Isaiah 25-28

Isa 25:1 Yahweh, you are my God. I will exalt you! I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago, in complete faithfulness and truth.

Isa 25:2 For you have made a city into a heap, a fortified city into a ruin, a palace of strangers to be no city. It will never be built.

Isa 25:3 Therefore a strong people will glorify you. A city of awesome nations will fear you.

Isa 25:4 For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat, when the blast of the dreaded ones is like a storm against the wall.

Isa 25:5 As the heat in a dry place will you bring down the noise of strangers; as the heat by the shade of a cloud, the song of the dreaded ones will be brought low.

Isa 25:6 In this mountain, Yahweh of Armies will make all peoples a feast of fat things, a feast of choice wines, of fat things full of marrow, of well refined choice wines.

Isa 25:7 He will destroy in this mountain the surface of the covering that covers all peoples, and the veil that is spread over all nations.

Isa 25:8 He has swallowed up death forever! The Lord Yahweh will wipe away tears from off all faces. He will take the reproach of his people away from off all the earth, for Yahweh has spoken it.

Isa 25:9 It shall be said in that day, "Behold, this is our God! We have waited for him, and he will save us! This is Yahweh! We have waited for him. We will be glad and rejoice in his salvation!"

Isa 25:10 For in this mountain the hand of Yahweh will rest. Moab will be trodden down in his place, even like straw is trodden down in the water of the dunghill.

Isa 25:11 He will spread out his hands in its midst, like one who swims spreads out hands to swim, but his pride will be humbled together with the craft of his hands.

Isa 25:12 He has brought the high fortress of your walls down, laid low, and brought to the ground, even to the dust.

Isa 26:1 In that day, this song will be sung in the land of Judah: "We have a strong city. God appoints salvation for walls and bulwarks.

Isa 26:2 Open the gates, that the righteous nation may enter: the one which keeps faith.

Isa 26:3 You will keep whoever's mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.

Isa 26:4 Trust in Yahweh forever; for in Yah, Yahweh, is an everlasting Rock.

Isa 26:5 For he has brought down those who dwell on high, the lofty city. He lays it low. He lays it low even to the ground. He brings it even to the dust.

Isa 26:6 The foot shall tread it down; Even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy."

Isa 26:7 The way of the just is uprightness. You who are upright make the path of the righteous level.

Isa 26:8 Yes, in the way of your judgments, Yahweh, have we waited for you. Your name and your renown are the desire of our soul.

Isa 26:9 With my soul have I desired you in the night. Yes, with my spirit within me will I seek you earnestly; for when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

Isa 26:10 Let favor be shown to the wicked, yet he will not learn righteousness. In the land of uprightness he will deal wrongfully, and will not see Yahweh's majesty.

Isa 26:11 Yahweh, your hand is lifted up, yet they don't see; but they will see your zeal for the people, and be disappointed. Yes, fire will consume your adversaries.

Isa 26:12 Yahweh, you will ordain peace for us, for you have also worked all our works for us.

Isa 26:13 Yahweh our God, other lords besides you have had dominion over us, but by you only will we make mention of your name.

Isa 26:14 The dead shall not live. The deceased shall not rise. Therefore have you visited and destroyed them, and caused all memory of them to perish.

Isa 26:15 You have increased the nation, O Yahweh. You have increased the nation! You are glorified! You have enlarged all the borders of the land.

Isa 26:16 Yahweh, in trouble they have visited you. They poured out a prayer when your chastening was on them.

Isa 26:17 Like as a woman with child, who draws near the time of her delivery, is in pain and cries out in her pangs; so we have been before you, Yahweh.

Isa 26:18 We have been with child. We have been in pain. We gave birth, it seems, only to wind. We have not worked any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.

Isa 26:19 Your dead shall live. My dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust; for your dew is like the dew of herbs, and the earth will cast forth the dead.

Isa 26:20 Come, my people, enter into your chambers, and shut your doors behind you. Hide yourself for a little moment, until the indignation is past.

Isa 26:21 For, behold, Yahweh comes forth out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth also will disclose her blood, and will no longer cover her slain.

