Jeremiah
10-13
Jer
10:1 Hear the word which Yahweh speaks to you, house of Israel!
Jer
10:2 Thus says Yahweh, "Don't learn the way of the nations, and
don't be dismayed at the signs of the sky; for the nations are
dismayed at them.
Jer
10:3 For the customs of the peoples are vanity; for one cuts a tree
out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman with the axe.
Jer
10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with
nails and with hammers, that it not move.
Jer
10:5 They are like a palm tree, of turned work, and don't speak:
they must be carried, because they can't go. Don't be afraid of them;
for they can't do evil, neither is it in them to do good."
Jer
10:6 There is none like you, Yahweh; you are great, and your name is
great in might.
Jer
10:7 Who should not fear you, King of the nations? for to you does
it appertain; because among all the wise men of the nations, and in
all their royal estate, there is none like you.
Jer
10:8 But they are together brutish and foolish: the instruction of
idols! it is but a stock.
Jer
10:9 There is silver beaten into plates, which is brought from
Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the artificer and of the
hands of the goldsmith; blue and purple for their clothing; they are
all the work of skillful men.
Jer
10:10 But Yahweh is the true God; he is the living God, and an
everlasting King: at his wrath the earth trembles, and the nations
are not able to abide his indignation.
Jer
10:11 You shall say this to them: The gods that have not made the
heavens and the earth, these shall perish from the earth, and from
under the heavens.
Jer
10:12 He has made the earth by his power, he has established the
world by his wisdom, and by his understanding has he stretched out
the heavens:
Jer
10:13 when he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the
heavens, and he causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the
earth; he makes lightnings for the rain, and brings forth the wind
out of his treasuries.
Jer
10:14 Every man is become brutish and
is without knowledge; every goldsmith is
disappointed by his engraved image; for his molten image is
falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
Jer
10:15 They are vanity, a work of delusion: in the time of their
visitation they shall perish.
Jer
10:16 The portion of Jacob is not like these; for he is the former
of all things; and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance: Yahweh of
Armies is his name.
Jer
10:17 Gather up your wares out of the land, you who abide in the
siege.
Jer
10:18 For thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants
of the land at this time, and will distress them, that they may feel
it.
Jer
10:19 Woe is me because of my hurt! my wound is grievous: but I
said, Truly this is my
grief, and I must bear it.
Jer
10:20 My tent is destroyed, and all my cords are broken: my children
are gone forth from me, and they are no more: there is none to spread
my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
Jer
10:21 For the shepherds are become brutish, and have not inquired of
Yahweh: therefore they have not prospered, and all their flocks are
scattered.
Jer
10:22 The voice of news, behold, it comes, and a great commotion out
of the north country, to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a
dwelling place of jackals.
Jer
10:23 Yahweh, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is
not in man who walks to direct his steps.
Jer
10:24 Yahweh, correct me, but in measure: not in your anger, lest
you bring me to nothing.
Jer
10:25 Pour out your wrath on the nations that don't know you, and on
the families that don't call on your name: for they have devoured
Jacob, yes, they have devoured him and consumed him, and have laid
waste his habitation.
Jer
11:1 The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,
Jer
11:2 Hear you the words of this covenant, and speak to the men of
Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
Jer
11:3 and say you to them, Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel:
Cursed be the man who doesn't hear the words of this covenant,
Jer
11:4 which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them
forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying, Obey
my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so you
shall be my people, and I will be your God;
Jer
11:5 that I may establish the oath which I swore to your fathers, to
give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as at this day. Then
answered I, and said, Amen, Yahweh.
Jer
11:6 Yahweh said to me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of
Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear you the words of
this covenant, and do them.
Jer
11:7 For I earnestly protested to your fathers in the day that I
brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even to this day, rising
early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.
Jer
11:8 Yet they didn't obey, nor turn their ear, but walked everyone
in the stubbornness of their evil heart: therefore I brought on them
all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but
they didn't do them.
Jer
11:9 Yahweh said to me, A conspiracy is found among the men of
Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Jer
11:10 They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers,
who refused to hear my words; and they are gone after other gods to
serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my
covenant which I made with their fathers.
Jer
11:11 Therefore thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will bring evil on them,
which they shall not be able to escape; and they shall cry to me, but
I will not listen to them.
Jer
11:12 Then shall the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of
Jerusalem go and cry to the gods to which they offer incense: but
they will not save them at all in the time of their trouble.
Jer
11:13 For according to the number of your cities are your gods,
Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have
you set up altars to the shameful thing, even altars to burn incense
to Baal.
Jer
11:14 Therefore don't you pray for this people, neither lift up cry
nor prayer for them; for I will not hear them in the time that they
cry to me because of their trouble.
Jer
11:15 What has my beloved to do in my house, seeing she has worked
lewdness with
many, and the holy flesh is passed from you? when you do evil, then
you rejoice.
Jer
11:16 Yahweh called your name, A green olive tree, beautiful with
goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he has kindled fire on
it, and its branches are broken.
Jer
11:17 For Yahweh of Armies, who planted you, has pronounced evil
against you, because of the evil of the house of Israel and of the
house of Judah, which they have worked for themselves in provoking me
to anger by offering incense to Baal.
Jer
11:18 Yahweh gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it: then you showed
me their doings.
Jer
11:19 But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter; and
I didn't know that they had devised devices against me, saying,
Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from
the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.
Jer
11:20 But, Yahweh of Armies, who judges righteously, who tests the
heart and the mind, I shall see your vengeance on them; for to you
have I revealed my cause.
Jer
11:21 Therefore thus says Yahweh concerning the men of Anathoth, who
seek your life, saying, You shall not prophesy in the name of Yahweh,
that you not die by our hand;
Jer
11:22 therefore thus says Yahweh of Armies, Behold, I will punish
them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their
daughters shall die by famine;
Jer
11:23 and there shall be no remnant to them: for I will bring evil
on the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.
Jer
12:1 Righteous are you, Yahweh, when I contend with you; yet would I
reason the cause with you: why does the way of the wicked prosper?
why are all they at ease who deal very treacherously?
Jer
12:2 You have planted them, yes, they have taken root; they grow,
yes, they bring forth fruit: you are near in their mouth, and far
from their heart.
Jer
12:3 But you, Yahweh, know me; you see me, and try my heart toward
you: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for
the day of slaughter.
Jer
12:4 How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of the whole
country wither? for the wickedness of those who dwell therein, the
animals are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not
see our latter end.
Jer
12:5 If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you,
then how can you contend with horses? and though in a land of peace
you are secure, yet how will you do in the pride of the Jordan?
Jer
12:6 For even your brothers, and the house of your father, even they
have dealt treacherously with you; even they have cried aloud after
you: don't believe them, though they speak beautiful words to you.
Jer
12:7 I have forsaken my house, I have cast off my heritage; I have
given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.
Jer
12:8 My heritage is become to me as a lion in the forest: she has
uttered her voice against me; therefore I have hated her.
Jer
12:9 Is my heritage to me as a speckled bird of prey? are the birds
of prey against her all around? go you, assemble all the animals of
the field, bring them to devour.
Jer
12:10 Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden
my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate
wilderness.
Jer
12:11 They have made it a desolation; it mourns to me, being
desolate; the whole land is made desolate, because no man lays it to
heart.
Jer
12:12 Destroyers are come on all the bare heights in the wilderness;
for the sword of Yahweh devours from the one end of the land even to
the other end of the land: no flesh has peace.
Jer
12:13 They have sown wheat, and have reaped thorns; they have put
themselves to pain, and profit nothing: and you shall be ashamed of
your fruits, because of the fierce anger of Yahweh.
Jer
12:14 Thus says Yahweh against all my evil neighbors, who touch the
inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit: behold,
I will pluck them up from off their land, and will pluck up the house
of Judah from among them.
Jer
12:15 It shall happen, after that I have plucked them up, I will
return and have compassion on them; and I will bring them again,
every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.
Jer
12:16 It shall happen, if they will diligently learn the ways of my
people, to swear by my name, As Yahweh lives; even as they taught my
people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built up in the midst of
my people.
Jer
12:17 But if they will not hear, then will I pluck up that nation,
plucking up and destroying it, says Yahweh.
Jer
13:1 Thus says Yahweh to me, Go, and buy you a linen belt, and put
it on your waist, and don't put it in water.
Jer
13:2 So I bought a belt according to the word of Yahweh, and put it
on my waist.
Jer
13:3 The word of Yahweh came to me the second time, saying,
Jer
13:4 Take the belt that you have bought, which is on your waist, and
arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.
Jer
13:5 So I went, and hid it by the Euphrates, as Yahweh commanded me.
Jer
13:6 It happened after many days, that Yahweh said to me, Arise, go
to the Euphrates, and take the belt from there, which I commanded you
to hide there.
Jer
13:7 Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and took the belt from
the place where I had hid it; and behold, the belt was marred, it was
profitable for nothing.
Jer
13:8 Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
Jer
13:9 Thus says Yahweh, After this manner will I mar the pride of
Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.
Jer
13:10 This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the
stubbornness of their heart, and are gone after other gods to serve
them, and to worship them, shall even be as this belt, which is
profitable for nothing.
Jer
13:11 For as the belt cleaves to the waist of a man, so have I
caused to cleave to me the whole house of Israel and the whole house
of Judah, says Yahweh; that they may be to me for a people, and for a
name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.
Jer
13:12 Therefore you shall speak to them this word: Thus says Yahweh,
the God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they
shall tell you, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be
filled with wine?
Jer
13:13 Then you shall tell them, Thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will
fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings who sit on
David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the
inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.
Jer
13:14 I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the
sons together, says Yahweh: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have
compassion, that I should not destroy them.
Jer
13:15 Hear you, and give ear; don't be proud; for Yahweh has spoken.
Jer
13:16 Give glory to Yahweh your God, before he cause darkness, and
before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and, while you look
for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross
darkness.
Jer
13:17 But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret for
your pride;
and my eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because Yahweh's
flock is taken captive.
Jer
13:18 Say you to the king and to the queen mother, Humble
yourselves, sit down; for your headdresses are come down, even the
crown of your glory.
Jer
13:19 The cities of the South are shut up, and there is none to open
them: Judah is carried away captive, all of it; it is wholly carried
away captive.
Jer
13:20 Lift up your eyes, and see those who come from the north:
where is the flock that was given you, your beautiful flock?
Jer
13:21 What will you say, when he shall set over you as head those
whom you have yourself taught to be friends to you? shall not sorrows
take hold of you, as of a woman in travail?
Jer
13:22 If you say in your heart, Why are these things come on me? for
the greatness of your iniquity are your skirts uncovered, and your
heels suffer violence.
Jer
13:23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots?
then may you also do good, who are accustomed to do evil.
Jer
13:24 Therefore will I scatter them, as the stubble that passes
away, by the wind of the wilderness.
Jer
13:25 This is your lot, the portion measured to you from me, says
Yahweh; because you have forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.
Jer
13:26 Therefore will I also uncover your skirts on your face, and
your shame shall appear.
Jer
13:27 I have seen your abominations, even your adulteries, and your
neighing, the lewdness of your prostitution, on the hills in the
field. Woe to you, Jerusalem! you will not be made clean; how long
shall it yet be?

