor rejoiced; I
sat alone because of your hand;
for you have filled me with indignation.
I
sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor exulted: I sat alone
because of thy hand; for
thou
hast filled me with indignation.
I
have not sat in an assembly of deriders, Nor do I exult, because of
thy hand, --

I have sat, For [with] indignation Thou hast filled me.
Jeremiah 15 18
Why
is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuses to be
healed? will you indeed be
to me as a deceitful [brook], as waters that fail?
Why
is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable? It refuseth to be
healed. Wilt thou
be
altogether unto me as a treacherous [spring], [as] waters that fail?
Why
hath my pain been perpetual? And my wound incurable? It hath refused
to be
healed, Thou art surely to me as a failing stream, Waters not
stedfast.

Therefore
thus says Yahweh, If you return, then will I bring you again, that
you may stand before me; and if you take forth the precious from the vile, you shall be as
my mouth: they shall return to
you, but you shall not return to them.
Therefore
thus saith Jehovah: If thou return, then will I bring thee again,
thou shalt
stand
before me; and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou
shalt be as my
mouth.
Let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them.

mouth
thou art! They -- they turn back unto thee, And thou dost not turn
back
unto

shall fight against

that are born
in
this place, and concerning their mothers that bear them, and
concerning their
fathers
that beget them in this land:

They
shall die grievous deaths: they shall not be lamented, neither shall
they be buried; they shall
be as dung on the surface of the ground; and they shall be consumed
by the sword, and by famine;
and their dead bodies shall be food for the birds of the sky, and for
the animals of the earth.
They
shall die of painful deaths; they shall not be lamented, neither
shall they be buried;
they
shall be as dung upon the face of the ground, and they shall be
consumed by the

thus saith Jehovah: Enter not into the house of wailing, neither go
to lament or
bemoan
them; for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith

neither
shall men break [bread] for them in mourning, to comfort them for the

the dead; neither
shall they give them the cup of consolations to drink for their

shall not go into the house of feasting to sit with them, to eat and

It
shall happen, when you shall show this people all these words, and
they shall tell you, Why has Yahweh
pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity?
or what is our sin that
we have committed against Yahweh our God?
And
it shall come to pass, when thou shalt declare unto this people all
these words, and
they
shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath Jehovah pronounced all this
great evil against
us?
and what is our iniquity? and what is our sin which we have
committed against
Jehovah
our God?

Then
shall you tell them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, says
Yahweh, and have walked after
other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have
forsaken me, and have
not kept my law;
then
shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me,

you, ye have done still worse than your fathers; and there ye are
walking every one
after
the stubbornness of his evil heart, not to hearken unto me:

will I cast you forth out of this land into the land that you have
not known, neither you nor your fathers; and there shall you serve other gods day and night;

and
I will cast you forth out of this land, into a land that ye know
not, ye nor your fathers;
and there shall ye serve other gods day and night: because I will
shew you no favour.

I have cast you from off this land, On to a land that ye have not
known, Ye and

not
give to you grace.

their land that I gave to
their fathers.
but,
[As] Jehovah liveth, who brought up the children of Israel from the
land of the north,
and
from all the lands whither he had driven them. For I will bring them
again into
their
land, which I gave unto their fathers.
But,

of the north,
And out of all the lands whither He drove them,` And I have brought
them back to
their
land, That I gave to their fathers.

Behold,
I will send for many fishermen, says Yahweh, and they shall fish them
up; and afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every
mountain, and from every hill, and
out of the clefts of the rocks.
Behold,
I will send for many fishers, saith Jehovah, and they shall fish
them; and

For
my eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from my face,
neither is their iniquity concealed
from my eyes.

First
I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double, because they
have polluted my land with
the carcasses of their detestable things, and have filled my
inheritance with their
abominations.
But
first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double, because
they have
profaned
my land with the carcases of their detestable things, and with their
abominations
have they filled mine inheritance.
And
I have recompensed a first -- A second time -- their iniquity and
their sin,
Because

Yea,
their abominable things have filled Mine inheritance.