Isa 27:1 In that day, Yahweh with his hard and great and strong sword will punish leviathan, the fleeing serpent, and leviathan the twisted serpent; and he will kill the dragon that is in the sea.

Isa 27:2 In that day, sing to her, "A pleasant vineyard!

Isa 27:3 I, Yahweh, am its keeper. I will water it every moment. Lest anyone damage it, I will keep it night and day.

Isa 27:4 Wrath is not in me, but if I should find briers and thorns, I would do battle! I would march on them and I would burn them together.

Isa 27:5 Or else let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me. Let him make peace with me."

Isa 27:6 In days to come, Jacob will take root. Israel will blossom and bud. They will fill the surface of the world with fruit.

Isa 27:7 Has he struck them as he struck those who struck them? Or are they killed like those who killed them were killed?

Isa 27:8 In measure, when you send them away, you contend with them. He has removed them with his rough blast in the day of the east wind.

Isa 27:9 Therefore, by this the iniquity of Jacob will be forgiven, and this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: that he makes all the stones of the altar as chalk stones that are beaten in pieces, so that the Asherim and the incense altars shall rise no more.

Isa 27:10 For the fortified city is solitary, a habitation deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness. The calf will feed there, and there he will lie down, and consume its branches.

Isa 27:11 When its boughs are withered, they will be broken off. The women will come and set them on fire, for they are a people of no understanding. Therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them, and he who formed them will show them no favor.

Isa 27:12 It will happen in that day, that Yahweh will thresh from the flowing stream of the Euphrates to the brook of Egypt; and you will be gathered one by one, children of Israel.

Isa 27:13 It will happen in that day that a great trumpet will be blown; and those who were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and those who were outcasts in the land of Egypt, shall come; and they will worship Yahweh in the holy mountain at Jerusalem.

Isa 28:1 Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley of those who are overcome with wine!

Isa 28:2 Behold, the Lord has a mighty and strong one. Like a storm of hail, a destroying storm, and like a storm of mighty waters overflowing, he will cast them down to the earth with his hand.

Isa 28:3 The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim will be trodden under foot.

Isa 28:4 The fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley, shall be like the first-ripe fig before the summer; which someone picks and eats as soon as he sees it.

Isa 28:5 In that day, Yahweh of Armies will become a crown of glory, and a diadem of beauty, to the residue of his people;

Isa 28:6 and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.

Isa 28:7 They also reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink. The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink. They are swallowed up by wine. They stagger with strong drink. They err in vision. They stumble in judgment.

Isa 28:8 For all tables are completely full of filthy vomit and filthiness.

Isa 28:9 Whom will he teach knowledge? To whom will he explain the message? Those who are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts?

Isa 28:10 For it is precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little.

Isa 28:11 But he will speak to this nation with stammering lips and in another language;

Isa 28:12 to whom he said, "This is the resting place. Give rest to weary;" and "This is the refreshing;" yet they would not hear.

Isa 28:13 Therefore the word of Yahweh will be to them precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little; that they may go, fall backward, be broken, be snared, and be taken.

Isa 28:14 Therefore hear the word of Yahweh, you scoffers, that rule this people in Jerusalem:

Isa 28:15 "Because you have said, 'We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol are we in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, it won't come to us; for we have made lies our refuge, and we have hidden ourselves under falsehood.' "

Isa 28:16 Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh, "Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone of a sure foundation. He who believes shall not act hastily.

Isa 28:17 I will make justice the measuring line, and righteousness the plumb line. The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters will overflow the hiding place.

Isa 28:18 Your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand. When the overflowing scourge passes through, then you will be trampled down by it.

Isa 28:19 As often as it passes through, it will seize you; for morning by morning it will pass through, by day and by night; and it will be nothing but terror to understand the message."

Isa 28:20 For the bed is too short to stretch out on, and the blanket is too narrow to wrap oneself in.

Isa 28:21 For Yahweh will rise up as on Mount Perazim. He will be angry as in the valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his unusual work, and bring to pass his act, his extraordinary act.

Isa 28:22 Now therefore don't be scoffers, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, on the whole earth.

Isa 28:23 Give ear, and hear my voice! Listen, and hear my speech!

