Nice looking dog. Looks like a Terrier of some sort, or perhaps a Poodle mix. Anyway, what drew me to this picture was the expression on its face; One of supreme confidence, as if in his mind, he were the commander of a vast unstoppable army. You know, that feeling you get after listening to a great preacher, who motivates you to the point where you feel that you can do absolutely anything that God wants you to and nothing, and absolutely NOTHING can stand in your way. Within the book of Revelation there are several passages that evoke similar thoughts…
Revelation 19 ( World English Bible )
[11] I saw the heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it is called Faithful and True. In righteousness he judges and makes war. [12] His eyes are a flame of fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has names written and a name written which no one knows but he himself. [13] He is clothed in a garment sprinkled with blood. His name is called “The Word of God.” [14] The armies which are in heaven followed him on white horses, clothed in white, pure, fine linen. [15] Out of his mouth proceeds a sharp, double-edged sword, that with it he should strike the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod.* Psalm 2:9 He treads the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God, the Almighty. [16] He has on his garment and on his thigh a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Revelation 20 ( WEB )
[11] I saw a great white throne, and him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. There was found no place for them. [12] I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and they opened books. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works. [13] The sea gave up the dead who were in it. Death and Hades* or, Hell gave up the dead who were in them. They were judged, each one according to his works. [14] Death and Hades* or, Hell were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. [15] If anyone was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.
This world seems so huge that it is difficult for me to envision something more powerful than all the armies it can muster and all the weapons at its disposal. Yet, the resurrected LORD of Lords surpasses them all. When the time is right, Jesus will come again and defeat once for all those who oppose him.
To me, the expression on that dog’s face will be the one of him who will both conquer and judge all human beings. One day, we will all stand before the great white throne and be judged for what we have done in this life, whether good or bad. What sort of expression will be on your face? Will it be sadness or confidence? Those whose conscience is clean and have both trusted and obeyed God will not be sad, but those who have put their faith in themselves will look downtrodden. The judgment day may be today or at some distant date, but right now is the time to make sure your heart is right with God; now can be the day of salvation. What remains to be said is only this: Will you obey God and live forever or be cast into the burning lake of fire?