Yahweh,
my strength, and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of
affliction, to you shall the nations
come from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Our fathers have
inherited nothing but lies,
[even] vanity and things in which there is no profit.
Jehovah,
my strength and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of distress,
unto thee
shall
the nations come from the ends of the earth, and they shall say,
Surely our fathers
have
inherited falsehood [and] vanity; and in these things there is no
profit.

did our
fathers
inherit, Vanity, and none among them is profitable.

behold, I will cause them to know, this once will I cause them to
know my hand and my
might; and they shall know that my name is Yahweh.

know my hand
and my might; and they shall know that my name is Jehovah.

lo, I am causing them to know at this time, I cause them to know My
hand
and My might, And they have known that My name [is] Jehovah!

sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, [and] with the point of a
diamond: it is engraved on
the tablet of their heart, and on the horns of your altars;

while
their children remember their altars and their Asherim by the green
trees on the high hills.

their sons remember their altars and their shrines, By the green
tree, by the
high
hills.

mountain in the field, I will give your substance and all your
treasures for a spoil, [and] your high places, because of sin, throughout all your borders.

even of yourself, shall discontinue from your heritage that I gave
you; and I will cause you to
serve your enemies in the land which you don`t know: for you have
kindled a fire in my anger which
shall burn forever.
And
of thyself thou shalt let go thine inheritance which I gave thee;
and I will cause thee
to
serve thine enemies in a land that thou knowest not; for ye have
kindled a fire in mine
anger, -- it shall burn for ever.
And
thou hast let go -- even through thyself, Of thine inheritance that
I gave to
thee,
And I have caused thee to serve thine enemies, In a land that thou
hast not
known,
For a fire ye have kindled in Mine anger, Unto the age it doth burn.

For
he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good
comes, but shall inhabit the
parched places in the wilderness, a salt land and not inhabited.
And
he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when
good cometh; but he
shall
inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, a salt land and not

cometh,
And hath inhabited parched places in a wilderness, A salt land, and
not
inhabited.