a effort to understand the Bible by considering it from different
perspectives and different levels of literalcy. First, read the

for comprehension of the text. Next, read both the World English
Bible with the Darby Translation (more literal-blue

make comparisons and lastly, read all three versions (Young's is the

at one time to obtain an overview of the text. Doing this will make
you think about what

manner.
Jeremiah
Jeremiah 10 1
Hear
you the word which Yahweh speaks to you, house of Israel:
Hear
the word that Jehovah speaketh unto you, house of Israel.
Hear
ye the word, O house of Israel, That Jehovah hath spoken for you.
Jeremiah 10 2
thus
says Yahweh, "Don`t learn the way of the nations, and don`t be
dismayed at the signs of the sky;
for the nations are dismayed at them.
Thus
saith Jehovah: Learn not the way of the nations, and be not dismayed
at the signs of
the
heavens; for the nations are dismayed at them.
Thus
said Jehovah: Unto the way of the nations accustom not yourselves,
And by
the
signs of the heavens be not affrighted, For the nations are
affrighted by them.
Jeremiah 10 3
For
the customs of the peoples are vanity; for one cuts a tree out of the
forest, the work of the hands
of the workman with the ax.
For
the statutes of the peoples are vanity; for [it is] a tree cut out
of the forest, worked

For
the statutes of the peoples are vanity, For a tree from a forest
hath one cut,
Work
of the hands of an artificer, with an axe,

They
deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with
hammers, that it not move.
they
deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and
with hammers, that
it
move not.
With
silver and with gold they beautify it, With nails and with hammers
they fix
it,
And it doth not stumble.
Jeremiah 10 5
They
are like a palm-tree, of turned work, and don`t speak: they must be
carried, because they can`t
go. Don`t be afraid of them; for they can`t do evil, neither is it in
them to do good.
They
are as a palm-column of turned work, and they speak not; they are
carried, for they
cannot
go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is
it in them to do
good.
As
a palm they [are] stiff, and they speak not, They are surely borne,
for they step
not,
Be not afraid of them, for they do no evil, Yea, also to do good is
not in them.
Jeremiah 10 6
There
is none like you, Yahweh; you are great, and your name is great in
might.
There
is none like unto thee, Jehovah; thou art great, and thy name is
great in might.
Because
there is none like Thee, O Jehovah, Great [art] Thou, and great Thy
name
in
might.
Jeremiah 10 7
Who
should not fear you, King of the nations? for to you does it
appertain; because among all the wise
men of the nations, and in all their royal estate, there is none like
you.
Who
would not fear thee, O King of nations? For to thee doth it
appertain; for among all
the
wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none
like unto thee.
Who
doth not fear Thee, king of the nations? For to Thee it is becoming,
For
among
all the wise of the nations, And in all their kingdom there is none

Jeremiah 10 8
But
they are together brutish and foolish: the instruction of idols! it
is but a stock.
But
they are one and all senseless and foolish; the teaching of vanities
is a stock.
And
in one they are brutish and foolish, An instruction of vanities [is]
the tree
itself.
Jeremiah 10 9
There
is silver beaten into plates, which is brought from Tarshish, and
gold from Uphaz, the work
of the artificer and of the hands of the goldsmith; blue and purple
for their clothing; they are
all the work of skillful men.
Silver
spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz,
the work of the
artizan
and of the hands of the founder; blue and purple is their clothing:
they are all
the
work of skilful [men].
Spread-out
silver from Tarshish is brought, And gold from Uphaz, Work of an
artizan,
and of the hands of a refiner, Blue and purple [is] their clothing,
Work of
the
skilful -- all of them.
Jeremiah 10 10
But
Yahweh is the true God; he is the living God, and an everlasting
King: at his wrath the earth trembles, and the nations are not able to abide his indignation.
But
Jehovah Elohim is truth; he is the living God, and the King of
eternity. At his wrath
the
earth trembleth, and the nations cannot abide his indignation.
And
Jehovah [is] a God of truth, He [is] a living God, and a king
age-during, From
His
wrath shake doth the earth, And nations endure not His indignation.
Jeremiah 10 11
Thus
shall you say to them, The gods that have not made the heavens and
the earth, these shall perish
from the earth, and from under the heavens.
Thus
shall ye say unto them: The gods that have not made the heavens and
the earth, these
shall perish from the earth, and from under the heavens.
Thus
do ye say to them, The gods Who the heavens and earth have not made,
They
do
perish from the earth, And from under these heavens.
Jeremiah 10 12
He
has made the earth by his power, he has established the world by his
wisdom, and by his
understanding
has he stretched out the heavens:
He
hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by
his wisdom, and
hath
stretched out the heavens by his understanding.
The
maker of the earth by His power, The establisher of the world by His
wisdom,
Who,
by His understanding, stretched forth the heavens,

When
he uttereth his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens,
and he causeth the
vapours to ascend from the end of the earth; he maketh lightnings
for the rain, and
bringeth
forth the wind out of his treasuries.
At
the voice He giveth forth, A multitude of waters [is] in the
heavens, And He
causeth
vapours to come up from the end of the earth, Lightnings for rain He
hath
made,
And bringeth out wind from His treasures.
Jeremiah 10 14
Every
man is become brutish [and is] without knowledge; every goldsmith is
put to shame by his engraved image; for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no
breath in them.
Every
man is become brutish, bereft of knowledge; every founder is put to
shame by the
graven
image, for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in
them.
Brutish
is every man by knowledge, Put to shame is every refiner by a graven
image,
For false [is] his molten image. And there is no breath in them.
Jeremiah 10 15
They
are vanity, a work of delusion: in the time of their visitation they
shall perish.
They
are vanity, a work of delusion: in the time of their visitation they
shall perish.
Vanity
[are] they, work of erring ones, In the time of their inspection
they perish.
Jeremiah 10 16
The
portion of Jacob is not like these; for he is the former of all
things; and Israel is the tribe of his
inheritance: Yahweh of Hosts is his name.
The
portion of Jacob is not like them; for it is he that hath formed all
[things], and Israel
is
the rod of his inheritance: Jehovah of hosts is his name.
Not
like these [is] the Portion of Jacob, For framer of all things [is]
He, And Israel
[is]
the rod of His inheritance, Jehovah of Hosts [is] His name.

For
thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the
land at this time, and will distress
them, that they may feel [it].
For
thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will this time sling out the
inhabitants of the land, and
will
distress them, that they may be found.
For
thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am slinging out the inhabitants of the land
at this
time,
And have been an adversary to them, So that they are found out.

