Proverbs 27-29

Pro 27:1 Don't boast about tomorrow; for you don't know what a day may bring forth.

Pro 27:2 Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips.

Pro 27:3 A stone is heavy, and sand is a burden; but a fool's provocation is heavier than both.

Pro 27:4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is overwhelming; but who is able to stand before jealousy?

Pro 27:5 Better is open rebuke than hidden love.

Pro 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; although the kisses of an enemy are profuse.

Pro 27:7 A full soul loathes a honeycomb; but to a hungry soul, every bitter thing is sweet.

Pro 27:8 As a bird that wanders from her nest, so is a man who wanders from his home.

Pro 27:9 Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart; so does earnest counsel from a man's friend.

Pro 27:10 Don't forsake your friend and your father's friend. Don't go to your brother's house in the day of your disaster: better is a neighbor who is near than a distant brother.

Pro 27:11 Be wise, my son, and bring joy to my heart, then I can answer my tormentor.

Pro 27:12 A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.

Pro 27:13 Take his garment when he puts up collateral for a stranger. Hold it for a wayward woman!

Pro 27:14 He who blesses his neighbor with a loud voice early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse by him.

Pro 27:15 A continual dropping on a rainy day and a contentious wife are alike:

Pro 27:16 restraining her is like restraining the wind, or like grasping oil in his right hand.

Pro 27:17 Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend's countenance.

Pro 27:18 Whoever tends the fig tree shall eat its fruit. He who looks after his master shall be honored.

Pro 27:19 As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man.

Pro 27:20 Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied; and a man's eyes are never satisfied.

Pro 27:21 The crucible is for silver, and the furnace for gold; but man is refined by his praise.

Pro 27:22 Though you grind a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with grain, yet his foolishness will not be removed from him.

Pro 27:23 Know well the state of your flocks, and pay attention to your herds:

Pro 27:24 for riches are not forever, nor does even the crown endure to all generations.

Pro 27:25 The hay is removed, and the new growth appears, the grasses of the hills are gathered in.

Pro 27:26 The lambs are for your clothing, and the goats are the price of a field.

Pro 27:27 There will be plenty of goats' milk for your food, for your family's food, and for the nourishment of your servant girls.

Pro 28:1 The wicked flee when no one pursues; but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

Pro 28:2 In rebellion, a land has many rulers, but order is maintained by a man of understanding and knowledge.

Pro 28:3 A needy man who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain which leaves no crops.

Pro 28:4 Those who forsake the law praise the wicked; but those who keep the law contend with them.

Pro 28:5 Evil men don't understand justice; but those who seek Yahweh understand it fully.

Pro 28:6 Better is the poor who walks in his integrity, than he who is perverse in his ways, and he is rich.

Pro 28:7 Whoever keeps the law is a wise son; but he who is a companion of gluttons shames his father.

Pro 28:8 He who increases his wealth by excessive interest gathers it for one who has pity on the poor.

Pro 28:9 He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

Pro 28:10 Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, he will fall into his own trap; but the blameless will inherit good.

Pro 28:11 The rich man is wise in his own eyes; but the poor who has understanding sees through him.

Pro 28:12 When the righteous triumph, there is great glory; but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.

Pro 28:13 He who conceals his sins doesn't prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Pro 28:14 Blessed is the man who always fears; but one who hardens his heart falls into trouble.

Pro 28:15 As a roaring lion or a charging bear, so is a wicked ruler over helpless people.

Pro 28:16 A tyrannical ruler lacks judgment. One who hates ill-gotten gain will have long days.

Pro 28:17 A man who is tormented by life blood will be a fugitive until death; no one will support him.

Pro 28:18 Whoever walks blamelessly is kept safe; but one with perverse ways will fall suddenly.

Pro 28:19 One who works his land will have an abundance of food; but one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.

Pro 28:20 A faithful man is rich with blessings; but one who is eager to be rich will not go unpunished.

Pro 28:21 To show partiality is not good; yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.

Pro 28:22 A stingy man hurries after riches, and doesn't know that poverty waits for him.