For
he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads out its
roots by the river, and shall not
fear when heat comes, but its leaf shall be green; and shall not be
careful in the year of drought,
neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
For
he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth
out its roots by the
stream,
and he shall not see when heat cometh, but his leaf shall be green;
and in the year
of drought he shall not be careful, neither shall he cease to yield
fruit.
And
hath been as a tree planted by waters, And by a rivulet he sendeth
forth his
roots,
And he doth not see when heat cometh, And his leaf hath been green,
And in
a year of dearth he is not sorrowful, Nor doth he cease from making
fruit.
Jeremiah 17 9
The
heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt:
who can know it?
The
heart is deceitful above all things, and incurable; who can know it?
Crooked
[is] the heart above all things, And it [is] incurable -- who doth
know it?
Jeremiah 17 10
I,
Yahweh, search the mind, I try the heart, even to give every man
according to his ways,
according
to the fruit of his doings.
I
Jehovah search the heart, I try the reins, even to give each one
according to his ways,
according
to the fruit of his doings.
I
Jehovah do search the heart, try the reins, Even to give to each
according to his
way,
According to the fruit of his doings.
Jeremiah 17 11
As
the partridge that sits on [eggs] which she has not laid, so is he
who gets riches, and not by right;
in the midst of his days they shall leave him, and at his end he
shall be a fool.
[As]
the partridge sitteth on [eggs] it hath not laid, [so] is he that
getteth riches and not
by
right: in the midst of his days shall he leave them, and at his end
shall be a fool.
A
partridge hatching, and not bringing forth, [Is] one making wealth,
and not by
right,
In the midst of his days he doth forsake it, And in his latter end
-- he is a
fool.
Jeremiah 17 12
A
glorious throne, [set] on high from the beginning, is the place of
our sanctuary.
A
throne of glory, [set] on high from the beginning, is the place of
our sanctuary.
A
throne of honour on high from the beginning, The place of our
sanctuary,
Jeremiah 17 13
Yahweh,
the hope of Israel, all who forsake you shall be put to shame. Those
who depart from me shall
be written in the earth, because they have forsaken Yahweh, the
spring of living waters.
Thou
hope of Israel, Jehovah! all that forsake thee shall be ashamed.
They that depart from
me shall be written in the earth; because they have forsaken
Jehovah, the fountain of
living
waters.
The
hope of Israel [is] Jehovah, All forsaking Thee are ashamed, And `My
apostates`
in the earth are written, For they have forsaken Jehovah, A fountain
of living
waters.
Jeremiah 17 14
Heal
me, O Yahweh, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved:
for you are my praise.
Heal
me, Jehovah, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved:
for thou art my
praise.
Heal
me, O Jehovah, and I am healed, Save me, and I am saved, for my
praise [art]
Thou.
Jeremiah 17 15
Behold,
they tell me, Where is the word of Yahweh? let it come now.
Behold,
these say unto me, Where is the word of Jehovah? let it then come!
Lo,
they are saying unto me: `Where [is] the word of Jehovah? pray, let
it come.`
Jeremiah 17 16
As
for me, I have not hurried from being a shepherd after you; neither
have I desired the woeful day;
you know: that which came out of my lips was before your face.
But
as for me, I have not hastened from being a shepherd in following
thee, neither have I
desired the fatal day, thou knowest: that which came out of my lips
was before thy face.
And
I hastened not from feeding after Thee, And the desperate day I have
not
desired,
Thou -- Thou hast known, The produce of my lips, before Thy face it
hath
been,
Jeremiah 17 17
Don`t
be a terror to me: you are my refuge in the day of evil.
Be
not a terror unto me: thou art my refuge in the day of evil.
Be
not Thou to me for a terror, My hope [art] Thou in a day of evil.
Jeremiah 17 18
Let
them be put to shame who persecute me, but let not me be put to
shame; let them be
dismayed,
but don`t let me be dismayed; bring on them the day of evil, and
destroy them with double
destruction.
Let
them be ashamed that persecute me, but let not me be ashamed; let
them be
dismayed,
but let not me be dismayed; bring upon them the day of evil, and
break them
with
a double breaking.
Let
my pursuers be ashamed, and let not me be ashamed -- me! Let them be
affrighted,
and let not me be affrighted -- me! Bring in on them a day of evil,
And
a
second time [with] destruction destroy them.
Jeremiah 17 19
Thus
said Yahweh to me: Go, and stand in the gate of the children of the
people, whereby the kings
of Judah come in, and by which they go out, and in all the gates of
Jerusalem;
Thus
hath Jehovah said unto me: Go and stand in the gate of the children
of the people, by
which
the kings of Judah come in, and by which they go out, and in all the
gates of
Jerusalem;
Thus
said Jehovah unto me: `Go, and thou hast stood in the gate of the
sons of the
people,
