IMPERATIVES FOR SALVATION? by steve finnell
Did God establish imperatives for salvation? Yes, He did.
1. You must believe that Jesus is the Son of God in order to be saved.
John 8:13-24.....24"Therefore I said
to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I
am He, you will die in your sins."(NKJV)
2. You must confess Jesus as Lord and believe God raised Jesus from the dead in order to be saved.
Romans 10:9 that if you confess with
your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him
from the dead, you will be saved.(NKJV)
3. You must believe that Jesus is the Christ and be immersed in water in order to be saved.
Mark 16:16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved..(NKJV)
4. You must repent of unbelief and make the commitment to turn from sin and turn toward God in order to be saved.
Acts 3:19 "Repent therefore and be
converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that in times of
refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.(NKJV)
5. You must be born of water(baptized) and be born of Spirit in order to be saved.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, "Most
assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he
cannot enter the kingdom of God.(NKJV)
6. You must repent and be immersed in water in order to be saved.
7. You must believe that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God in order to be saved.
John 3:17-18..... that the world through Him might be saved. 18 "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.(NKJV)
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father except through Me.(NKJV)
Salvation takes as long as it takes to believe and be immersed in water. Maybe one hour, maybe a week, or maybe years. If you have not obeyed the imperatives of salvation, then you are lost. You are still in your sins.