Woe
is me because of my hurt! my wound is grievous: but I said, Truly
this is [my] grief, and I must
bear it.
Woe
is me, for my wound! My stroke is hard to heal, and I had said, Yea,
this is [my] grief,
and
I will bear it.
Wo
to me for my breaking, Grievious hath been my smiting, And I said,
Only, this
[is]
my sickness, and I bear it.
Jeremiah 10 20
My
tent is destroyed, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone
forth from me, and they are
no more: there is none to spread my tent any more, and to set up my
curtains.
My
tent is despoiled, and all my cords are broken; my children are gone
forth from me,
and
they are not; there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and
to set up my
curtains.
My
tent hath been spoiled, And all my cords have been broken, My sons
have gone
out
from me, and they are not, There is none stretching out any more my
tent, And
raising up my curtains.
Jeremiah 10 21
For
the shepherds are become brutish, and have not inquired of Yahweh:
therefore they have not prospered, and all their flocks are scattered.
For
the shepherds are become brutish, and have not sought Jehovah;
therefore have they
not
acted wisely, and all their flock is scattered.
For
the shepherds have become brutish, And Jehovah they have not sought,
Therefore
they have not acted wisely, And all their flock is scattered.
Jeremiah 10 22
The
voice of news, behold, it comes, and a great commotion out of the
north country, to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a dwelling-place of jackals.
The
voice of a rumour! Behold, it cometh, and a great commotion out of
the north
country,
to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a dwelling-place of
jackals.
A
voice of a report, lo, it hath come, Even a great shaking from the
north country,
To
make the cities of Judah a desolation, A habitation of dragons.
Jeremiah 10 23
Yahweh,
I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man who
walks to direct his steps.
I
know, Jehovah, that the way of man is not his own; it is not in a
man that walketh to
direct
his steps.
I
have known, O Jehovah, that not of man [is] his way, Not of man the
going and
establishing
of his step.
Jeremiah 10 24
Yahweh,
correct me, but in measure: not in your anger, lest you bring me to
nothing.
Jehovah,
correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring
me to
Chastise
me, O Jehovah, only in judgment, Not in Thine anger, lest Thou make
me
small.
Jeremiah 10 25
Pour
out your wrath on the nations that don`t know you, and on the
families that don`t call on your
name: for they have devoured Jacob, yes, they have devoured him and
consumed him, and have
laid waste his habitation.
Pour
out thy fury upon the nations that know thee not, and upon the
families that call not
on thy name; for they have eaten up Jacob, yea, they have eaten him
up and consumed
him,
and have laid waste his dwelling-place.
Pour
out Thy fury on the nations that have not known Thee, And on the
families
that
have not called in Thy name, For they have eaten up Jacob, Yea, they
have
eaten
him up, yea, they consume him, And his habitation they have made
desolate!