Pro 28:23 One who rebukes a man will afterward find more favor than one who flatters with the tongue.

Pro 28:24 Whoever robs his father or his mother, and says, "It's not wrong." He is a partner with a destroyer.

Pro 28:25 One who is greedy stirs up strife; but one who trusts in Yahweh will prosper.

Pro 28:26 One who trusts in himself is a fool; but one who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

Pro 28:27 One who gives to the poor has no lack; but one who closes his eyes will have many curses.

Pro 28:28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous thrive.

Pro 29:1 He who is often rebuked and stiffens his neck will be destroyed suddenly, with no remedy.

Pro 29:2 When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.

Pro 29:3 Whoever loves wisdom brings joy to his father; but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.

Pro 29:4 The king by justice makes the land stable, but he who takes bribes tears it down.

Pro 29:5 A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.

Pro 29:6 An evil man is snared by his sin, but the righteous can sing and be glad.

Pro 29:7 The righteous care about justice for the poor. The wicked aren't concerned about knowledge.

Pro 29:8 Mockers stir up a city, but wise men turn away anger.

Pro 29:9 If a wise man goes to court with a foolish man, the fool rages or scoffs, and there is no peace.

Pro 29:10 The bloodthirsty hate a man of integrity; and they seek the life of the upright.

Pro 29:11 A fool vents all of his anger, but a wise man brings himself under control.

Pro 29:12 If a ruler listens to lies, all of his officials are wicked.

Pro 29:13 The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: Yahweh gives sight to the eyes of both.

Pro 29:14 The king who fairly judges the poor, his throne shall be established forever.

Pro 29:15 The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a child left to himself causes shame to his mother.

Pro 29:16 When the wicked increase, sin increases; but the righteous will see their downfall.

Pro 29:17 Correct your son, and he will give you peace; yes, he will bring delight to your soul.

Pro 29:18 Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed.

Pro 29:19 A servant can't be corrected by words. Though he understands, yet he will not respond.

Pro 29:20 Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Pro 29:21 He who pampers his servant from youth will have him become a son in the end.

Pro 29:22 An angry man stirs up strife, and a wrathful man abounds in sin.

Pro 29:23 A man's pride brings him low, but one of lowly spirit gains honor.

Pro 29:24 Whoever is an accomplice of a thief is an enemy of his own soul. He takes an oath, but dares not testify.

Pro 29:25 The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe.

Pro 29:26 Many seek the ruler's favor, but a man's justice comes from Yahweh.

Pro 29:27 A dishonest man detests the righteous, and the upright in their ways detest the wicked.

Proverbs 27 2

Proverbs 27 3

A stone is heavy, And sand is a burden; But a fool`s provocation is heavier than both.

A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool`s vexation is heavier than them both.

Proverbs 27 9

Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart; So does earnest counsel from a man`s friend.

Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart; and the sweetness of one`s friend is [the fruit]

of hearty counsel.

Proverbs 27 10

Don`t forsake your friend and your father`s friend. Don`t go to your brother`s house in the  day of your disaster: Better is a neighbor who is near than a distant brother.

Thine own friend, and thy father`s friend, forsake not; and go not into thy brother`s

house in the day of thy calamity: better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.

Thine own friend, and the friend of thy father, forsake not, And the house of thy

brother enter not In a day of thy calamity, Better [is] a near neighbour than a brother afar off.

Proverbs 27 11

Be wise, my son, And bring joy to my heart, Then I can answer my tormentor.

Be wise, my son, and make my heart glad, that I may have wherewith to answer him that

reproacheth me.

Be wise, my son, and rejoice my heart. And I return my reproacher a word.

Proverbs 27 12

A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge; But the simple pass on, and suffer for it:

A prudent [man] seeth the evil, [and] hideth himself; the simple pass on, [and] are punished.

The prudent hath seen the evil, he is hidden, The simple have passed on, they are punished.

Proverbs 27 13

Take his garment when he puts up collateral for a stranger; Hold it for a wayward woman!

Take his garment that is become surety [for] another, and hold him in pledge for a strange woman.