by which kings of Judah come in, and by which they go out, and in
all
gates
of Jerusalem,
Jeremiah 17 20
and
tell them, Hear you the word of Yahweh, you kings of Judah, and all
Judah, and all the
inhabitants
of Jerusalem, that enter in by these gates:
and
say unto them, Hear the word of Jehovah, ye kings of Judah, and all
Judah, and all the
inhabitants
of Jerusalem, that enter in by these gates;
and
thou hast said unto them: Hear a word of Jehovah, ye kings of Judah,
and all
Judah,
and all inhabitants of Jerusalem, who are coming in by these gates,
Jeremiah 17 21
Thus
says Yahweh, Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the
Sabbath day, nor bring it in
by the gates of Jerusalem;
thus
saith Jehovah: Take heed to your souls, and bear no burden on the
sabbath day, and
bring
nothing in through the gates of Jerusalem;
Thus
said Jehovah, Take ye heed to yourselves, And ye bear not a burden
on the day
of rest, Nor have ye brought [it] in by the gates of Jerusalem.
Jeremiah 17 22
neither
carry forth a burden out of your houses on the Sabbath day holy,
neither do any work: but
make the Sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers.
and
carry forth no burden out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither
do any work;
but
hallow ye the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers,
Nor
do ye take out a burden from your houses on the day of rest, Yea,
any work ye
do
not do, And ye have sanctified the day of rest, As I have commanded
your
fathers.
Jeremiah 17 23
But
they didn`t listen, neither turn their ear, but made their neck
stiff, that they might not
hear,
and might not receive instruction.
but
they hearkened not, neither inclined their ear, but hardened their
neck, that they
might
not hear nor receive instruction.
And
they have not hearkened nor inclined their ear, And they stiffen
their neck
not
to hear, And not to receive instruction.
Jeremiah 17 24
It
shall happen, if you diligently listen to me, says Yahweh, to bring
in no burden through the gates
of this city on the Sabbath day, but to make the Sabbath day holy, to
do no work therein;
And
it shall come to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, saith
Jehovah, to bring in no
burden
through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, and to hallow the
sabbath day,
to
do no work therein;
And
it hath been, if ye certainly hearken unto Me, An affirmation of
Jehovah, So as
not to bring in a burden By the gates of this city on the day of
rest, And to
sanctify
the day of rest, So as not to do in it any work --
Jeremiah 17 25
then
shall there enter in by the gates of this city kings and princes
sitting on the throne of
David,
riding in chariots and on horses, they, and their princes, the men of
Judah, and the
inhabitants
of Jerusalem; and this city shall remain forever.
then
shall there enter in, through the gates of this city, kings and
princes sitting upon
the
throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their
princes, the men of
Judah
and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and this city shall be inhabited
for ever.
Then
entered by the gates of this city have kings and princes, Sitting on
the
throne
of David, Riding in a chariot, and on horses, They, and their
princes, the
man
of Judah, And inhabitants of Jerusalem, And this city hath remained
to the
age.
Jeremiah 17 26
They
shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places round about
Jerusalem, and from the
land of Benjamin, and from the lowland, and from the hill-country,
and from the South, bringing
burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meal-offerings, and
frankincense, and bringing [sacrifices
of] thanksgiving, to the house of Yahweh.
And
they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places around
Jerusalem, and
from
the land of Benjamin, and from the lowland, and from the
hill-country, and from the
south, bringing burnt-offerings, and sacrifices, and oblations, and
incense, and
bringing
thanksgiving unto the house of Jehovah.
And
they have come in from cities of Judah, And from suburbs of
Jerusalem, And
from
the land of Benjamin, And from the low country, And from the
hill-country,
and
from the south, Bringing in burnt-offering, and sacrifice, And
present, and
frankincense,
And bringing praise [to] the house of Jehovah.
Jeremiah 17 27
But
if you will not listen to me to make the Sabbath day holy, and not to
bear a burden and enter in at the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day; then will I kindle a
fire in the gates of it, and it shall
devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.
But
if ye will not hearken unto me, to hallow the sabbath day and not to
bear a burden
and
enter in through the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day, then
will I kindle a fire
in
the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem,
and it shall not be
quenched.
And
if ye do not hearken unto me to sanctify the day of rest, And so as
not to bear a
burden, And to come in at the gates of Jerusalem on the day of rest,
Then I have
kindled
a fire in its gates, And it hath consumed the high places of
Jerusalem,
And
it is not quenched!`