you the words of this covenant, and speak to the men of Judah, and to
the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
Hear
ye the words of this covenant; and speak ye unto the men of Judah,
and to the
inhabitants
of Jerusalem.
`Hear
ye the words of this covenant, and ye have spoken unto the men of
Judah, and
unto the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
Jeremiah 11 3
and
say you to them, Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel: Cursed be the
man who doesn`t hear the words of this covenant,
And
thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel:
Cursed be the man
that
obeyeth not the words of this covenant
and
thou hast said unto them, Thus said Jehovah God of Israel: Cursed
[is] the man
who
doth not obey the words of this covenant,
Jeremiah 11 4
which
I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of
the land of Egypt, out
of the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to
all which I command you:
so shall you be my people, and I will be your God;
which
I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of
the land of
Egypt,
from the iron furnace, saying, Hearken unto my voice and do them,
according to
all
that I command you; so shall ye be my people, and I will be your
God:
That
I commanded your fathers, In the day of My bringing them out from
the land
of
Egypt, Out of the iron furnace, saying, Hearken to My voice, and ye
have done
them,
According to all that I command you, And ye have been to Me for a
people,
And
I am to you for God,
Jeremiah 11 5
that
I may establish the oath which I swore to your fathers, to give them
a land flowing with
milk
and honey, as at this day. Then answered I, and said, Amen, Yahweh.
that
I may perform the oath that I have sworn unto your fathers, to give
them a land
flowing
with milk and honey, as it is this day. And I answered and said,
Amen, Jehovah!
In
order to establish the oath that I have sworn to your fathers, To
give to them a
land
flowing with milk and honey, as this day. And I answer and say,
`Amen, O
Jehovah.`
Jeremiah 11 6
Yahweh
said to me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in
the streets of
Jerusalem,
saying, Hear you the words of this covenant, and do them.
And
Jehovah said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of
Judah, and in the
streets
of Jerusalem, saying: Hear the words of this covenant, and do them.
And
Jehovah saith unto me, `Proclaim all these words in the cities of
Judah, and in
the streets of Jerusalem, saying: Hear ye the words of this
covenant, And ye have
done
them.
Jeremiah 11 7
For
I earnestly protested to your fathers in the day that I brought them
up out of the land of Egypt,
even to this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.
For
I earnestly protested unto your fathers, in the day that I brought
them up out of the
land
of Egypt, unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying,
Hearken unto my voice.
For
I certainly testified against your fathers, In the day of My
bringing them up
out
of the land of Egypt -- till this day, Rising early and testifying,
saying,
Hearken
to My voice,
Jeremiah 11 8
Yet
they didn`t obey, nor turn their ear, but walked everyone in the
stubbornness of their evil heart:
therefore I brought on them all the words of this covenant, which I
commanded them to do,
but they didn`t do them.
But
they have not hearkened, nor inclined their ear, but have walked
every one in the
stubbornness
of their evil heart; and I have brought upon them all the words of
this
covenant,
which I commanded [them] to do, and they have not done.
And
they have not hearkened nor inclined their ear, And they walk each
in the
stubbornness
of their evil heart, And I bring on them all the words of this
covenant,
That I commanded to do, and they did not.`
Jeremiah 11 9
Yahweh
said to me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among
the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
And
Jehovah said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah,
and among the
inhabitants
of Jerusalem.
And
Jehovah saith unto me: `A conspiracy is found in the men of Judah,
And in the
inhabitants
of Jerusalem.
Jeremiah 11 10
They
are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused
to hear my words; and they
are gone after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the
house of Judah have broken
my covenant which I made with their fathers.
They
are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused
to hear my
words;
and they have gone after other gods to serve them. The house of
Israel and the
house
of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.
They
have turned back to the iniquities of their first fathers, Who
refused to hear
My words, And they have gone after other gods to serve them, The
house of Israel,
and
the house of Judah, Have made void My covenant, that I made with
their
fathers.
Jeremiah 11 11
Therefore
thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will bring evil on them, which they shall
not be able to escape;
and they shall cry to me, but I will not listen to them.
Therefore
thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will bring evil upon them, from which
they shall
not
be able to escape; and they will cry unto me, and I will not hearken
unto them.
Therefore
thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am bringing in unto them evil, That they
are not
able to go out from, And they have cried unto Me, And I do not
hearken unto them.
Jeremiah 11 12
Then
shall the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem go and cry
to the gods to which they
offer incense: but they will not save them at all in the time of
their trouble.
Then
shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go and cry
unto the gods unto
whom
they have burned incense; but they shall not save them at all in the
time of their
trouble.
And
the cities of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem have gone, And
they have
cried
unto the gods, To whom they are making perfume, And they give no
deliverance
at all to them, In the time of their vexation.
Jeremiah 11 13
For
according to the number of your cities are your gods, Judah; and
according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have you set up altars to the shameful
thing, even altars to burn incense to Baal.
For
[as] the number of thy cities, are thy gods, O Judah; and [as] the
number of the streets
of
Jerusalem, have ye set up altars to the Shame, altars to burn
incense unto Baal.
For
-- the number of thy cities have been thy gods, O Judah, And -- the
number of
the
streets of Jerusalem Ye have placed altars to a shameful thing,
Altars to make
perfume
to Baal.
Jeremiah 11 14
Therefore
don`t you pray for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for
them; for I will not hear
them in the time that they cry to me because of their trouble.
And
thou, pray not for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for
them; for I will not
hear
in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.
And
thou, thou dost not pray for this people, Nor dost thou lift up for
them cry and
prayer, For I do not hearken in the time of their calling unto Me
for their
vexation.
Jeremiah 11 15
What
has my beloved to do in my house, seeing she has worked lewdness
[with] many, and the holy
flesh is passed from you? when you do evil, then you rejoice.
What
hath my beloved to do in my house, seeing that the more part
practise their evil
devices,
and the holy flesh is passed from thee? When thou doest evil, then
thou rejoicest.
What
-- to My beloved in My house, Her doing wickedness with many, And
the holy
flesh
do pass over from thee? When thou dost evil, then thou exultest.
Jeremiah 11 16
Yahweh
called your name, A green olive-tree, beautiful with goodly fruit:
with the noise of a great
tumult he has kindled fire on it, and the branches of it are broken.
Jehovah
had called thy name, A green olive-tree, fair, of goodly fruit: with
the noise of a
great
tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and its branches are broken.
`An
olive, green, fair, of goodly fruit,` Hath Jehovah called thy name,
At the noise
of
a great tumult He hath kindled fire against it, And broken have been