Take his garment, when a stranger hath been surety, And for a strange woman pledge it.

Proverbs 27 14

He who blesses his neighbor with a loud voice early in the morning, It will be taken as a

curse by him.

He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be

reckoned a curse to him.

Whoso is saluting his friend with a loud voice, In the morning rising early, A

light thing it is reckoned to him.

Proverbs 27 15

A continual dropping on a rainy day And a contentious wife are alike:

A continual dropping on a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike:

A continual dropping in a day of rain, And a woman of contentions are alike,

Proverbs 27 16

Restraining her is like restraining the wind, Or like grasping oil in his right hand.

whosoever will restrain her restraineth the wind, and his right hand encountereth oil.

Whoso is hiding her hath hidden the wind, And the ointment of his right hand

calleth out.

Proverbs 27 17

Iron sharpens iron; So a man sharpens his friend`s countenance.

Iron is sharpened by iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

Iron by iron is sharpened, And a man sharpens the face of his friend.

Proverbs 27 18

Whoever tends the fig tree shall eat its fruit. He who looks after his master shall be  honored.

Whoso keepeth the fig-tree shall eat the fruit thereof; and he that guardeth his master

shall be honoured.

The keeper of a fig-tree eateth its fruit, And the preserver of his master is honoured.

Proverbs 27 19

As [in] water face [answereth] to face, so the heart of man to man.

As [in] water the face [is] to face, So the heart of man to man.

Proverbs 27 20

Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied; And a man`s eyes are never satisfied.

Sheol and destruction are insatiable; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.

Sheol and destruction are not satisfied, And the eyes of man are not satisfied.

Proverbs 27 21

The crucible is for silver, And the furnace for gold; But man is refined by his praise.

The fining-pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold; so let a man be to the mouth that

praiseth him.

A refining pot [is] for silver, and a furnace for gold, And a man according to his praise.

Proverbs 27 22

Though you grind a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with grain, Yet his foolishness will

not be removed from him.

If thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his folly

depart from him.

If thou dost beat the foolish in a mortar, Among washed things -- with a pestle, His

folly turneth not aside from off him.

Proverbs 27 23

Know well the state of your flocks, And pay attention to your herds:

Be well acquainted with the appearance of thy flocks; look well to thy herds:

Know well the face of thy flock, Set thy heart to the droves,

Proverbs 27 24

For riches are not forever, Nor does even the crown endure to all generations.

for wealth is not for ever; and doth the crown [endure] from generation to generation?

For riches [are] not to the age, Nor a crown to generation and generation.

Proverbs 27 25

The hay is removed, and the new growth appears, The grasses of the hills are gathered in.

The hay is removed, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are

gathered in.

Revealed was the hay, and seen the tender grass, And gathered the herbs of mountains.

Proverbs 27 26

The lambs are for your clothing, And the goats are the price of a field.

The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of a field;

Lambs [are] for thy clothing, And the price of the field [are] he-goats,

Proverbs 27 27

There will be plenty of goats` milk for your food, For your family`s food, And for the

nourishment of your servant girls.

and there is goats` milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and sustenance

for thy maidens.

And a sufficiency of goats` milk [is] for thy bread, For bread to thy house, and life to thy damsels!

Proverbs 28 1

The wicked flee when no one pursues; But the righteous are as bold as a lion.

The wicked flee when no man pursueth; but the righteous are bold as a lion.

The wicked have fled and there is no pursuer. And the righteous as a young lion is

confident.

Proverbs 28 2

In rebellion, a land has many rulers, But order is maintained by a man of understanding and knowledge.

By the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof; but by a man of

understanding [and] of knowledge, [its] stability is prolonged.

By the transgression of a land many [are] its heads. And by an intelligent man,

Who knoweth right -- it is prolonged.

Proverbs 28 3

A needy man who oppresses the poor Is like a driving rain which leaves no crops.

A poor man who oppresseth the helpless is a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.

A man -- poor and oppressing the weak, [Is] a sweeping rain, and there is no bread.

Proverbs 28 4

Those who forsake the law praise the wicked; But those who keep the law contend with them.

