Wednesday night Bible Study was quite motivational and seemed to reverberate in my mind.. over and over. And then I saw a picture of a drawing on a blackboard with this content. Unfortunately, the picture wasn’t quite good enough to share with you, so I redid the substance of it in a spreadsheet. You know- its TRUE! Attitude is the first step in success. Now, the passage that I kept thinking about was from the prophet Isaiah, specifically that highlighted part…
Isaiah 6 ( World English Bible )
[8] I heard the Lord’s voice, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?”
Then I said, “Here I am. Send me!”
[9] He said, “Go, and tell this people,
‘You hear indeed,
but don’t understand;
and you see indeed,
but don’t perceive.’
[10] Make the heart of this people fat.
Make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes;
lest they see with their eyes,
and hear with their ears,
and understand with their heart,
and turn again, and be healed.”
Then I said, “Here I am. Send me!”
[9] He said, “Go, and tell this people,
‘You hear indeed,
but don’t understand;
and you see indeed,
but don’t perceive.’
[10] Make the heart of this people fat.
Make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes;
lest they see with their eyes,
and hear with their ears,
and understand with their heart,
and turn again, and be healed.”
Obviously, Isaiah penned these words a long, long time ago, so we have never met, but I can appreciate his attitude! I have met people like him though, for you can recognize them by every aspect of their demeanor. They have a zip in their step, enthusiasm in their voice and most of all – a sparkle in their eyes. And the thing about them is- they are extremely contagious. I like to think that God is at work in them. Attitude is everything; when you give 100% of yourself, God gives you many times that over and over. Max T. Neel used to say: “you can’t out give God; for you give with a spoon, but God returns with a steam-shovel.” I wonder, what is your attitude like today? I know mine could use a little work.
PS. Thanks for that great class, Larry Shatzer!