Isa 28:24 Does he who plows to sow plow continually? Does he keep turning the soil and breaking the clods?

Isa 28:25 When he has leveled its surface, doesn't he plant the dill, and scatter the cumin seed, and put in the wheat in rows, the barley in the appointed place, and the spelt in its place?

Isa 28:26 For his God instructs him in right judgment, and teaches him.

Isa 28:27 For the dill are not threshed with a sharp instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned over the cumin; but the dill is beaten out with a stick, and the cumin with a rod.

Isa 28:28 Bread flour must be ground; so he will not always be threshing it. Although he drives the wheel of his threshing cart over it, his horses don't grind it.

Isa 28:29 This also comes forth from Yahweh of Armies, who is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in wisdom.

wonderful things; counsels of old [which are] faithfulness [and] truth.

wonderful thing, Counsels of old, stedfastness, O stedfast One.

Isaiah 25 2

For you have made of a city a heap, of a fortified city a ruin, a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built.

For thou hast made of the city a heap, of the fortified town a ruin, the palace of strangers

to be no city; it shall never be built up.

For Thou didst make of a city a heap, Of a fenced city a ruin, A high place of

strangers from [being] a city, To the age it is not built.

Isaiah 25 3

Therefore shall a strong people glorify you; a city of awesome nations shall fear you.

Therefore shall the mighty people glorify thee, the city of terrible nations shall fear thee.

Therefore honour Thee do a strong people, A city of the terrible nations feareth Thee.

Isaiah 25 4

For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a refugefrom the storm, a shade from the heat, when the blast of the awesome ones is as a storm against the wall.

For thou hast been a fortress to the poor, a fortress for the needy in his distress, a refuge

from the storm, a shadow from the heat: for the blast of the terrible ones [has been] as

the storm [against] a wall.

For Thou hast been a stronghold for the poor, A stronghold for the needy in his

distress, A refuge from storm, a shadow from heat, When the spirit of the terrible

[is] as a storm -- a wall.

Isaiah 25 5

As the heat in a dry place will you bring down the noise of strangers; as the heat by the shade of a cloud, the song of the awesome ones shall be brought low.

Thou hast subdued the tumult of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; [as] the heat, by the

shadow of a cloud, [so] the song of the terrible ones is brought low.

As heat in a dry place, The noise of strangers Thou humblest, Heat with the

shadow of a thick cloud, The singing of the terrible is humbled.

Isaiah 25 6

In this mountain will Yahweh of Hosts make to all peoples a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

And in this mountain will Jehovah of hosts make unto all peoples a feast of fat things, a

feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

And made hath Jehovah of Hosts, For all the peoples in this mount, A banquet of fat

things, a banquet of preserved things, Fat things full of marrow, preserved

things refined.

Isaiah 25 7

He will destroy in this mountain the surface of the covering that covers all peoples, and the veil that is spread over all nations.

And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the veil which veileth all the peoples,

and the covering that is spread over all the nations.

And swallowed up hath He in this mountain The face of the wrapping that is

wrapped over all the peoples, And of the covering that is spread over all the nations.

Isaiah 25 8

He has swallowed up death forever; and the Lord Yahweh will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of his people will he take away from off all the earth: for Yahweh has spoken it.

He will swallow up death in victory. And the Lord Jehovah will wipe away tears from off

all faces; and the reproach of his people will he take away from off all the earth: for

Jehovah hath spoken.

He hath swallowed up death in victory, And wiped hath the Lord Jehovah, The tear

from off all faces, And the reproach of His people He turneth aside from off all the

earth, For Jehovah hath spoken.

Isaiah 25 9

It shall be said in that day, Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is Yahweh; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

And it shall be said in that day, Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he

will save us: this is Jehovah, we have waited for him; we will be glad and rejoice in his

salvation.

And [one] hath said in that day, `Lo, this [is] our God, We waited for Him, and He

Isaiah 25 10

For in this mountain will the hand of Yahweh rest; and Moab shall be trodden down in his place, even as straw is trodden down in the water of the dung-hill.