They that forsake the law praise the wicked; but such as keep the law contend with them.

Those forsaking the law praise the wicked, Those keeping the law plead against them.

Proverbs 28 5

Evil men don`t understand justice; But those who seek Yahweh understand it fully.

Evil men understand not judgment; but they that seek Jehovah understand everything.

Evil men understand not judgment, And those seeking Jehovah understand all.

Proverbs 28 6

Better is the poor who walks in his integrity, Than he who is perverse in his ways, and he is

rich.

Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse, double in ways,

though he be rich.

Better [is] the poor walking in his integrity, Than the perverse of ways who is rich.

Proverbs 28 7

Whoever keeps the law is a wise son; But he who is a companion of gluttons shames his father.

Whoso observeth the law is a son that hath understanding; but he that is a companion of

profligates bringeth shame to his father.

Whoso is keeping the law is an intelligent son, And a friend of gluttons, Doth

cause his father to blush.

Proverbs 28 8

He who increases his wealth by excessive interest Gathers it for one who has pity on the poor.

He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance gathereth it for him that is

gracious to the poor.

Whoso is multiplying his wealth by biting and usury, For one favouring the poor

doth gather it.

Proverbs 28 9

He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination.

He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

Whoso is turning his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer [is] an  

abomination.

Proverbs 28 10

Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, He will fall into his own trap; But the blameless will inherit good.

Whoso causeth the upright to go astray in an evil way, shall himself fall into his own pit;

but the perfect shall inherit good.

Whoso is causing the upright to err in an evil way, Into his own pit he doth fall,

And the perfect do inherit good.

Proverbs 28 11

The rich man is wise in his own eyes; But the poor who has understanding sees through  him.

A rich man is wise in his own eyes; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him

out.

A rich man is wise in his own eyes, And the intelligent poor searcheth him.

Proverbs 28 12

When the righteous triumph, there is great glory; But when the wicked rise, men hide

themselves.

When the righteous triumph, there is great glory; but when the wicked rise, men

conceal themselves.

In the exulting of the righteous the glory [is] abundant, And in the rising of the

wicked man is apprehensive.

Proverbs 28 13

He who conceals his sins doesn`t prosper, But whoever confesses and renounces them finds

mercy.

He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh

[them] shall obtain mercy.

Whoso is covering his transgressions prospereth not, And he who is confessing

and forsaking hath mercy.

Proverbs 28 14

Blessed is the man who always fears; But one who hardens his heart falls into trouble.

Happy is the man that feareth always; but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into evil.

O the happiness of a man fearing continually, And whoso is hardening his heart

falleth into evil.

Proverbs 28 15

As a roaring lion or a charging bear, So is a wicked ruler over helpless people.

A roaring lion, and a ranging bear, is a wicked ruler over a poor people.

A growling lion, and a ranging bear, [Is] the wicked ruler over a poor people.

Proverbs 28 16

The ruler who lacks judgment is a great tyrant. One who hates ill-gotten gain will have long

days.

The prince void of intelligence is also a great oppressor: he that hateth covetousness

shall prolong [his] days.

A leader lacking understanding multiplieth oppressions, Whoso is hating dishonest gain prolongeth days.

Proverbs 28 17

A man who is tormented by life blood will be a fugitive until death; No one will support

A man laden with the blood of [any] person, fleeth to the pit: let no man stay him.

A man oppressed with the blood of a soul, Unto the pit fleeth, none taketh hold on him.

Proverbs 28 18

Whoever walks blamelessly is kept safe; But one with perverse ways will fall suddenly.

Whoso walketh in integrity shall be saved; but he that is perverted in [his] double ways,

shall fall in one [of them].

Whoso is walking uprightly is saved, And the perverted of ways falleth at once.

Proverbs 28 19

One who works his land will have an abundance of food; But one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.

He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread; but he that followeth the worthless

shall have poverty enough.

Whoso is tilling his ground is satisfied [with] bread, And whoso is pursuing

vanity, Is filled [with] poverty.

Proverbs 28 20

A faithful man is rich with blessings; But one who is eager to be rich will not go unpunished.