its thin
branches.
Jeremiah 11 17
For
Yahweh of Hosts, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you,
because of the evil of the house
of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have worked for
themselves in provoking me
to anger by offering incense to Baal.
For
Jehovah of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against
thee, for the evil of
the
house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done for
themselves, to
provoke
me to anger in burning incense unto Baal.
And
Jehovah of Hosts, who is planting thee, Hath spoken evil concerning
thee, For
the
evil of the house of Israel, and of the house of Judah, That they
have done to
themselves,
To provoke Me to anger, to make perfume to Baal.
Jeremiah 11 18
Yahweh
gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it: then you showed me their
doings.
And
Jehovah hath given me knowledge, and I know [it]; then thou shewedst
me their
doings.
And,
O Jehovah, cause me to know, and I know, Then Thou hast showed me
their
doings.
Jeremiah 11 19
But
I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter; and I didn`t
know that they had deviseddevices
against me, [saying], Let us destroy the tree with the fruit of it,
and let us cut him off from
the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.
And
I was like a tame lamb [that] is led to the slaughter; and I knew
not that they devised
devices against me, [saying,] Let us destroy the tree with the fruit
thereof, and let us cut
him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more
remembered.
And
I [am] as a trained lamb brought to slaughter, And I have not known
That
against
me they have devised devices: We destroy the tree with its food, and
cut
him
off From the land of the living, And his name is not remembered
again.
Jeremiah 11 20
But,
Yahweh of Hosts, who judge righteously, who try the heart and the
mind, I shall see your vengeance
on them; for to you have I revealed my cause.
But
thou, Jehovah of hosts, who judgest righteously, who triest the
reins and the heart,
let
me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my
cause.
And
O Jehovah of Hosts, judging righteousness, Trying reins and heart, I
do see
Thy
vengeance against them, For unto Thee I have revealed my cause.`
Jeremiah 11 21
Therefore
thus says Yahweh concerning the men of Anathoth, who seek your life,
saying, You shall
not prophesy in the name of Yahweh, that you not die by our hand;
Therefore
thus saith Jehovah concerning the men of Anathoth, that seek thy
life, saying,
Prophesy
not in the name of Jehovah, that thou die not by our hand,
Therefore,
thus said Jehovah concerning the men of Anathoth, who are seeking
thy
life, saying: Do not prophesy in the name of Jehovah, And thou dost
not die by our
hands.
Jeremiah 11 22
therefore
thus says Yahweh of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men
shall die by the sword;
their sons and their daughters shall die by famine;
--
therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, I punish them: the
young men shall die by
the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine;
Therefore,
thus said Jehovah of Hosts: `Lo, I am seeing after them, The chosen
ones
die
by sword, Their sons and their daughters die by famine,
Jeremiah 11 23
and
there shall be no remnant to them: for I will bring evil on the men
of Anathoth, even the year
of their visitation.
and
there shall be no remnant of them; for I will bring evil upon the
men of Anathoth, in
the
year of their visitation.
And
they have no remnant, For I bring evil unto the men of Anathoth, The
year of
their
inspection!`
Jeremiah 12 1
Righteous
are you, Yahweh, when I contend with you; yet would I reason the
cause with you: why does
the way of the wicked prosper? why are all they at ease who deal very
treacherously?
Righteous
art thou, Jehovah, when I plead with thee; yet will I speak with
thee of [thy]
judgments.
Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? [wherefore] are all
they at
ease
that deal very treacherously?
Righteous
[art] Thou, O Jehovah, When I plead towards thee, Only, judgments do
I
speak
with Thee, Wherefore did the way of the wicked prosper? At rest have
been
all
treacherous dealers.
Jeremiah 12 2
You
have planted them, yes, they have taken root; they grow, yes, they
bring forth fruit: you are near
in their mouth, and far from their heart.
Thou
hast planted them, they also have taken root: they advance, yea,
they bring forth
fruit:
thou art near in their mouth, but far from their reins.
Thou
hast planted them, yea, they have taken root, They go on, yea, they
have made
fruit, Near [art] Thou in their mouth, And far off from their reins.
Jeremiah 12 3
But
you, Yahweh, know me; you see me, and try my heart toward you: pull
them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
But
thou, Jehovah, knowest me; thou hast seen me, and proved my heart
toward thee. Drag
them out like sheep for the slaughter, and set them apart for the
day of slaughter.
And
Thou, O Jehovah, Thou hast known me, Thou seest me, and hast tried
my heart
with
Thee, Draw them away as sheep to slaughter, And separate them for a
day of
slaughter.
Jeremiah 12 4
How
long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of the whole country wither?
for the wickedness of those who dwell therein, the animals are consumed, and the birds;
because they said, He shall not
see our latter end.
How
long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of all the fields wither?
Because of the
wickedness
of them that dwell therein, the beasts and the birds perish; for
they say, He
will
not see our end.
Till
when doth the earth mourn, And the herb of the whole field wither?
For the
wickedness
of those dwelling in it, Consumed have been beast and fowl, Because
they
said, `He doth not see our latter end.`
Jeremiah 12 5
If
you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, then how
can you contend with horses?
and though in a land of peace you are secure, yet how will you do in
the pride of the Jordan?
If
thou hast run with footmen, and they have wearied thee, how wilt
thou then contend
with
horses? And if in a land of peace thou thinkest thyself in security,
how wilt thou
then
do in the swelling of the Jordan?
For
-- with footmen thou hast run, And they weary thee, And how dost
thou fret
thyself
with horses! Even in the land of peace, [In which] thou art
confident -- And
how
dost thou in the rising of Jordan!
Jeremiah 12 6
For
even your brothers, and the house of your father, even they have
dealt treacherously with you;
even they have cried aloud after you: don`t believe them, though they
speak beautiful words to you.
For
even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt
treacherously
with
thee, even they have cried aloud after thee. Believe them not,
though they speak
good
[words] unto thee.
For
even thy brethren and the house of thy father, Even they dealt
treacherously
against
thee, Even they -- they called after thee fully, Trust not in them,
when they
speak to thee good things.
Jeremiah 12 7
I
have forsaken my house, I have cast off my heritage; I have given the
dearly beloved of my soul into
the hand of her enemies.
I
have forsaken my house, I have cast off my heritage, I have given
the beloved of my soul
into
the hand of her enemies.
I
have forsaken My house, I have left Mine inheritance, I have given
the beloved of
My
soul Into the hand of her enemies.
Jeremiah 12 8
My
heritage is become to me as a lion in the forest: she has uttered her
voice against me;
therefore
I have hated her.
My
heritage is become unto me as a lion in the forest; it hath raised
its voice against me:
therefore have I hated it.
Mine
inheritance hath been to Me as a lion in a forest, She gave forth
against Me
with
her voice, Therefore I have hated her.
Jeremiah 12 9
Is
my heritage to me as a speckled bird of prey? are the birds of prey
against her round about? go
you, assemble all the animals of the field, bring them to devour.
My
heritage is unto me [as] a speckled bird of prey; the birds of prey
round about are
against
her. Go, assemble all the beasts of the field, bring them to devour.
A
speckled fowl [is] Mine inheritance to Me? Is the fowl round about
against her?
Come,