For in this mountain shall the hand of Jehovah rest, and Moab shall be trodden down

under him, as straw is trodden down in the dunghill;

For rest doth the hand of Jehovah on this mountain, And trodden down is Moab

under Him, As trodden down is straw on a dunghill.

Isaiah 25 11

He shall spread forth his hands in the midst of it, as he who swims spreads forth [his hands] to swim; but [Yahweh] will lay low his pride together with the craft of his hands.

and he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth

them forth to swim; and he shall bring down their pride together with the plots of their hands.

And he spread out his hands in its midst, As spread out doth the swimmer to

swim; And He hath humbled his excellency With the machinations of his hands.

Isaiah 25 12

The high fortress of your walls has he brought down, laid low, and brought to the ground, even to the dust.

And the fortress of the high defences of thy walls will he bring down, lay low, bring to

the ground, into the dust.

And the fortress of the high place of thy walls He hath bowed down -- He hath

made low, He hath caused [it] to come to the earth, -- unto dust.

You will keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on you]; because he trusts in  you.

Thou wilt keep in perfect peace the mind stayed [on thee], for he confideth in thee.

An imagination supported Thou fortifiest peace -- peace! For in Thee it is confident.

Isaiah 26 4

Trust in Yahweh forever; for in Yah, Yahweh, is an everlasting Rock.

Confide ye in Jehovah for ever; for in Jah, Jehovah, is the rock of ages.

Trust ye in Jehovah for ever, For in Jah Jehovah [is] a rock of ages,

Isaiah 26 5

For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low, he layeth

For He bowed down the dwellers on high, A city set on high He maketh low, He

Isaiah 26 6

The foot shall tread it down; even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.

The foot shall tread it down, -- the feet of the afflicted, the steps of the poor.

Tread it down doth a foot, Feet of the poor -- steps of the weak.

Isaiah 26 7

The way of the just is uprightness: you that are upright do direct the path of the just.

The way of the just is uprightness: thou, the Upright, dost make the path of the just even.

The path for the righteous [is] uprightness, O upright One, The path of the

righteous Thou dost ponder.

Isaiah 26 8

Yes, in the way of your judgments, Yahweh, have we waited for you; to your name, even to your memorial [name], is the desire of our soul.

Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O Jehovah, have we waited for thee; the desire of [our]

soul is to thy name, and to thy memorial.

Also, [in] the path of Thy judgments, O Jehovah, we have waited [for] Thee, To Thy

name and to Thy remembrance [Is] the desire of the soul.

Isaiah 26 9

With my soul have I desired you in the night; yes, with my spirit within me will I seek you

earnestly: for when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me I seek thee

early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn

righteousness.

[With] my soul I desired Thee in the night, Also, [with] my spirit within me I seek

Thee earnestly, For when Thy judgments [are] on the earth, The inhabitants of the

world have learned righteousness.

Isaiah 26 10

Let favor be showed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness; in the land of

uprightness will he deal wrongfully, and will not see the majesty of Yahweh.

If favour be shewn to the wicked, he doth not learn righteousness: in the land of

uprightness he dealeth unjustly, and beholdeth not the majesty of Jehovah.

The wicked findeth favour, He hath not learned righteousness, In a land of

straightforwardness he dealeth perversely, And seeth not the excellency of Jehovah.

Isaiah 26 11

Yahweh, your hand is lifted up, yet they don`t see: but they shall see [your] zeal for the people, and be put to shame; yes, fire shall devour your adversaries.

Jehovah, thy hand is lifted up, but they do not see: [yet] they shall see [thy] jealousy [for]

the people, and be ashamed; yea, the fire which is for thine adversaries shall devour them.

O Jehovah, high [is] Thy hand -- they see not, They see the zeal of the people, and

are ashamed, Also, the fire -- Thine adversaries, consumeth them.

Isaiah 26 12

Yahweh, you will ordain peace for us; for you have also worked all our works for us.

Jehovah, thou wilt ordain peace for us; for thou also hast wrought all our works for us.

O Jehovah, Thou appointest peace to us, For, all our works also Thou hast wrought for us.

Isaiah 26 13

Yahweh our God, other lords besides you have had dominion over us; but by you only will we make mention of your name.

