OPTIMISM

Bible Reading:  Rom 8:28

Song:  Nearer my God to thee

I. Introduction

A. This country was built on optimism; the examples 

     are numerous!!

B. The essence of optimism: insight with confidence. 

    (FAITH)

C. The application of optimism : action.

D. The example of optimism: Caleb.

E. The life of Caleb summarizes optimism !

II. Body

A. His optimism is seen in his view of the promised 

     land. Nu 13:1-33

1. The reality of it.. WOW !!!

2. The reality of the obstacles: 

     Anankin, Hittives, Amorites, Jebusites.

3. The reason for the positive recommendation: GOD !!

B. His optimism led to faithfulness, so he could 

    enter the promised land. Josh 14:6-15

1. Caleb made it here; many, many didn't even come 

    close. Matt 7:21

2. Caleb was no worse the wear for being faithful all 

    those years,

3. Caleb was still optimistic; chose the hardest portion 

    to conquer.

C. His optimism led to success. Josh 15: 13-16

1. His optimism ignored fear.

2. His optimism did something.

3. His optimism was contagious. vs 16

D. His optimism has lessons for us.

1. Trusting God has its rewards.

2. Trusting God fully is faithfulness.

3. Trusting God enough to take on the BIG tasks.

III. Conclusion

A. Caleb's optimism is an example of the kind of FAITH 

     we must have.

B. Caleb's optimism overcame pride -- 

    He overcame the sidekick role.

C. Caleb's optimism should be our optimism!