assemble, every beast of the field, Come ye for food.
Jeremiah 12 10
Many
shepherds have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion
under foot, they have
made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.
Many
shepherds have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion
under foot,
they
have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness:
Many
shepherds did destroy My vineyard, They have trodden down My
portion,
They
have made My desirable portion Become a wilderness -- a desolation.
Jeremiah 12 11
They
have made it a desolation; it mourns to me, being desolate; the whole
land is made desolate, because no man lays it to heart.
they
have made it a desolation; desolate, it mourneth unto me: the whole
land is made
desolate,
for no man layeth it to heart.
He
hath made it become a desolation, The desolation hath mourned unto
Me,
Desolated
hath been all the land, But there is no one laying it to heart.
Jeremiah 12 12
Destroyers
are come on all the bare heights in the wilderness; for the sword of
Yahweh devours from
the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh
has peace.
Spoilers
are come upon all heights in the wilderness; for the sword of
Jehovah devoureth
from
one end of the land even to the [other] end of the land: no flesh
hath peace.
On
all high places in the plain have spoilers come in, For the sword of
Jehovah is
consuming,
From the end of the land even unto the end of the land, There is no
peace
to any flesh.
Jeremiah 12 13
They
have sown wheat, and have reaped thorns; they have put themselves to
pain, and profit nothing:
and you shall be ashamed of your fruits, because of the fierce anger
of Yahweh.
They
have sown wheat, and they reap thorns; they have put themselves to
pain, [and] do
not
profit. Be ye therefore ashamed of your revenues, because of the
fierce anger of
Jehovah.
They
sowed wheat, and have thorns reaped, They have become sick -- they
profit
not,
And they have been ashamed of your increases, Because of the
fierceness of
the
anger of Jehovah.
Jeremiah 12 14
Thus
says Yahweh against all my evil neighbors, who touch the inheritance
which I have caused my
people Israel to inherit: behold, I will pluck them up from off their
land, and will pluck up the
house of Judah from among them.
Thus
saith Jehovah against all mine evil neighbours, that touch the
inheritance which I
have
caused my people Israel to inherit: Behold, I will pluck them up out
of their land,
and
pluck out the house of Judah from among them.
Thus
said Jehovah concerning all my evil neighbours, who are striking
against
the
inheritance that I caused my people -- Israel -- to inherit: `Lo, I
am plucking
them
from off their ground, And the house of Judah I pluck out of their
midst.
Jeremiah 12 15
It
shall happen, after that I have plucked them up, I will return and
have compassion on them; and
I will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to
his land.
And
it shall come to pass, after I have plucked them up, I will return,
and have
compassion
on them, and will bring them back, each one to his inheritance, and
each one
to his land.
And
it hath been, after My plucking them out, I turn back, and have
pitied them,
And
I have brought them back, Each to his inheritance, and each to his
land.
Jeremiah 12 16
It
shall happen, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to
swear by my name, As
Yahweh
lives; even as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall
they be built up in the midst
of my people.
And
it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my
people, to swear by
my
name, [As] Jehovah liveth -- even as they taught my people to swear
by Baal -- they
shall
be built up in the midst of my people.
And
it hath come to pass, If they learn well the ways of My people, To
swear by My
name,
`Jehovah liveth,` As they taught My people to swear by Baal, Then
they have
been
built up in the midst of My people.
Jeremiah 12 17
But
if they will not hear, then will I pluck up that nation, plucking up
and destroying it, says Yahweh.
And
if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that
nation, saith Jehovah.
And
if they do not hearken, Then I have plucked up that nation, Plucking
up and
destroying,
An affirmation of Jehovah!`
Jeremiah 13 1
Thus
says Yahweh to me, Go, and buy you a linen belt, and put it on your
loins, and don`t put it in water.
Thus
said Jehovah unto me: Go and buy thee a linen girdle, and put it
upon thy loins; but
dip
it not in water.
Thus
said Jehovah unto me, `Go, and thou hast got for thee a girdle of
linen, and
hast
placed it on thy loins, and into water thou dost not cause it to
enter:`
Jeremiah 13 2
So
I bought a belt according to the word of Yahweh, and put it on my
loins.
And
I bought a girdle according to the word of Jehovah, and put it upon
my loins.
and
I get the girdle, according to the word of Jehovah, and I place [it]
on my loins.
Jeremiah 13 3
The
word of Yahweh came to me the second time, saying,
And
the word of Jehovah came unto me the second time, saying,
And
there is a word of Jehovah unto me a second time, saying,
Jeremiah 13 4
Take
the belt that you have bought, which is on your loins, and arise, go
to the Euphrates, and hide
it there in a cleft of the rock.
Take
the girdle that thou hast bought, which is upon thy loins, and
arise, go to the
Euphrates,
and hide it there in a hole of the rock.
`Take
the girdle that thou hast got, that [is] on thy loins, and rise, go
to Phrat, and
hide it there in a hole of the rock;
Jeremiah 13 5
So
I went, and hid it by the Euphrates, as Yahweh commanded me.
So
I went and hid it by the Euphrates, as Jehovah had commanded me.
and
I go and hide it by Phrat, as Jehovah commanded me.
Jeremiah 13 6
It
happened after many days, that Yahweh said to me, Arise, go to the
Euphrates, and take the belt
from there, which I commanded you to hide there.
And
it came to pass at the end of many days, that Jehovah said unto me,
Arise, go to the
Euphrates,
and take the girdle from thence which I commanded thee to hide
there.
And
it cometh to pass, at the end of many days, that Jehovah saith unto
me, `Rise,
go
to Phrat, and take thence the girdle, that I commanded thee to hide
there;`
Jeremiah 13 7
Then
I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and took the belt from the place
where I had hid it; and, behold,
the belt was marred, it was profitable for nothing.
And
I went to the Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the
place where I had
hid
it; and behold, the girdle was spoiled, it was good for nothing.
and
I go to Phrat, and dig, and take the girdle from the place where I
had hid it;
and
lo, the girdle hath been marred, it is not profitable for anything.
Jeremiah 13 8
Then
the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
And
the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
And
there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying, `Thus said Jehovah:
Jeremiah 13 9
Thus
says Yahweh, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the
great pride of
Jerusalem.
Thus
saith Jehovah: After this manner will I spoil the pride of Judah,
and the great pride
of
Jerusalem.
Thus
do I mar the excellency of Judah, And the great excellency of
Jerusalem.
Jeremiah 13 10
This
evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the
stubbornness of their heart, and are
gone after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, shall even
be as this belt, which is profitable for nothing.
This
evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the
stubbornness of their
heart,
and go after other gods, to serve them and to worship them, shall
even be as this
girdle
which is good for nothing.
This
evil people, who refuse to hear My words, Who walk in the
stubbornness of
their
heart, And go after other gods to serve them, And to bow themselves
to
them,
Yea it is -- as this girdle, that is not profitable for anything.
Jeremiah 13 11
For
as the belt cleaves to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave
to me the whole house of Israel
and the whole house of Judah, says Yahweh; that they may be to me for
a people, and for a name,
and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.
For
as a girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to
