This picture was entitled “Imagination” and how appropriate a title it is. It reminds me of the concept of alternative universes, where things are “almost” the same. Those differences make one wonder… “what if”? Imagination can lead to so much and yet...
Science knows so much, but understands so little. The comprehension of the world around us is an ongoing revelation and this we call Science. People today consider “Science” as almost a religion. Question current scientific dogma and you are labeled a heretic or worse.
Human beings need a rather large dose of humility. We as a species are not really progressing, but rather degenerating into a less educated, more technology dependent “know nothings”. I remember hearing this week that in the U.S.A. only half of the entire population even believes that there is a God. For many others, they have made themselves a “god” and if anyone has a different opinion from their own, well, then the other person is absolutely WRONG; without any doubt, whatsoever!
Consider this passage from the old testament…
Isaiah 55 ( World English Bible )
6 Seek Yahweh while he may be found; call you on him while he is near:
7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to Yahweh, and he will have mercy on him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” says Yahweh.
9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 For as the rain comes down and the snow from the sky, and doesn’t return there, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, and gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
11 so shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing I sent it to do.
12 For you shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing; and all the trees of the fields shall clap their hands.
13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree; and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to Yahweh for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”
What will it take for unbelievers to seek God? A huge national disaster, a war, a plague, the loss of a loved one or something so shocking that we cannot even conceive of what it might be? Imagination is a wonderful thing, but even the greatest minds cannot compare with the creator of the universe.
What does the Scripture say…
James 4 ( WEB )
8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
9 Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom.
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.
Turn to God and live. Humility is the path to spirituality and its end is in the acknowledgment of God Almighty. He and he alone is supreme, and beyond anything we can imagine. The sooner this nation recognizes this fact, the closer we will be to becoming the God-fearing nation we once were. Believe this for it is true!