A faithful man aboundeth with blessings; but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be

innocent.

A stedfast man hath multiplied blessings, And whoso is hasting to be rich is not

acquitted.

Proverbs 28 21

To show partiality is not good; Yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.

To have respect of persons is not good; but for a piece of bread will a man transgress.

To discern faces is not good, And for a piece of bread doth a man transgress.

Proverbs 28 22

A stingy man hurries after riches, And doesn`t know that poverty waits for him.

He that hath an evil eye hasteth after wealth, and knoweth not that poverty shall come

upon him.

Troubled for wealth [is] the man [with] an evil eye, And he knoweth not that want

doth meet him.

Proverbs 28 23

One who rebukes a man will afterward find more favor Than one who flatters with the tongue.

He that rebuketh a man shall afterwards find more favour than he that flattereth with

the tongue.

Whoso is reproving a man afterwards findeth grace, More than a flatterer with

the tongue.

Proverbs 28 24

Whoever robs his father or his mother, and says, "It`s not wrong." He is a partner with a

destroyer.

Whoso robbeth his father and his mother, and saith, It is no transgression, the same is

the companion of a destroyer.

Whoso is robbing his father, or his mother, And is saying, `It is not

transgression,` A companion he is to a destroyer.

Proverbs 28 25

One who is greedy stirs up strife; But one who trusts in Yahweh will prosper.

He that is puffed up in soul exciteth contention; but he that relieth upon Jehovah shall be

made fat.

Whoso is proud in soul stirreth up contention, And whoso is trusting on Jehovah

is made fat.

Proverbs 28 26

One who trusts in himself is a fool; But one who walks in wisdom, he is kept safe.

He that confideth in his own heart is a fool; but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be

delivered.

Whoso is trusting in his heart is a fool, And whoso is walking in wisdom is

delivered.

Proverbs 28 27

One who gives to the poor has no lack; But one who closes his eyes will have many curses.

He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack; but he that withdraweth his eyes shall have

many a curse.

Whoso is giving to the poor hath no lack, And whoso is hiding his eyes multiplied

curses.

Proverbs 28 28

When the wicked rise, men hide themselves; But when they perish, the righteous thrive.

When the wicked rise, men hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous

In the rising of the wicked a man is hidden, And in their destruction the

righteous multiply!

Proverbs 29 1

He who is often rebuked and stiffens his neck Will be destroyed suddenly, with no remedy.

He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and

without remedy.

A man often reproved, hardening the neck, Is suddenly broken, and there is no healing.

Proverbs 29 2

When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; But when the wicked rule, the people groan.

When the righteous increase, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the

people mourn.

In the multiplying of the righteous the people rejoice, And in the ruling of the

wicked the people sigh.

Proverbs 29 3

Whoever loves wisdom brings joy to his father; But a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.

Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; but he that is a companion of harlots

destroyeth [his] substance.

A man loving wisdom rejoiceth his father, And a friend of harlots destroyeth wealth.

Proverbs 29 4

The king by justice makes the land stable, But he who takes bribes tears it down.

A king by just judgment establisheth the land; but he that taketh gifts overthroweth it.

A king by judgment establisheth a land, And one receiving gifts throweth it

Proverbs 29 5

A man who flatters his neighbor, Spreads a net for his feet.

A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his steps.

A man taking a portion above his neighbour, Spreadeth a net for his own steps.

Proverbs 29 6

An evil man is snared by his sin, But the righteous can sing and be glad.

In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; but the righteous shall sing and

rejoice.

In the transgression of the evil [is] a snare, And the righteous doth sing and

rejoice.

Proverbs 29 7

The righteous care about justice for the poor. The wicked aren`t concerned about knowledge.

The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor; the wicked understandeth not

knowledge.

The righteous knoweth the plea of the poor, The wicked understandeth not

knowledge.

Proverbs 29 8

Mockers stir up a city, But wise men turn away anger.

Scornful men set the city in a flame; but the wise turn away anger.

If a wise man goes to court with a foolish man, The fool rages or scoffs, and there is no peace.