cleave unto me the whole
house
of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith Jehovah; that they
might be unto me
for
a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but
they would not hear.
For,
as the girdle cleaveth unto the loins of a man, So I caused to
cleave unto Me
The
whole house of Israel, And the whole house of Judah, an affirmation
of Jehovah,
To
be to Me for a people, and for a name, And for praise, and for
beauty, And they
have
not hearkened.
Jeremiah 13 12
Therefore
you shall speak to them this word: Thus says Yahweh, the God of
Israel, Every bottle shall
be filled with wine: and they shall tell you, Do we not certainly
know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?
And
thou shalt speak unto them this word: Thus saith Jehovah, the God of
Israel, Every
skin
shall be filled with wine. And they will say unto thee, Do we not
very well know that
every skin shall be filled with wine?
And
thou hast said unto them this word, Thus said Jehovah, God of
Israel, `Every
bottle
is full of wine,` And they have said unto thee: `Do we not certainly
know
that
every bottle is full of wine?`
Jeremiah 13 13
Then
shall you tell them, Thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will fill all the
inhabitants of this land, even
the kings who sit on David`s throne, and the priests, and the
prophets, and all the inhabitants
of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.
And
thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will fill
all the inhabitants of
this
land, and the kings that sit for David upon his throne, and the
priests and the
prophets,
and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.
And
thou hast said unto them, `Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am filling all
the
inhabitants
of this land, And the kings who sit for David on his throne, And the
priests,
and the prophets, And all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, [With]
drunkenness,
Jeremiah 13 14
I
will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons
together, says Yahweh: I will not
pity, nor spare, nor have compassion, that I should not destroy them.
And
I will dash them one against another, both the fathers and the sons
together, saith
Jehovah;
I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy so as not to destroy
them.
And
have dashed them one against another, And the fathers and the sons
together,
An affirmation of Jehovah, I do not pity, nor spare, nor have I
mercy, So as not to
destroy
them.
Jeremiah 13 15
Hear
you, and give ear; don`t be proud; for Yahweh has spoken.
Hear
ye, and give ear, be not lifted up; for Jehovah hath spoken.
Hear,
and give ear -- be not haughty, For Jehovah hath spoken.
Jeremiah 13 16
Give
glory to Yahweh your God, before he cause darkness, and before your
feet stumble on the dark
mountains, and, while you look for light, he turn it into the shadow
of death, and make it gross
darkness.
Give
glory to Jehovah your God, before he cause darkness, and before your
feet stumble
upon
the mountains of twilight; and ye shall look for light, but he will
turn it into the
shadow
of death, and make [it] gross darkness.
Give
ye to Jehovah your God honour, Before He doth cause darkness, And
before
your
feet stumble on dark mountains, And ye have waited for light, And He
hath
made
it for death-shade, And hath appointed [it] for thick darkness.
Jeremiah 13 17
But
if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret for [your]
pride; and my eye shall weep sore,
and run down with tears, because Yahweh`s flock is taken captive.
And
if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for
[your] pride; and mine
eye
shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because Jehovah`s flock is
gone into
captivity.
And
if ye do not hear it, In secret places doth my soul weep, because of
pride, Yea,
it
weepeth sore, And the tear cometh down mine eyes, For the flock of
Jehovah
hath
been taken captive.
Jeremiah 13 18
Say
you to the king and to the queen-mother, Humble yourselves, sit down;
for your headdresses are
come down, even the crown of your glory.
Say
unto the king and to the queen: Humble yourselves, sit down low; for
from your heads
shall
come down the crown of your magnificence.
Say
to the king and to the mistress: Make yourselves low -- sit still,
For come down
have your principalities, The crown of your beauty.
Jeremiah 13 19
The
cities of the South are shut up, and there is none to open them:
Judah is carried away
captive,
all of it; it is wholly carried away captive.
The
cities of the south are shut up, and there is none to open [them];
all Judah is carried
away
captive: it is wholly carried away captive.
The
cities of the south have been shut up, And there is none opening,
Judah hath
been
removed -- all of her, She hath been removed completely --
Jeremiah 13 20
Lift
up your eyes, and see those who come from the north: where is the
flock that was given you, your
beautiful flock?
Lift
up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north. Where is the
flock that was
given
thee, thy beautiful flock?
Lift
up your eyes, and see those coming in from the north, Where [is] the
drove
given
to thee, thy beautiful flock?
Jeremiah 13 21
What
will you say, when he shall set over you as head those whom you have
yourself taught to be friends
to you? shall not sorrows take hold of you, as of a woman in travail?
What
wilt thou say when he shall visit thee, since thou thyself hast
trained them to be
princes
in chief over thee? Shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in
travail?
What
dost thou say, when He looketh after thee? And thou -- thou hast
taught them
[to be] over thee -- leaders for head? Do not pangs seize thee as a
travailing
woman?
Jeremiah 13 22
If
you say in your heart, Why are these things come on me? for the
greatness of your iniquity are your skirts uncovered, and your heels suffer violence.
And
if thou say in thy heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For
the greatness of
thine
iniquity are thy skirts uncovered, [and] thy heels have suffered
violence.
And
when thou dost say in thy heart, `Wherefore have these met me?` For
the
abundance
of thine iniquity Have thy skirts been uncovered, Have thy heels
suffered
violence.
Jeremiah 13 23
Can
the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may you
also do good, who are accustomed
to do evil.
Can
an Ethiopian change his skin, or a leopard his spots? [Then] may ye
also do good, who
are
accustomed to do evil.
Doth
a Cushite change his skin? and a leopard his spots? Ye also are able
to do
good,
who are accustomed to do evil.
Jeremiah 13 24
Therefore
will I scatter them, as the stubble that passes away, by the wind of
the wilderness.
And
I will scatter them as stubble that passeth away by the wind of the
wilderness.
And
I scatter them as stubble, Passing away, by a wind of the
wilderness.
Jeremiah 13 25
This
is your lot, the portion measured to you from me, says Yahweh;
because you have forgotten me,
and trusted in falsehood.
This
shall be thy lot, thy measured portion from me, saith Jehovah;
because thou hast
forgotten
me, and confided in falsehood.
This
[is] thy lot, the portion of thy measures from Me -- an affirmation
of Jehovah,
Because
thou hast forgotten me, And dost trust in falsehood.
Jeremiah 13 26
Therefore
will I also uncover your skirts on your face, and your shame shall
appear.
Therefore
will I also turn thy skirts over thy face, and thy shame shall be
seen.
I
also have made bare thy skirts before thy face, And thy shame hath
been seen.
Jeremiah 13 27
I
have seen your abominations, even your adulteries, and your neighing,
the lewdness of your prostitution,
on the hills in the field. Woe to you, Jerusalem! you will not be
made clean; how long
shall it yet be?
Thine
adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy fornication, on
the hills, in the
fields,
-- thine abominations, have I seen. Woe unto thee, Jerusalem! Wilt
thou not be
made
clean? after how long a time yet?
Thine
adulteries, and thy neighings, The wickedness of thy whoredom, on
heights
in
a field, I have seen thine abominations. Wo to thee, O Jerusalem,
Thou art not
cleansed,
after when [is it] again?