Heb 2:8 You have put
all things in subjection under his feet." For in that he
subjected all things to him, he left nothing that is not subject to
him. But now we don't see all things subjected to him, yet.
Heb 2:9 But we see him
who has been made a little lower than the angels, Jesus, because of
the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the
grace of God he should taste of death for everyone.

Heb 2:15 and might
deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime
subject to bondage.
Heb 2:16 For most
certainly, he doesn't give help to angels, but he gives help to the
seed of Abraham.
Heb 2:17 Therefore he

Heb 2:18 For in that he
himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help those who are

a effort to understand the Bible by considering it from different
perspectives and different levels of literalcy. First, read the

for comprehension of the text. Next, read both the World English

make comparisons and lastly, read all three versions (Young's is the

at one time to obtain an overview of the text. Doing this will make
you think about what
the

manner.
Hebrews
Hebrews 2 1
Therefore
we ought to pay greater attention to the things that were heard, lest
perhaps we drift away.
For
this reason we should give heed more abundantly to the things [we
have] heard, lest
in
any way we should slip away.
Because
of this it behoveth [us] more abundantly to take heed to the things
heard,
lest we may glide aside,
Hebrews 2 2
For
if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every
transgression and
disobedience
received a just recompense;
For
if the word which was spoken by angels was firm, and every
transgression and
disobedience
received just retribution,
for
if the word being spoken through messengers did become stedfast, and
every
transgression
and disobedience did receive a just recompense,
Hebrews 2 3
how
will we escape, if we neglect so great a salvation -- which at the
first having been spoken through
the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard;
how
shall *we* escape if we have been negligent of so great salvation,
which, having had
its
commencement in being spoken [of] by the Lord, has been confirmed to
us by those
who
have heard;
how
shall we escape, having neglected so great salvation? which a
beginning
receiving
-- to be spoken through the Lord -- by those having heard was
confirmed
to us,
Hebrews 2 4
God
also bearing witness with them, both by signs and wonders, and by
various works of power, and
by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?
God
bearing, besides, witness with [them] to [it], both by signs and
wonders, and various
acts
of power, and distributions of [the] Holy Spirit, according to his
will?
God
also bearing joint-witness both with signs and wonders, and manifold
powers,
and distributions of the Holy Spirit, according to His will.
Hebrews 2 5
For
he didn`t subject the world to come, whereof we speak, to angels.
For
he has not subjected to angels the habitable world which is to come,
of which we
speak;
For
not to messengers did He subject the coming world, concerning which
we
speak,
Hebrews 2 6
But
one has somewhere testified, saying, "What is man, that you
think of him? Or the son of man, that you care for him?
but
one has testified somewhere, saying, What is man, that thou
rememberest him, or son
of man that thou visitest him?
and
one in a certain place did testify fully, saying, `What is man, that
Thou art
mindful
of him, or a son of man, that Thou dost look after him?
Hebrews 2 7
You
made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory
and honor.
Thou
hast made him some little inferior to the angels; thou hast crowned
him with glory
and
honour, [and hast set him over the works of thy hands;]
Thou
didst make him some little less than messengers, with glory and
honour
Thou
didst crown him, and didst set him over the works of Thy hands,
Hebrews 2 8
You
have put all things in subjection under his feet." For in
that he subjected all things to
him,
he left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we don`t see all
things subjected to him,
thou
hast subjected all things under his feet. For in subjecting all
things to him, he has
left
nothing unsubject to him. But now we see not yet all things
subjected to *him*,
all
things Thou didst put in subjection under his feet,` for in the
subjecting to
him
the all things, nothing did He leave to him unsubjected, and now not
yet do
we
see the all things subjected to him,
Hebrews 2 9
But
we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, Jesus,
because of the suffering of
death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he
should taste of death for everyone.
but
we see Jesus, who [was] made some little inferior to angels on
account of the suffering
of death, crowned with glory and honour; so that by the grace of God
he should taste
death
for every thing.
and
him who was made some little less than messengers we see -- Jesus --
because
of
the suffering of the death, with glory and honour having been
crowned, that by
the
grace of God for every one he might taste of death.
Hebrews 2 10
For
it became him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all
things, in bringing many sons
to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through
sufferings.
For
it became him, for whom [are] all things, and by whom [are] all
things, in bringing
many
sons to glory, to make perfect the leader of their salvation through
sufferings.
For
it was becoming to Him, because of whom [are] the all things, and
through
whom
[are] the all things, many sons to glory bringing, the author of
their
salvation
through sufferings to make perfect,
Hebrews 2 11

which cause he is not

for
both he who is sanctifying and those sanctified [are] all of one,
for which cause
he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
Hebrews 2 12
saying,
"I will declare your name to my brothers, In the midst of the
congregation will I sing your
praise."
saying,
I will declare thy name to my brethren; in [the] midst of [the]
assembly will I sing
thy praises.
saying,
`I will declare Thy name to my brethren, in the midst of an assembly
I will
sing
praise to Thee;` and again, `I will be trusting on Him;`
Hebrews 2 13
Again,
"I will put my trust in him." Again, "Behold, here am
I and the children whom God has given
me."
And
again, I will trust in him. And again, Behold, I and the children
which God has given
me.
and
again, `Behold I and the children that God did give to me.`
Hebrews 2 14
Since
then the children have shared in flesh and blood, he also himself in
like manner partook of the same, that through death he might bring to nothing him who had
the power of death, that is,
the devil,
Since
therefore the children partake of blood and flesh, he also, in like
manner, took part
in the same, that through death he might annul him who has the might
of death, that is,
the
devil;
Seeing,
then, the children have partaken of flesh and blood, he himself also
in like
manner did take part of the same, that through death he might
destroy him
having
the power of death -- that is, the devil --
Hebrews 2 15
and
might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their
lifetime subject to
bondage.
and
might set free all those who through fear of death through the whole
of their life
were
subject to bondage.
and
might deliver those, whoever, with fear of death, throughout all
their life,
were
subjects of bondage,
Hebrews 2 16
For
most assuredly, not to angels does he give help, but he gives help to
the seed of Abraham.
For
he does not indeed take hold of angels [by the hand], but he takes
hold of the seed of
Abraham.
for,
doubtless, of messengers it doth not lay hold, but of seed of
Abraham it layeth
hold,
Hebrews 2 17
Therefore
he was obligated in all things to be made like his brothers, that he

people.
Wherefore
it behoved him in all things to be made like to [his] brethren, that
he might
be
a merciful and faithful high priest in things relating to God, to
make propitiation for
the sins of the people;
wherefore
it did behove him in all things to be made like to the brethren,
that he
might
become a kind and stedfast chief-priest in the things with God, to
make
propitiation
for the sins of the people,
Hebrews 2 18
For
in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help
those who are tempted.
for,
in that himself has suffered, being tempted, he is able to help
those that are being
tempted.
for
in that he suffered, himself being tempted, he is able to help those
who are
tempted.