Jehovah our God, other lords than thee have had dominion over us; by thee only will we

make mention of thy name.

O Jehovah our God, lords have ruled us besides Thee, Only, by Thee we make

mention of Thy name.

Isaiah 26 14

[They are] dead, they shall not live; [they are] deceased, they shall not rise: therefore have you visited and destroyed them, and made all memory of them to perish.

[They are] dead, they shall not live; deceased, they shall not rise: for thou hast visited and

destroyed them, and made all memory of them to perish.

Dead -- they live not, Rephaim, they rise not, Therefore Thou hast inspected and

dost destroy them, Yea, thou destroyest all their memory.

Isaiah 26 15

You have increased the nation, O Yahweh, you have increased the nation; you are glorified; you have enlarged all the borders of the land.

Thou hast increased the nation, Jehovah, thou hast increased the nation: thou art

glorified. Thou hadst removed [it] far [unto] all the ends of the earth.

Thou hast added to the nation, O Jehovah, Thou hast added to the nation, Thou hast

been honoured, Thou hast put far off all the ends of earth.

Isaiah 26 16

Yahweh, in trouble have they visited you; they poured out a prayer [when] your chastening was on them.

Jehovah, in trouble they sought thee; they poured out [their] whispered prayer when thy

chastening was upon them.

O Jehovah, in distress they missed Thee, They have poured out a whisper, Thy

chastisement [is] on them.

Isaiah 26 17

Like as a woman with child, who draws near the time of her delivery, is in pain and cries out in her pangs; so we have been before you, Yahweh.

As a woman with child, that draweth near her delivery, is in travail, [and] crieth out in

her pangs; so have we been before thee, Jehovah.

When a pregnant woman cometh near to the birth, She is pained -- she crieth in

her pangs, So we have been from Thy face, O Jehovah.

Isaiah 26 18

We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not worked any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.

We have been with child, we have been in travail, we have as it were brought forth wind;

we have not wrought the deliverance of the land, neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.

We have conceived, we have been pained. We have brought forth as it were wind,

Salvation we do not work in the earth, Nor do the inhabitants of the world fall.

Isaiah 26 19

Your dead shall live; my dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust; for your dew is [as] the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast forth the dead.

Thy dead shall live, my dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing in triumph, ye that dwell

in dust; for thy dew is the dew of the morning, and the earth shall cast forth the dead.

`Thy dead live -- My dead body they rise. Awake and sing, ye dwellers in the dust,

For the dew of herbs [is] thy dew, And the land of Rephaim thou causest to fall.

Isaiah 26 20

Come, my people, enter you into your chambers, and shut your doors about you: hide yourself for a little moment, until the indignation be past.

Come, my people, enter into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee; hide thyself

just for a little moment, until the indignation be past.

Come, My people, enter into thy inner chambers, And shut thy doors behind thee,

Hide thyself shortly a moment till the indignation pass over.

Isaiah 26 21

For, behold, Yahweh comes forth out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

For behold, Jehovah cometh out of his place to visit the iniquity of the inhabitants of the

earth upon them; and the earth shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

For, lo, Jehovah is coming out of His place, To charge the iniquity of the

inhabitant of the earth upon him, And revealed hath the earth her blood, Nor doth she cover any more her slain!`

Isaiah 27 1

In that day Yahweh with his hard and great and strong sword will punish leviathan the swift serpent, and leviathan the crooked serpent; and he will kill the monster that is in the sea.

In that day Jehovah, with his sore and great and strong sword, will visit leviathan the

fleeing serpent, and leviathan the crooked serpent; and he will slay the monster that is 

in the sea.

In that day lay a charge doth Jehovah, With his sword -- the sharp, and the great,

and the strong, On leviathan -- a fleeing serpent, And on leviathan -- a crooked serpent, And He hath slain the dragon that [is] in the sea.

Isaiah 27 2

In that day: A vineyard of wine, sing you to it.

In that day [there shall be] a vineyard of pure wine; sing concerning it:

In that day, `A desirable vineyard,` respond ye to her,

Isaiah 27 3

I Yahweh am its keeper; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day