Heb 1:1 God, having in
the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and
in various ways,
Heb 1:2 has at the end
of these days spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all
things, through whom also he made the worlds.
Heb 1:3 His Son is the
radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding
all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself made
purification for our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty
on high;
Heb 1:4 having become
so much better than the angels, as he has inherited a more excellent
name than they have.
Heb 1:5 For to which of
the angels did he say at any time, "You are my Son. Today have
I become your father?" and again, "I will be to him a
Father, and he will be to me a Son?"
Heb 1:6 Again, when he
brings in the firstborn into the world he says, "Let all the
angels of God worship him."
Heb 1:7 Of the angels
he says, "Who makes his angels winds, and his servants a flame
of fire."
Heb 1:8 But of the Son
he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter
of uprightness is the scepter of your Kingdom.
Heb 1:9 You have loved
righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, your God, has
anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows."
Heb 1:10 And, "You,
Lord, in the beginning, laid the foundation of the earth. The heavens
are the works of your hands.
Heb 1:11 They will
perish, but you continue. They all will grow old like a garment does.
Heb 1:12 As a mantle,
you will roll them up, and they will be changed; but you are the
same. Your years will not fail."
Heb 1:13 But which of
the angels has he told at any time, "Sit at my right hand, until
I make your enemies the footstool of your feet?"
Heb 1:14 Aren't they
all serving spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who
will inherit salvation?

The

is
a effort to understand the Bible by considering it from different
perspectives and different levels of literalcy. First, read the
World English Bible (the least literal-black
text)
for comprehension of the text. Next, read both the World English
Bible with the Darby Translation (more literal-blue
text)to
make comparisons and lastly, read all three versions (Young's is the
most literal translation-
red text)
at one time to obtain an overview of the text. Doing this will make
you think about what
the
Scriptures are actually saying and avoid reading in a superficial
manner.
